“Yes” Elise’s mother’s high pitched voice rang out from where she was seated with her family by the dinner table. She had just announced to her husband and her daughter that she was able to secure one of the biggest contracts of her life. It was a contract that ha given her sleepless nights for weeks.

Her husband beamed with pride as she explained how she was able to close a deal with the client.

Elise was also pleased by her mother’s wonderful achievement and feat, but her attention was divided. She kept thinking of something else and every once in a while, she would throw a quick glance at the main door, half expecting it to open.

Her mother signaled at one of the cook who stood by the corner of the large room with her hands at her back.

The cook disappeared.

In less than no time, she was back again staggering under the weight of an enormous round chocolate cake on a china platter.
