04. CEO Of The Family

"But why am I the last surviving heir of the Linford family?" Javier asked.

"Because no one else can be the heir of your family, Mr. Joshua and Mrs. Carol passed away long ago and you are their only heir. Don't you want to take what is already yours, sir?" Javier was silent for a while, if he was indeed the last heir of the Linford family, that meant he had to take back what was his.

"Of course I have to take it back," Javier replied.

"So you're going to do it?" With a slight hesitation, Javier nodded his head. This was his chance to make Blaire and his son happy, then take what was already his.

"That's great, sir! I'm glad that you're finally back and willing to take it back. I've prepared everything for you, so you just have to worry about nothing else," Adam said, Javier could only nod and this time he listened to what Adam was saying seriously.

"I'm going to introduce you as the young Mr. Linford and you're going to be the man in charge of this town after all these years of the Linford Family being destroyed!" Adam said.

"But I think it might be too dangerous for me to return in such a high profile manner, we should do it quietly for a while." Adam nodded his head in agreement, he smiled happily as Javier turned out to be very smart just like Joshua, his old boss. Although his life was difficult, it didn't change anything about his intelligence.

"You're right," Adam replied. He believed that Javier would be a great heir one day.

"Are the family's assets really in your hands?" Adam nodded his head again and Javier looked thoughtful, like he was planning something.

"Since we're going to do this plan secretly, I think you should transfer some assets and money to some big companies." Javier came up with another idea that might be incorporated into the plan.

"That will strengthen our plan and our assets."

"Yes, sir. I will do that and I will also transfer a few million dollars to a secret account in your name," Adam replied, after all, the Linford family's wealth and assets were vast. The assets and money to be transferred were only a fraction of what they had.

"You're very good, that's why I've been trying to find you all these years." Javier smiled, Adam's praise bringing back the confidence he had lost. He always felt he was useless, but a surprising secret about him emerged and made Javier realize that he was more special than he thought.

"You look a lot like your father," Adam continued.

"Really? What was he like?" Javier never remembered what his mom and dad looked like, he never even thought he had parents or a family that loved him.

"Exactly like you. You're both great people." Javier didn't think he could be compared to his father. He didn't think he was great enough as his son but from now on he would try and plan to restore the Linford family's glory.

"Alright, that's the plan for now, I'll let you know about the next plan. You can wait for further instructions." Javier got up from his seat, he felt he had to leave soon. Blaire was probably waiting for him for a long time.

"Are you leaving now, sir?" asked Adam, the older man getting up as well.

"Yes, I have to go home now."

"Well, I'll see you later, sir. Matt, take the young master home!" Adam ordered. One of the men in black ran over to Javier and stood behind him. When Javier turned around and was about to leave the room, all the men who were Adam's subordinates bowed respectfully to him. Javier was amazed, he couldn't believe that he could make people bow to him when just a few hours ago he was just a useless commoner.

Throughout the car ride, Javier kept daydreaming. He thought about what happened today that surprised him so much.

"What should I tell Blaire? She'll ask me about work and where I've been," Javier muttered. He couldn't lie to his wife, but he couldn't tell Blaire about today's events.

"I can't lie, but I have to hide my true identity from Blaire for her safety, at least for now."

"I'll tell her when I get a job..." Javier nodded his head, he had found an excuse to talk to his wife later and he would keep it a secret from Blaire for the time being.

10 minutes later he arrived at his house. He walked into the house, but strangely Blaire didn't greet him like she usually did.

"Where is she? Did she go out?" Javier wondered as he stepped into the house.

As he was about to go to his room, he heard Blaire and his family chatting, and Javier quietly listened. It turned out that Blaire was on a group call with his family.

"Come on Blaire! Don't you want to do this for your family? This is a big contract and we have to get it," his mother-in-law said on the phone to Blaire.

"Do you think your husband will be able to make our family company successful? No! He only deserves to be a lowly employee." Anne continued to insult Javier to get her daughter to do what she wanted.

"Mom, I can't do it. You know I'm pregnant and I don't want a divorce with Javier!" Blaire replied firmly, to which Anne snorted in annoyance.

"You idiot, I'm trying to give you the best life possible. Don't worry about your pregnancy, you can terminate it and you can marry Mr. Andrew."

"He's a rich and clever man who can help the family survive. He will help us get a big contract in the market from Ford Group!" Javier who was silently listening was surprised to hear that, he thought that Ford Group was the company under his and Adam's name. From the name alone, Javier could tell. He didn't know that Adam was already carrying out this plan beyond what he knew.

"I'll make whoever can help our family get this offer appointed as the family CEO," Anne's words now gave Javier an idea.
