chapter 2

Oliver and Amelia stood in front of the court to deliver the divorce papers and end things once and for all.

"Do you have to do this, Amelia?" Oliver muttered. If only Amelia could reconsider now.

"Must I keep repeating myself? I said I don’t want to live a poor life anymore. You are a wrecked man without a future, you are unambitious, and I never see anything good in you," she snapped.

"It will change. I will make sure you live a good life and a great future. Just reconsider, Amelia," Oliver pleaded earnestly.

"Until I drown in poverty? I said I don’t want you anymore. There is nothing you can say to change my decision, you poor rag man."

"Consider all the years we have been together. Consider the promises we made to each other and just wait a little. A bit of waiting, and everything will be better than you can ever imagine," Oliver said hopefully.

"Will you please stop dreaming? Don't tell me anything to keep me in your poor life. There is nothing you can do," Amelia hissed and entered the court.

They stood at the maze, while the judge sat in front of them.

"Have you both come to a final decision about the divorce?" the judge asked.

Amelia immediately answered, "Yes, we have."

Oliver kept mute.

"Oliver ," the judge called him.

He came to himself and nodded, "Yes, we have."

"Okay, how should the property be shared?" the judge asked.

Amelia scoffed, "Property? He owns nothing. He is penniless, and everything he owns is all thanks to me."

"You mean, he has no property?" The judge asked for confirmation.

She nodded, "Yes, judge. You see, he is not meant to be with. Otherwise, I want to waste my years."

"Amelia, do you have to say all these here?" Oliver uttered.

"Yes, are you embarrassed? Then go make money," she affirmatively answered.

"You mean you want nothing from him?" the judge asked.

"Yeah! Because he owns nothing. He doesn’t have any property to give," Amelia sneered.

The judge faced Oliver , "Okay, anything you have to say, Oliver ?".

"Let's have an agreement and sign that we owe each other nothing," Oliver requested.

Amelia scoffed, "Really! I don’t know the reason you are even wasting your time here. You should have just ended it with the divorce agreement. You practically absolutely own nothing."

The judge provided the agreement file and asked them to sign.

Without hesitation, Amelia grabbed the pen and signed it, "I have many things to do than waste my precious time here."

Oliver silently signed his also.

"With this, both of you owe each other nothing, and the agreement has been sealed. You are now officially divorced," the judge said.

They both walked out of the court.

Amelia exhaled loudly, "Wow. Now I’m free from poverty!".

Oliver looked at her.

Just then, a car drove in speed and abruptly stopped in front of them.

Amelia smiled at herself as the driver of the car got down.

A man, probably at the same age range as Oliver , but he was way too ugly.

Amelia flung herself at him and hugged him tightly.

Oliver frowned at his face; he was so shocked. Not that he was jealous that she hugged him, but this man was very ugly. So ugly. How could Amelia leave him for this man?.

"Amelia… did you divorce me to be with him?" Oliver stammered.

"Yeah! He is the best match for me and so perfect. Not someone as parasitic and lowlife like you," she sneered.

"Amelia," he murmured.

Amelia arrogantly replied, "Let me introduce you to him. His name is Victor; he has a very rich father. He could afford to buy me cars, luxurious bags, and even an apartment. He could fulfil my dreams!".

"So… you are going for him because of that?" Oliver inquired.

"Yeah, I see a future in him. Not being with you and becoming stagnant water that never flows," she said.

"Amelia, you left me for this ugly man because of money?" He furiously asked.

"Uhn… he is better than you. Your handsome face has done nothing but make you more drowned in the sea of poverty," Amelia fired back.

Jackson chimed in, “Is this your useless husband, the poor one?”

"Yeah, he is. As poor as no one else," Amelia joked, and they both laughed.

Oliver looked at them, a smile on his face because he was not absolutely what they were calling him.

They were wrong.

Jackson walked closer to him.

"Even with your good-looking face, you look like an ambassador of the poor."

Amelia laughed out very hard.

He continued, “You are handsome, and what? What has your handsomeness done for you? What can you render? If possible, you should sell that face and become faceless to have money.”

Oliver glared at him.

“Mmm… What will you do? Beat me? You are poor; that's the reason your wife divorced you and came to me, even though I am ugly," he sneered at him.

Amelia clung to Victor, “Don’t even bother to talk to this lowlife man; he would never get half of the things you have.

He is a lowlife and will surely remain like that.”

"Yeah, he is a failure who couldn’t keep his wife. No man will stay with someone like you. They will rather commit suicide," he said.

"Or, he will be the one to commit suicide. Since no one will stay with him, he will become depressed and kill himself."

Oliver calmly listened to both of them as they abused him and cursed him for being poor when they are absolutely wrong.

Just then, an SUV appeared, approaching them.

Jackson dropped his jaw because that car was worth a million dollars!

Even Amelia was carried away by the standard and beauty of the car.

The driver didn’t press the brake when it arrived in front of Victor's car.

The driver ramped it and crashed it into pieces.

Jackson popped out his eyes; he couldn’t believe what he just witnessed.

"What!" he yelled. This is just a brand-new car he got from his father! The only one he got!
