Chapter 4: BYC company

Kincaid knew this was his real identity and there was nothing he could do about it.

“This can help myself and Amelia,” he said with great anticipation.

“Great! Then you can simply move back here and begin taking care of everything you owe” Steph said cheerfully.

“Not so fast Steph” Kincaid said.

He moved to the seat beside him and sat down with a sharp look.

“Let’s not forget how I ended up in my current state”

“What are you trying to say, young master?” Steph asked, “Are you saying you don’t want to come back and rule the Bryce empire? That can’t be, you are the only one who can take your place in this family…”

“Hold on old man” Kincaid interrupted with a whiff of a chuckle in his voice, “you are making assumptions in your head”

“But you said…”Steph said and stopped himself from continuing further.

“You and I know it’s still not safe for me to resume my position as the heir of this family. My enemies might be lurking in the dark to take me down permanently. It's better to still stay in a low profile life rather than living in a high profile one.” Kincaid said with a severe utterance.

Steph thought about it for a second and realized that he was right.

Kincaid stood up and asked, “Steph, how many are my family assets”

Steph smiled lightly and answered, “Your assets are more than what we or anyone can count. They are all more than a trillion dollars”

Kincaid stood there with his mouth agape.

This is more than his originality can take.

A trillionaire?

Kincaid shook his head and knew this was not the time to play soft with his decisions.

“I want you to transfer a few companies and a couple of million dollars to a secret account under my name”

Steph knew he was in no position to ask why his young master was requesting such and simply agreed, “Consider it done young master”

Kincaid looked at the time and knew it was time to go.

“I need to leave now. My wife will be wondering where I went. Just wait for further information from me. Till then I am off”

“Then let us drop you off” Steph suggested.

Kincaid calculated the time he would arrive home if he went with them and decided, “Let us do it. But you will have to drop me off at a place where no one will see me”

“Consider it done master”

***

Kincaid entered the quiet house and decided in his heart there was no way he could tell his wife about his true identity until it was safe for her and their baby.

“With this amount of money, I guess I will have to make you a story about finding a new job that earns a lot”

Taking a few steps towards the door, Kincaid heard some harsh voices.

Without any thought, Kincaid knew it was in-laws.

Upon entering he saw his wife’s expression on a video call with his family and knew something was wrong.

“You should help your family when we are in trouble. Don’t tell me you have a heart that can bear to see our doom” Venice’s angry voice sounded over the phone.

“Mother, this has nothing to do with me. I’ve said it once and I will tell you again. I will never sacrifice my happiness for your gain” Amelia answered back in a firm tone.

“How dare you speak to your mother in such a manner? Are you so blinded by your love for that good-for-nothing that you do not even consider your family anymore” Aaron Kincaid’s angry tone echoed from the video call.

Amelia inhaled sharply and knew things would go bad if she continued in a harsh tone.

“Amelia dear, this is about your family. The company is almost bankrupt and we need a big contract with Pearl Company led by the Ashton family to make it run smoothly again” Venice said.

“Mother I understand you. But no one asked Darius to…”

Amelia wanted to speak up but before she could speak she was interrupted by her mother.

“Don’t you dare pin this on your brother? He was doing what he thought was best for the family. You also have to do your part by aborting that thing you call pregnancy and leave that empty Micheal”

“Mother, Micheal is not just a temporary person in my life. He is my husband. And how can you say that about your grandchild ”Amelia said.

One could hear the heartbreaking tone in her voice.

This was supposed to be her family.

What happened to supporting each other when in trouble?

“A grandchild from a useless person will be nothing to the world. But having a baby with someone like Clayton Ashton won’t be a bad idea” Venice said.

“MOTHER” Amelia exclaimed in amazement.

“What? Did I say something wrong? How I wish you could be in a relationship with him. And we both know Clayton Ashton has been in love with you since. Only such a rich and visionary person can get us out of this terrible matter. A not poor person like that Micheal”

Amelia kept quiet and said nothing.

Trying to prove a point will only add salt to the injury.

Her words will only make her parents more angry with Micheal who has absolutely nothing to do with their trouble.

“There is something you should know,” Venice said

Amelia said nothing and waited to hear what she would say next.

Seeing that her daughter was quietly listening to her, Venice happily continued.

“Our family company has found an affluent and thriving company which has placed out a big contract. And anyone who can help our company get the offer with this company will become the next CEO”

Hearing those tempting words, Amelia calmly gripped her phone tightly.

“Mother this is not fair. You know I’m the eldest and I’ve been trained to lead the company for a long time now. Where from this bet”

“Well, everything is fair in positions and power. This is a chance to show that you can do anything to make the company a thriving one “Venicie said.

“This is not fair. Dad, are you going to allow Mother to decide on something such as this?”

Aaron who has been sitting near his wife calmly smiled and answered, “Your mother is right. We don’t want to leave the company to someone who can not even make the right decisions with her life. This can be the best opportunity to showcase your desire to lead the company”

Amelia did not respond and just stared at the two unfamiliar people whom she had known all her life.

They are even willing to risk giving the company to her spend-frit brother if she does comply with the wishes.

Some parents are.

“And may I ask what this ‘thriving’ company is?” Amelia asked.

“BYC Company!”
