12 | Please just leave Alex to me

The night passed away like a soft sigh in the darkness.

Jack’s mind kept pondering on what Alex told him the other night. He didn't have a good sleep as he became restless and tossed on the floor.

Each toss was accompanied by a deep sigh as every minute felt like an eternity to him. A part of him wanted to tell Alex that he wasn't his father and his other self wanted Alex all to himself. All these months, he cared and adored Alex like his own son, he couldn't afford to lose him to the people who hurt him.

Immediately the sun rose, Alex had gone to take Emma to her school while Jack pretended to have a throbbing headache. He picked up his phone and dialed the number that had warned him not to phone the police, hoping Rex would answer the call himself.

The call abruptly stopped ringing as someone answered it.

“Mr. Rex, please, let's meet at my apartment. I need to talk to you about Alex,” Jack muttered and a shrill voice replied. “Will be there,”
