“But so easy to sneak out when you’re young.” I say, giving him an even look. Why do Sarian and him work so well together?

“Isaac ,” He warns.

“I’ve been on my own for three decades handling far more dire situations than this. I can handle myself.”

“No one is doubting that.” Alier says, breaking into our conversation. “However, this man has proven himself as to be incredibly dangerous. He managed to separate you and bite you. He could have killed you.”

“Which is exactly why I need to put him down now.” I argue. “I survived the bastard, and so far, I’m the only one in this room to have tracked him down twice. To bench me because of a birth mark is ludicrous.”

“Isaac , we can’t afford to lose you.”

“There are more important people in this room than me. Let me do my job. I’m good at it. I’ll take precautions, and I’ll have Wilson with me at all times.”
