CHAPTER 38

Russell returned home. The one being that would usually come to greet him was nowhere to be seen.

Straight away, he felt terrible. He didn’t enter the house but went to the small dog house. It had a blanket with bone designs. Perro liked the blanket so much he wouldn’t even let Russell take that for getting it washed.

He would tell Viola to take the blanket when he took Perro out for a walk, and Perro would make a lot of fuss after coming home. The amount of sass he would show, no other dog would probably be able to come close to him.

But all of that is past now.

“Denver Dankworth…” Russell clenched his fists. “You’re not going to get away with what you did.”

Russell then went to find a part-time job as he had a debt to pay for having paid Nora her salary.

He tried a walk-in interview for babysitters. He particularly chose that job because he didn’t want Kyra to see him working.
