Luka watched the lady curtsy to pick up her phone with wide eyes while admiring her her elegance. Still, he didn't like the tone she had used with him.

“I believe I should be telling you that, you were so engrossed in your phone call that you bumped into me.” Luka replied in a Stern matter-of-factly tone.

A corner of the lady's lips twitched as sheet out a unbelievable scoff. She slipped her phone into her black bag and brushed the frontal strands of her left to add beauty to her ponytail to there respective sides.

“I was engrossed with my phone call? Then why did you, the one not engrossed in anything, think of moving the other way—” she stuck both arms out and moved it to one side to gesticulate moving the other way “instead of bumping into me.”

Luka opened his mouth to say something but could not say anything meaningful except stuttering sounds as he gaped at this insufferable lady in a pale yellow suit, mini skirt and white knee-length boots.

“That's what I thought.” The lady ro

“Ahhh!” The blonde lady drawled out with lots of air. “Still as grumpy as ever?”“When did you arrive?” William got out from the couch and walked over to her enveloping her into a bear hug.“Hey hey hey! I'm still china. Did you forget? You'll crush me.” She said in between laughs as she waited for Williams to release her from his embrace. When Williams pulled back, he stretched out a hand to ruffle her hair but Charlotte hled his hand before it touched her. “No!” She said firmly. “You bleached your hair.”“Mmhmm.” Charlotte responded affirmatively with a nod and stepped to the side to walk into his room. Her blue eyes roamed his room. “I'm a free bird now so…” she looked at him over her shoulder and shrugged.“Well lucky you, there's no relative in Manchester watching after your ass.” William pointed out ruefully. Charlotte tucked her chin and peered at William like you would at someone over the rims of a pair of eyeglass. “You used to be excited to be CEO, what's with the tone n

Chapter 52Someone knocked softly on his black-tinted mirror twice causing him to look up from his phone. Tony lowered his window only slightly and waited for the man behind the glass to talk.“Mr Ruvolo will see you now,” the man informed him in a slight Italian accent. Tony didn't respond a yes or an alright, he simply wind up the glass and glared at Mr Ruvolo's driver from inside his car. After a few more minutes, he reached for a flash drive sitting pretty in the area meant to hold a water bottle. He caressed the black rectangularish piece with his thumb and lifted the corner of his lips slowly into a smile before stepping out of his Audi S4. He shut the door behind him while his eyes roamed all over the entrance of the Opera theatre. Elegantly dressed women and dashing men in tuxedos with their posh accent as they communicated with each other in cadence known to people of affluence littered the stairs that led to the grand hall. Some only exchanged a few words before disappeari

Tony slipped out a cigarette from the pack and stuck it between his lips, next he pulled out a lighter and held it close to the stick. His other hand cupped around it to act as a barrier against too much air. Successful, he leaned back into his seat and sucked in some smoke before puffing it out with a deep sigh. The smoke dispersed to fill his car, making the air hazy. The night had taken a colder turn. The air felt damp and it seemed like it would rain in a few hours after all May was about the corner. Tony was still parked in front of the Opera Theatre, his earphones plugged in to listen to Barbara Vocé’s voice. According to the banner that slayed slightly in the breeze hanging from the top of the three-storey theatre down, Barbara Vocé was performing tonight. Since he couldn't be in there and not a single sound was permitted out of the soundproof walls, he turned to Musicity to listen to her songs. Shutting his eyes close softly, he allowed the talented singer's voice to fill

Tony killed the cigarette he was smoking, butt crushing the bottom on ash tray on his dashboard and got out of the car and braced himself against the gust of wind that whooshed momentarily past him. His attention shifted to the man she had slapped and was quick to catch the decisive look on his face. He read the man's body language and when he sensed the man was about to go after Ruby, Tony increased the length of his strides and just when he was close, he yelled her name.“Miss Smith!” He called, startling both of them to a halt. While Ruby stared at him, puzzled, the man glared at him displeased to be interrupted.“Miss Smith,” Tony called again when he got in front of her and dipped his head in that servant-like manner. “I hope I did not keep you waiting, I just had to take a leak while waiting for you to leave the theatre. Ruby's frown deepened. Tony flicked his gaze to the man for a moment and could see some confusion in those angry eyes. Perhaps they came together. “You sent

The brown liquid bubbled in the squarish glass cup from the Brandy bottle. William corked it close and placed it gently on the his desk while his other hand wrapped around the glass cup. He sipped from the glass and closed his eyes as his tongue played around with the liquid before swallowing it. He gave a small grunt in approval and shuffled on his feet towards the window. His blue shirt was rolled up at the sleeves and his tired eyes allowed themselves to feast on the city below him from his office window. It was a late evening in Idaho and a few lights were already sinking at him from the buildings. Street lights were already on, lining he sides of the road as vehicles zoomed back and forth. William allowed himself to think back to that morning. Of course, he had been awake at 3am. Thanks to his desperation, he's been having troublesome nights. He needed to marry Isabel Logan. And fast. The Otto family was going bankrupt, including the part of the Belinsky Enterprise his father h

The car wasn't around Simon. It was as if it had been concealed within space in the nights. William was still confused even as he wished he could sink into the ground for a minute as his father approached him in steady, well-paced, purposeful steps. “What are you doing, son?” Simon asked just when he was within hearing distance from William. He stared dead-eye at William. Wiliiam felt like he didn't need to answer the question. It seemed like his father already knew. William pursed his lips and waited for his father to continue speaking.“I wish you wouldn't do something so careless and stupid, Will.”That seemed to spark something in William as his tongue retorted before he could actually think it really through. “I wish yoy wouldn't keep me in the dark.”“Some things are simply none of your business!” Simon snapped at him.William threw his head back and expelled a burst of air in annoyance.“For your own good son, tame that curiousity of yours and use it wisely,” Simon spoke agai

“What is this!” Isabel bellowed, her face scrunched up in disgust, her lips twisted distastefully and her eyes wide in fury. The maid she was glaring at cowered under her glare. She was visibly shaking as she stared at the floor. Her poor hands were red from kneading them anxiously.“Have you gone deaf? I demand an explanation!” “I'm sorry ma'am. They didn't have your favourite brand at the mart.” “And so what? You suddenly decided to alter my taste for me? That it was okay to choose another brand?” Isabel's voice ascended into a higher pitch with every question asked. She pushed her chair backward, so hard that the object could not stand its ground. It titled backward and hit the floor in a dull clatter.“I-i’m sorry ma'am. I didn't know where else to get it.” The maid whimpered.“Make me understand. Is Marcomart the only place where you can get me coffee?”The maid shook her head, her eyes beginning to tear up. “It's the only place that usually sells the brand you like.” The maid

“Lukyan!” A feminine voice called out in alarm. “Be careful.”“I want to go up the lighthouse!” A tiny childish voice replied excitedly.“I know,” the feminine voice giggled softly. “But you don't wanna lose a tooth just before your birthday.”The child giggled and smiled brilliantly at the woman. “Then I'll look like Grandpa!”The woman threw her head back in laughter, her wide-brimmed hat exposed her slender diamond-shaped face and pouty lips that showed off a perfect set of dentition as she laughed. She was joined in by someone else. A rich deep voice whose laughter seemed to roll out from his ribs. While the woman's gloved hands lifted hum up to stand on his feet, a pair of wider sturdier-looking hands wrapped the sides of his body underneath his little arms and lifted him up to face level. A bearded face grinned at him as eyes an identical shade of cobalt blue shimmered with warmth.“Dear boy, I can't have you looking older than me.” The man said and lifted him higher until he w

  • So long

The childlike giggle high-pitched by excitement travelled far thanks to the wind that came with the push and pull of the seawater against the sand, creamy white foam lining the tip. There were three figures playing on the sand, two wore blue shorts and were shirtless while the third one wore a green one with a tank top on. They all had light blonde hair. “I'm counting now!” The third one yelled, sounding feminine. “One! Two! Three! Stop!” The boys froze. They both found it hard to control their laughter as the girl chose which to go after. The game was simple. She had a maximum of three leaps to make it tonome person. If she does touch whichever she picked in those three leaps, then the person touched will replace her in he middle and do his counting. Between the two boys, one could tell which was older very easily. The one on the right hand of the girl was taller and older-looking than the cute little boy on her left who was about his elbow high. • Satisfaction

Isabel's spirit seemed to drop further into despondency with each step she took down the stairs. Wrapped in a wool robe and her hair in a towel of the same material, her finger traced the silver railing of her stairs as she descended slowly. She's just had the loneliest heartbreaking bath. Despite the essence she had added to her bath water that was meant to help her feel great afterwards, her body still ached. And parts of her she couldn't exactly identity. She was sure if one thing however. That she was numb from head to toe. She's done enough crying to last a year, her tear ducts were probably tired and wouldn't produce any more of the salty liquid even if it was prompted to. Her slow descent finally came to an end and she had eventually reached the end of the stairs. Her eyes roamed the house at an unrushed pace, slowly taking everything in and noting how empty—super empty the house seemed to have become. Could one person really make such an impact? She asked herself, huggin

“You know, you could have just let Ruby drive us to wherever this Thai restaurant is than is having to ride in your car.” Ruby looked outside as she strapped the seatbelt across her chest, silently praying that no one else saw her go into his car. “Thank you but I'd rather not be seen in a Cosmo purple car. Who drives such a colour around nowadays.” Tony put on his seatbelt to and leaned forward to assess the tightness.“Uh excuse me, it's called being unique.”“You're certainly standing out.” Tony teased. “Well sorry if you can't stand a little colour because you're used to the greyness of your world.” She tapped the side of the vehicle lightly with her knuckle for emphasis.“Silver.” Tony corrected as he pulled out of the lot. “It's silver Lolly.”Ruby's eyes jutted together. “Lolly?”“Your car looks like grapefruit flavour so…” Tony explained.Ruby opened her mouth as if to say “the audacity!” “Look, I have varied taste. Today was sunny and his gelled hair was shiny under the rays of the sun. “Yeah. Tony Ecaudor. Just by name. You know from people I've worked with in the past.” Jenner did her best not to stammer and raise further questions from Ruby. She watched Tony end the phone call and got out his car keys.“Quick! • Signed

Isabel didn't wait for the car to completely stop. She couldn't. The words were still playing over and over in her head. “Ethan signed the divorce papers sweetheart. You're now a free woman.” As soon as her father had said those words, the driver had stopped the car while she asked—rather, demanded what he was talking about and why the divorce papers had her signature on it even when she had no recollection of ever signing the divorce papers. “You don't remember? It was the day we ate together at the restaurant.” Her father had answered before closing the door, leaving her even more consterned. She rushed past the guards and servants welcoming her, not bothering about her belongings still in the boot of the car. A light shower has started, miniature droplets of it getting soaked up by her blazer. She burst through the front door, eyes wide and searching as she scanned the premises. It was empty and her heart did a painful lurch. Next, she ran up the stairs to the bedroom and with
