Be Sincere

Epic 4

Peter awoke four hours later, his stomach grumbling. He was ravenous; it felt like his intestines were desperate for sustenance. Finding the kitchen empty and Lisa nowhere in sight, he assumed she had left. Baffled by the kitchen's bare state, Peter grabbed his phone and ordered some food. Leaving his kitchen he got shocked as he walked past his kitchen mirror only to find his face covered with red Lipstick.

“Lisa!”. He yelled annoyed as he went to wash it off, after which he headed to the sitting room to unwind.

Peter stood in shock, his legs nearly frozen at the sight of the disarray in his living room. Lisa's laughter filled the air, her attention fully absorbed in the TV series she was watching, oblivious to his presence. Peter took a deep breath, calming himself, and quietly took a seat on the couch.

The doorbell echoed through the room, and as Peter rose to answer it, Lisa finally noticed him. "Babe?" she called out, following him to the door.

"Oh, food!" Lisa exclaimed as Peter accepted the delivery and made his way to the kitchen. Lisa's worry grew as Peter seemed to ignore her. "Aren't you going to talk to me?" she asked, nearly in tears, resting her hands on his shoulders.

"I'm sorry, I needed to eat to regain my energy before responding," Peter apologized, heading to the fridge for a chilled glass of water.

"I'm sorry you had to go through this. See why I told you to get me a maid? The housework is stressful, and my nails are too polished for cooking. You know I don't cook, right?" Lisa attempted to justify her actions, settling onto Peter's lap, trying her best to make him smile. "Are you mad at me?" she asked softly, playing with his hair.

"It's fine. I'm not mad at you, just annoyed with the agency for not sending anyone over yet." Peter's voice softened, but a hiss of annoyance escaped his lips.

“I fired her already, I was…”

“What?! You fired her? When, how, why? Why didn't you seek my consent before doing that? Do you realize that is the last person in the industry?! Gosh!”. Resentment was written all over Peter as he angrily stood up while pushing Lisa away.

I tried telling you, but you didn't pick up my call. I'm so sorry, babe. I didn't mean to upset you. She just wasn't good enough for the job." Lisa whimpered, clutching Peter tightly.

"It's okay. I'll try to find another person," Peter said, gently kissing her forehead.

"Thanks, babe. I love you," Lisa whispered in his ear, still holding him close. The sweet scent of Peter's clothes seemed to keep her pinned to him. Peter struggled to free himself but couldn't. "I need to call my PA," he finally managed to say.

"Sure," Lisa said with a deep exhale, releasing her grip. She stood waiting for Peter to finish the call. His saddened expression spoke volumes about the outcome.

"No hope?" Lisa asked, her concern evident. Peter nodded gently.

"Why don't you choose from your staff? In the meantime, one of the cleaners or chefs could work here until I leave. Don't you think that's a good idea?" Lisa suggested.

"It doesn't sound like a bad idea. I'll have to talk to one of them, then," Peter whispered, smiling. He couldn't stop blushing at the thought. "But who will it be?" he wondered to himself, glancing at Lisa.

"You've been smiling for a while now. Why is that? Are you thinking about us, huh?" Lisa asked with a smile, moving closer to Peter. She pulled his hand to her tiny waist, staring lustfully into his eyes. Peter was completely swept away by the atmosphere as he leaned closer, savouring every moment with Lisa.

"I've been waiting for this moment," Lisa moaned, leaning closer to Peter. Her breath quickened as she leaned in for a kiss.

"Were you really thinking about our future?" Lisa whispered in his ear.

"St-op," Peter struggled to say as thoughts of Nora crossed his mind. Lisa didn't seem to notice, her hands exploring every part of Peter's body.

"Please st-op," Peter pleaded as Lisa began unbuttoning his shirt and kissing him.

"Stop!" Peter finally yelled, his breath fast and uneven. His shout scared Lisa, and she pulled away, her heart racing with fear.

"What happened? Did I do something wrong?" Lisa whispered gently after catching her breath.

"Sorry, you didn't do anything. I think I need some water," Peter apologized immediately and headed to the fridge.

Peter struggled to understand his reaction. Why had he suddenly thought of Nora? What was this feeling he experienced whenever her name was mentioned or when she crossed his mind? He tried to rationalize his thoughts but found himself more conflicted than ever.

Meanwhile, Lisa was left to wonder about Peter's sudden change in behaviour. Had she misread their connection, or was something else weighing on his mind? Uncertainty filled her thoughts as she attempted to piece together what had just happened.

"Babe, are you okay now?" Lisa asked, her voice laced with concern, as she entered the kitchen.

"Yeah, I think I need a little rest," Peter mumbled, heading to his room.

Confused, Lisa watched him leave. She checked her body, hair, and breath. "I don't smell bad," she whispered to herself, pondering the situation. "Is he cheating on me?" The thought struck her like lightning, and she stormed into the bedroom.

"Are you cheating on me?" Lisa demanded furiously.

Peter stared at her in shock, the word reverberating in his mind. "Cheating?" he whispered, a bewildered smile forming on his lips. "Are you kidding right now?"

"No, baby, I'm sorry I doubted you. I was just concerned. You didn't even try to touch me or reciprocate the kissing and... you know. I'm sorry, I was just worried," Lisa apologized, joining him on the bed and resting her head on his chest.

"Umm... I wasn't going to say that, though," Peter whispered, his voice tinged with innocence.

"Then what?" Lisa asked, her troubled heart pounding as she gazed at Peter, searching for answers in his eyes.

Peter hesitated, unsure of how to express his thoughts without hurting her feelings. He knew his behaviour was unusual, but it was rooted in his confusion about his feelings, not any infidelity.

"I just... I needed some space," he finally admitted, knowing the words sounded feeble. "It's not about you. I'm dealing with some things I don't fully understand yet."

Lisa listened intently, her worry only partially alleviated by his explanation. Still, she appreciated his honesty and the vulnerability he showed in sharing his uncertainty.

"Okay," she whispered, trying to be understanding. "I'm here for you if you need me. Just talk to me, Okay?". Lisa breathed out while gently placing her lips on his

“Mmm”. Peter hummed
