The street was still dark as night when the old man's men surrounded Leon. In a few seconds, he felt the strength of a thousand men, and the goons who failed to look intimidating to him before now appeared like toys.

"Aren't you going to beg for your life?" One of the goons sneered at him. Leon did not utter a word, he simply stood, studying their movement and determining their next action.

"He thinks being proud will get him out of this," another man spat right behind him, kicking him on his left leg. That was all the trigger that Leon needed, he quickly pulled off the bag he had slung on his shoulder and delivered a punch swiftly to the man who fell on the ground, unconscious.

"I swear, I don't want to use my gifts to hurt people but you guys never learn," he said coldly. The old man was shocked at how skillfully Leon had taken out one of his strongest men. He could see the uncertainty in the eyes of the rest.

"Are you going to let this piece of shit scare you?! Get him and

The crisp evening air chilled Leon slightly as he sat on the park bench and looked out into the open street. Being on the same bench brought back memories of when he had first met with Tracy. It had been a similar day but his heart was a lot broken after his diagnosis. He could recall her melodious voice as she called out to him on the street, begging for help. It was as if his entire life took a downward spiral from then on. It was now a circus show of drama, threats, people worshiping him and people trying to hurt him. Suddenly, a car pulled up right next to him and for a minute, looking at the fancy high heeled shoe that stepped out, his heart skipped as he thought of Tracy. But it wasn't her, another sophisticated lady walked out of the vehicle hand-in-hand with a man as they strolled into the park. Something woke inside of Leon at that moment, he looked around him and noticed that he was all alone. No one cared about him anyways despite his gifts. The incident at the bed

Passing through the third gate meant that they'd just gained access to the inner estate of the master. Fiona walked to the front door where two men, fully armed and uniformed, stood. She handed them a small slip which they inspected and then granted her access, but they tried to stop Leon. "He's with me," she said as they tried to stop him. The men looked at Leon with a puzzled expression. He didn't look like the kind of man that had any business with the master. "What's his business here?" One of the men asked, looking at Leon with a frown. Fiona was quickly getting irritated by all the protocols and so was Leon. But she'd been there a good number of times to know that the master's safety was a priority and they had to go through the procedures no matter how tiring. "He is a heal I have brought to cure the master," she replied once again. The man looked at Leon down to his worn-out sneakers and then asked, "Which hospital do you work in? Which medical school did you graduate

Fiona looked at Leon, she knew many things would bring her back to the Xavier estate. She had business deals with Xavier. Brian was also a close acquaintance. "Gideon, you know I will have to come back here, the professor and I have unfinished business," Fiona said. But she was surprised at Gideon's sudden cold voice as he replied, "That is none of my business, Fiona, it doesn't matter how much I like you, this is my final decision," he said coldly. Leon quickly tapped Fiona and said, "You don't have to do this, come on, I'm sure you have some important business that will bring you back here," he whispered. Gideon looked at them, a small smile on his face as he saw their confusing and apparent retreat. But suddenly, just as they got to the door, Fiona sighed and turned to Gideon. "I don't know why you're doing this. I understand that maybe you're fed up with the disappointment from several doctors, but I know Leon can do this," she said. "Then go ahead," he said with a cas

Thoroughly embarrassed and humiliated, Fiona and Leon left the Xavier Estate. Fiona was unusually quiet as they drove down the quiet suburban district. All valuable contact with the professor would automatically be terminated. It would bring her a lot of lost deals and she could only imagine what that would do to her company. "I'm sorry that I put your entire network at risk," Leon apologized, he was still leaning on the leather seat of the car as they drove. His bones were still a little fragile and his heart was still racing wildly. Leon had not been appreciated for his healing instead, the messenger, Gideon had embarrassed him and looked down on him, this was not helpful to his deity power. "You don't have to worry about that, it's not your fault that you couldn't heal Professor Xavier at once," Fiona said to him with assurance, she could already see the guilt in his eyes at not only disappointing her but having her banished from the estate for life. "But you mentioned that

" Poisoned?" Fiona asked and he nodded. Her eyes became wide and she asked what he meant by that. "Poisoned by who?" She asked. Leon shook his head, "I'm not a prophet, I'm only a healer, I can't decipher that, all I know is that the substance in his bloodstream is a poison and that is what is killing him, slowly," he replied. Fiona held her hands to her chest, clearly mortified by such information. "What does this mean? That someone is trying to kill him?" She asked. That was not Leon's deduction to make. As much as he would love to say that it was possibly something else, from his diagnosis, there was no way that the master could have been ingesting the poison for so long without knowing that he was slowly killing himself. "Oh my goodness, who would want the professor dead?" Fiona asked out loud and noticed that even the driver who was usually so stoic looked mortified too. "We'll have to find out," Leon replied and Fiona nodded, still looking stricken. "But that's not all,"

The city was just as he'd seen the previous night - quite lifeless. But then maybe it was because he'd woken a little too early that morning. The sun was barely breaking through the sky when he pulled on his running shoes and was out on the sidewalk - he could have been right at the center of the lane for all he cared, there was nothing on the road. Leon jogged down to a quiet place where he stretched a little and continued the run shortly after. With his headphones plugged in, he didn't hear much. His mind began to wander. He thought of Fiona and Tracy and Professor Xavier and the clinic he was about to start. He was running out of time and there was nothing he could show for all his months of trying to get himself a job. A few minutes away, the path he'd taken narrowed to a small track and Leon was about to turn away when he suddenly heard a voice from the thick bushes. It sounded like a whimper and Leon was curious. He stopped in his tracks and turned down his music, pulli

Emelda had the nastiest expression on her face as she glowered at him. "Who was that?" She asked. Leon looked at her like she'd just lost her mind - and she might have for all he cared. Last he checked, he wasn't tangled with any woman who could lay claims to him, much more than Emelda. "Come on, don't play dumb with me, who was that?" She asked again. Leon sneered at her and then looked at Jenna as she sat, staring at them both. "What are you doing in my house? How did you get in?" He asked all at once. He looked back at the door and the lock still seemed intact. "About how we got in, you left the door open, figured we could make ourselves at home while you..." she said as she looked at his outfit and then added, "Went for a run." Leon couldn't remember locking the front door so he assumed he'd left it open. "Open or not, you had no right to come in here and take my couch without my permission," he snapped. "Oh please, we are friends now, I'm sure we ought to get past

Fiona George stood in the parking lot of the fancy boutique, her hands akimbo, her dainty feet clad in a tiny Louboutin, her eyes hidden behind a pair of sunglasses. She was truly beautiful but she didn't look happy. The phone in her hand swung from side to side, like she was contemplating on throwing it in the trashcan to her left or just tossing it into the busy street to get crushed under the tyres of the trucks that raced by. "Just pick up the freaking call!" She snapped to no one in particular and then groaned loudly. She couldn't believe that she'd been calling one person for almost two dozen times. It wasn't her style. Fiona was the CEO of her own company, she was not used to begging anyone, much more after being dismissed the first time. Her pride was badly bruised and she needed to remind herself from time to time that she was doing it for a good cause. Stomping to the roof of the Bentley, she sat there and slammed her fist slightly on the bonnet, making the driver

Leon stepped out of the party with Tracy right behind him. He hadn't been in the same place with such elite people in such a long time and he had mixed feelings. Tracy was so proud of what she had done. She wanted to create a new name for herself. No more was she willing to be the daddy's girl that did everything that her parents wanted even when it had nothing to do with her own career goals and aspirations. "Tracy!" A voice called to her from behind and she turned to look at her mother who was really dressed and coming to her with a fierce frown. "How could you do this!" She snapped. Tracy looked at her sternly, she didn't look remorseful at all. "What did you expect mum? If you really think that I would go ahead and marry that man that had nothing to do with my destiny?" She asked with a scowl on her pretty face. "Even if you're disrespecting your father, do you have to do it in such a crass manner? I know that I raised you better than this. I raised you to be more

Leon and Tracy arrived at the party in a short while. They both stepped out of the Maserati and heads turned in their direction. Tracy's dress turned out to be the most lovely and unique in the entire place and this made the ladies stare in envy and the men in lust. "I'm glad that you came with me tonight, I would not have been able to fend off all these men on my own," she said and shook her head. At the door of the party, the bouncer did not even have to ask who Tracy you was because she was the only daughter of Sylvester Caden. But apart from coming as her date, most people in the club already knew Leon and he would not have had a hard time gaining access anyways. "Welcome Miss Tracy. Your mother has been looking for you all evening, kindly take the front seat please," one of the many ushers at the event said and let Tracy to her seat very close to the podium. Settled down and with a table and several bottles of expensive wine before them, Tracy and Leon could not help

Stepping out of the car, Leon came face-to-face with a very nicely dressed Tracy. She looked magnificent in her black dress and curled hair. The bags framed her face beautifully and he had to admit that she was really pretty. "Hello, Leon, it's been forever since I last saw you," she said and walked up to him to give him a hug. Leon bit her and then pulled away just as she looked like she was melting right in his arms. "It's just been a few days, Tracy, I'm sorry I haven't called, I've been busy," he said. Tracy looked at him and chuckled. "I should be the one apologizing for not being able to meet you or even give a call. I apologize but I've been very busy and I have good news," she said all in one breath. Leon was glad to hear that she had good news. So far all he seemed to be hearing in his life was one bleak story or the other. It felt great to await something good for a change. "I'm all ears, what news do you bring?" He asked. Tracy smirked proudly and walked back

Leaving the premises, Leon couldn't help but feel like a huge burden had been lifted off his shoulders. He no longer had to worry about XLT and the mess that Hopkins and his cohort had made of it. "Fucking corrupt bastards!" Leon sneered from the backseat of the car as it rolled down the street. He didn't think it could be so easy to actually steal from the company, but clearly he'd been very wrong. Both the accountant, the clerical officer and Lily, his secretary had a lot to answer to. "Sir, where to?" Hector asked as they moved out of the place. He was glancing at him through the rearview mirror. "I don't know, Hector, just drive away from here," he urged with a glare. The driver nodded and sped off, out of the neighborhood completely. It was going to be a very long and tiring procedure to fish out everyone that was involved in the embezzlement but Leon was ready for it. There was no way he was going to allow them to take what belonged to the company and go scot free.

Walking out of XlT with his head held high, he couldn't help but notice all the stares that different members of staff were giving him. He was done trying to please everyone, he was done trying to make them all agree with him being the boss. Power had to be taken and Leon was damn rich to grab it with both hands. Leon was outside the premises, all the other staff were still lurking in the lobby, trying to get a better view of what was going to happen outside without being outrightly lookers. "Sir, you have to reconsider, we can't let all the members of the board go," Lily said, running after him, her high heels clicking on the tiled floor.Turning to her with a sharp gaze, he asked, "Which would you rather prefer, a team of old men who will revolt at the slightest chance or no one at all on the board?" He asked. Lily knew that was a tricky question to answer. For as long as she had been working for XLT, there was always a board of directors, Leon dissolving it all in one day as well

Hector sat in the car, glancing at Leon through the rearview mirror. He has doubts about his master's readiness to face the big sharks at XLT again - especially so soon after all that he'd faced. But Leon wasn't acting like he wasn't ready for them, he seemed to be ready for anything at all. Right from when he woke up from the hospital bed, he'd gone straight down to help Fiona and it seemed he wasn't getting any good sleep in-between. "Master, are you ready to go in?" Hector asked and he didn't even miss a breath when he added. "I could call the secretary immediately to have the entire meeting rescheduled, if you're not up for it," he said. Leon chuckled at the speed with which he quickly said he wouldn't mind rescheduling. "It seems you're hoping that I'm not ready for the meeting so that you could quickly reschedule," he stated. Hector sighed, "If I may speak freely, sir, this has been one of the hardest weeks for you. I don't know how you've been able to fire through the

Fiona stared in awe as she recalled that Leon had insisted on coming to the party even after turning her down the first time. It was quite unlike him to come to any party, especially one that he was sure would be filled up with ladies and music and as it actually turned out - strippers. She didn't understand why he had suddenly changed his mind. "Leon, it's true that you didn't want to come to the party in the first place, you're right," Fiona said and looked at him worriedly. Elsa was still defensive and tried to convince her friend that the man was lying and she would never want to hurt her for any reason. "Fiona, how could you believe this man over me? You left you at the party and went elsewhere, isn't it clear that he's trying to ruin your good time?" She asked, trying to play the emotional trick on her. "Leon, talk to me, why did you show up at that party? Why did you change your mind?" Fiona asked him, this time her eyes were fiercely on him, she believed that there was
