Chapter 6

After working all day to look after Naomi, Kenric finally returned to the house rented by Baka.

 

"Have you eaten?" asked Baka, who had just come out of the kitchen.

 

"No, I didn't have time earlier." Kenric replied as he stepped into the room he was staying in.

 

"It looks like you did it on purpose. I just finished making the food, let's have dinner." Baka invited casually.

 

"Yeah, if there's food as good as a restaurant at home, why should I buy it outside." Kenric said as he took off his jacket.

 

"Don't compliment me, I'm not a woman who will fall for your compliments," Baka said as he returned to the kitchen after staring at the yard for a while.

 

Kenric, who had already changed his clothes, immediately stepped into the kitchen while saying, "I knew you wouldn't be tempted by my compliments, so I didn't exaggerate my words."

 

"Your mouth does contain poison," said Baka, who was now sitting on a dining chair with some food in front of him. "Did you bring a friend home today?" Baka talked about a car that he saw stop in front of his house after Kenric entered the house.

 

"It's my people, they're trying to protect me," replied Kenric, who had known from the start that Alex's men were following him.

 

"Wow, this is cool, a bodyguard who has a bodyguard," Baka joked with a chuckle.

 

Kenric who was turning his plate replied, "Don't try to be funny like that, it looks very forced."

 

"Ah, you guys are the same. It's hard to joke around," said Baka as he picked up some rice and side dishes.

 

"You guys?" Kenric turned to Baka.

 

"You and Gee," Baka replied casually.

 

Kenric let out a long breath. "It's not that we're hard to joke with, it's that your jokes are hard to take."

 

"Okay, I admit I'm not a comedian," Baka said as he laughed again and patted Kenric's shoulder because he thought what Kenric said was funny.

"Oh yeah, then how did you meet the people from your house? Didn't you say they were enemies? Do we have to move from here tomorrow?"

 

"No need," Kenric replied. "The men in my house are divided into two parts. The first obeys the orders of my parents, the second obeys the orders of my grandfather."

 

"And which one did you harm?" Baka asked further.

 

"It was my parents' men," Kenric replied as he picked up some rice. "My grandfather's men are the ones who tried to protect me all this time."

 

"Hem... I actually think that your stepmother conspired with your grandfather because she didn't want you to be the heir to the SIA company," Baka commented.

 

"No, he didn't. Didn't you ask yesterday about the military education program, it was all an order from my grandfather. Since my biological mother died, I was raised by my grandfather, and after graduating with the best grades, I returned to that house."

 

Baka concluded. "So that means the people who want to harm you are your father and mother?"

 

"Dad's been a neutral person so far, so the person who really wants to kill me should be that stepmother," Kenric replied.

 

"But if it's one of your parents' men, then your father should at least know about this. There's no way he wouldn't know something under his nose like that, especially since he's a big man," Baka commented.

 

Kenric was silent when he heard what Baka said. It all made sense, but his father had always been a person who loved him as much as he loved Harold, so Kenric had never thought that there was such a possibility.

 

"Well, let's talk about something else," Baka said as he watched Kenric's expression. "What about your head wound? Do we have to go to the hospital again or not? And it looks like Mr. Harvey's grandson was pretty nice to you, did anything happen?"  

 

Kenric put down his spoon. "A lot happened yesterday. Today, everything went well. It's just that I don't know why she was so eager to apply to work at the SIA company. I feel like something is off."

 

"Is it possible that Miss Naomi wants to get back together with your stepbrother? I've heard about their relationship, but I don't know for sure what happened because I came after they were no longer in contact," Baka said.

 

'So Naomi had a relationship with Harold. Wait, which Naomi had a relationship with Harold? The dead Naomi or the current Naomi? Is this about a love story or what? Why am I becoming more and more interested in that strange woman?' Kenric thought with a small smile, remembering Naomi's behavior that he found funny sometimes.

 

"Remember, she is a woman you must take care of," Baka quipped when he saw Kenric's small smile.

 

"I know that, I won't forget." Kenric replied, and then picked up his spoon again.

 

             Three days passed quickly. Like the previous days, Kenric's morning routine was to take Naomi to work.

 

"Look, I don't want any more scenes of you watching me secretly under the guise of an office boy or whatever, I want you to stay away from this place after I get into the company." Naomi said when Kenric had just turned off his car engine in the SIA company parking lot.

 

"But it's my duty," Kenric replied without hesitation.

 

Naomi massaged his forehead. "Look, why are you so hard to talk to? If you get caught cheating in a company as big as SIA, then you'll go to jail, and that will ruin all my plans."

 

'Plans? What is she planning?' Kenric wondered.

 

"I'll be careful Miss, I-" Kenric's sentence was interrupted when Naomi raised her hand.

 

"Look, you must know that I'm not as weak as those spoiled women. I can take care of myself in this company. Besides, isn't this also in your favor, you can be paid a full salary without doing anything. Then what makes you object like that?" Naomi tried to persuade Kenric.

 

Look, lady, I have principles as a bodyguard. I will not disappoint anyone by cheating like you said," Kenric replied seriously.

 

'It turns out that dealing with straight people is as annoying as dealing with cunning people,' Naomi thought while massaging her forehead.

"Alright then, it's up to you." Naomi said as she opened the car door.

 

"You can watch me at the company, but not for too long and not too close to me. And since your name is not on the employee list, so there will definitely be people who are suspicious if you are seen too often at the company, you understand?" Naomi said this while closing the car door.

 

"Yes, Miss, thank you," Kenric said.

 

"Don't thank me, because I'm not worried about you. I'm worried about myself," Naomi said as she walked away from the car.

 

"What a woman," muttered Kenric as he started the engine to leave the car outside SIA's premises.

 

However, when he was about to step on the gas, his cell phone suddenly vibrated. Kenric quickly opened the message that had just entered his cell phone.

 

"Well, if that's what's going to happen today, I better stay away from this company." Kenric said as he closed the message from Alex.

 

After that, Kenric adjusted his glasses and casually left the place.

 

Meanwhile, in Naomi's position. At this time, Naomi casually stepped through the front door of the company, but she suddenly stopped her steps when she saw a large photo clearly displayed not far from where she was standing at the moment.

 

'Why is he here?' thought Naomi, who had been frozen for a while, looking at the photo decorated with flowers and condolences at the bottom.

 

"Honey, why did you stop here? Did you know him?" A question from a man who didn't know when he was behind her made Naomi quickly retract her fake smile.

 

Naomi took a step forward to get away from the man behind her. A moment later, she slowly turned around. "I'm sorry sir, I was just surprised that there was sudden sad news like this." She replied politely.

 

Then quickly, the man pulled Naomi's hand. "He is my brother, isn't he also handsome like me?"

 

'Handsome? Even dogs are more attractive to me than you,' Naomi thought as she looked at the large photo again. 'And ya, who exactly is he?' Naomi thought as she stared at the photo.
