CHAPTER SIXTY FIVE

Xavier looked down from the top floor and noticed that the guard that Gideon had dragged out with him landed on the pavement in an awkward position while Gideon himself was nowhere to be found.

Gideon had been planning his own escape from the very first day that he got into the master's room three years ago. He wasn't daft to believe that he would never be caught. He knew one day that someone might run into him and he'd have to make a quick escape - however he had always thought that the someone in question would be a servant and not the entire family waking up to see and harass him.

All that Gideon had to do was order that a small clove be made and attached to the main building two years ago. He made sure also that there was a garden planted right below it and that garden had nothing but tomatoes and cabbage, a sort of cushion that expanded down to the left wing of the house.
