Tracy and Leon hadn't driven a good distance away when suddenly they noticed that a car was taking them. Leon looked behind and then the driver signaled his boss that there was a car after them. "Miss Caden, there is a black BMW trailing us," the driver said. Tracy looked behind and then huffed, "Really? Is this the cops coming at us again?" She asked impatiently. "I don't think so," Leon replied as he looked at the window. He could recognize that car from a good distance and it certainly didn't look like a cop vehicle. In fact, he had an idea who it belonged to. "I think it's Xavier's men." He said. Eyes wide, Tracy turned to look at the car again. It was a single BMW in front and a couple of SUVs moving behind it. "I can't see anyone from here, how did you know that?" She asked. "I know that Xavier has a liking for BMWs, I've seen a lot of them in his compound," he replied. Tracy still couldn't get it. She'd only heard the rumors around town that there was a healer wh
After Leon left Tracy, he realized two things. First, he came to the realization that his life had really changed in a matter of weeks and then he also realized that he wasn't truly safe. With the case of the cops and Emelda, he realized that he had to live more like the man he was. The entire city expected more from him and living in the trashy apartment wasn't just going to cut it. He arrived late at the apartment that night and called on one of the men Xavier had assigned to him. He hasn't really ever called for their help and right then he needed to use them. He packed up everything he had - which really wasn't much more than a duffel bag. He wasn't sure he would ever really need any of it again but he took it anyway. At almost midnight, they arrived at a big duplex which the man ushered him into. "This is your new home, it's one of the mansions that master Xavier has left in your possession," the dark man said. "Thanks for helping me park..." Leon said and dragged out the l
That same day, later in the evening when most of the staff at the office had locked up and cleared out their desks for the day's work. Lily peeked into Leon's office and asked him if he wasn't going home too. "It's been a tiring day I think, shouldn't you be going home, sir?" She asked him with a smile. Leon sighed, it indeed was a tiring day for him but he hadn't been able to get much done because of his constant worry. His mind kept going back to what Oliver had said. He couldn't function in the company until he'd left his mark. "I'm good, I should be heading home anytime soon," he replied with a smile of his own and she left the door, bidding him goodnight. Leon rose from the swivel chair and pulled down the Venetian blinds. He could see the reflection of the moon right into the office, it was dark and the perfect time for him to have a tour of the office but he didn't want to appear like a creep to the janitor whom he was sure was still in the building. The office spac
Hopkins Greg sat on the arm chair in the conference room. He decided to be there even though the secretary, Lily, had clearly told him that the seat was reserved only for the CEO and he should take the others. But Hopkins wasn't just there for a meeting, he was there to see the new CEO for himself. "Sir, you might have to__" Lily began to say but he cut her in sharply, "I shouldn't be discussing with a mere secretary when I'm the biggest investor in this company, I either speak with him or I leave," he snapped. Lily tried a kind smile and politely shook her head, "Of course not, Mr Hopkins, you are very valuable to us and we wouldn't want you to leave at all, please, sit," she said and quickly went off. Hopkins had a cheek smile on his face. He could already guess that Lily would respond that way even before she did. He was the biggest investor in XLT and he didn't expect that she'd be happy about him walking away. Hopkins Greg wasn't only furious at being kept waiting, he was
The front porch of the clinic was filled with uniformed officers. Incidentally, for the past few days Leon seemed to have a lot of run-ins with the cops, it seemed uniformed officers were virtually trailing him about. But for a change, Leon wasn't the subject of assault that time, he just couldn't see whoever it was because the whole place was entirely swarmed. Not only were the cops trying to arrest someone but the crowd was massive too. "Stop the car," Leon said to Hector who stepped on the brake promptly and he stepped down from the vehicle, looking at the front door. It was the clinic he'd tried working at when he first discovered his talents. The rejection he received that morning after getting a laundered shirt and new shirt still hit him afresh as he walked to the clinic. Then, it felt like his entire life was going to end. He didn't know what to do and thought no one would ever accept him, a few months down the line and the story was entirely different. He almost coul
The doctor walked up to him, almost jogging to catch up. Leon turned to Hector and told him to wait a little at the car. He looked at the doctor who couldn't stare at him in the eyes. "I knew you were familiar when you walked in but I couldn't place it," he said slowly, all the while, not meeting his eyes. "I guess we will meet again," Leon said with a plain look on his face. He didn't hate the doctor for what he did, he understood that life was a little gray around the edges and people didn't really have to help him. He didn't have to be loved, all he had to do was save people and make sure no one trampled on him while at it. "I'm sorry, I know the last time we met wasn't very pleasant," he said and looked at the car that was parked across the road, he nodded at it and asked, "So this is yours now?" "It doesn't matter, I'm glad you didn't get arrested, it would have ruined your reputation," he said. The doctor nodded, "About the last time..." He started to say again but t
Hopkins was daring him before the entire crowd, he could see the eager faces of all his staff gazing at him, practically asking him to agree to what Hopkins had just said. Leon turned to Lily with an arched brow, his eyes red with fury. Lily shrugged and whispered, "I told you it was a shit show, sir." Hopkins on the other hand didn't look affected at all, he rather looked pleased at Leon's anger. "Who said I was going to step down?" He asked and Hopkins feigned shock. He did it so perfectly that for a minute, Leon almost believed that the man was genuinely surprised. "What? You said it yourself, Leon, you said you were stepping down, you agreed it was a good idea for you to step down and let someone who really knew what the company was about to actually take over," Hopkins said. Leon couldn't believe the effrontery of the foolish man. Did he really think he was going to abdicate just because he called the entire office and made a false announcement? "Lily, who called this
Xavier sat at the edge of the desk with a bottle of champagne between himself and Leon. Both men hadn't tasted the drink since it was served by the kind Italian waiter, they were both tense and waiting for who would break the ice. "I heard what happened at XLT," Xavier said almost at the same time that Leon decided to speak. "You go first," Xavier added but Leon simply shook his head and offered to speak instead. "So, what happened?" He asked. "Nothing of significance, a few changes just needs to be made at the office, that's all," he replied. Leon didn't feel comfortable looking like a lowly staff member being questioned by his superior. He could see the effort that Xavier had put into making him feel relaxed. The man was dressed in a simple T-shirt and a pair of denim but a baseball cap to go with it. He even attempted to take up a game of chase with him before they sat down to the conversation but Leon wasn't really up to it and it must have been quite obvious at some point.
