She let out a shaky breath and went to pick it up.

Her fingers trembling as she opened it.

"Don't you think this is the state of your dead boyfriend now?" The note said.

It fell from her hands, anger slowly replacing the fear. Whoever was doing this to her and sending her this messages is clearly mocking her.

She couldn't report her predicament to the police, else, they'll look into her boyfriend's death and find her guilty as threatened, then at the end, she would be regretting her decision behind bars.

She shook her head vehemently, shaking away the image that appeared in her head and bringing herself back to reality. Something about the cat and the box felt familiar to her.

She frowned at it, racking her head. Then she remembered. She had seen something like this before the death of her parents.
