Chapter 3

"What is this? A free club membership card?" she shouted angrily.

"Does this place look like a joke to you?"

"Not only are you wretched and poor, you're also mentally derailed." she shouted at him, making everyone look at him.

"Security! Please come and drag this boy out of this place." she continued.

Before Damson could explain that he gave her the wrong card, the security guards already dragged him out.

"I have the membership card.” Damson shouted as he struggled with the security guards..

"You don't have it, you liar." she replied, walking towards him.

"I think you need to go for a check up. I understand why you are behaving like this. Poverty can make you think of the impossible."

"You do not have the membership card." she continued

"Will you at least, let me prove that I have the card, before you come up with your ridiculous conclusions?" Damson said angrily.

"I put the club membership card and the bank membership card together in my pocket, so they got mixed up. This is the membership card." Damson said as he brought out a golden card.

Emily saw the golden card flash under the sun. It was the bank's membership card. Her expression changed immediately. She was surprised to see the card with Damson.

"Where did he get the card from? Who gave it to him? Did he steal it?" she thought to herself.

"The golden membership card is owned by the CEO'S family alone. How come Damson has it?" She questioned herself.

"How did you get this card? Do you even know the people that have access to this type of card? How did you get it?" she asked.

"I don't have to answer those questions, do I? The point is that I have the membership card you requested for and I want you to process my withdrawal." Damson replied

Emily reluctantly collected the card from Damson and made her way into the bank. She couldn't stop thinking about how the card belonged to Damson.

Damson couldn't help but feel a mixture of frustration and anger.

He didn't like how he was rough handled by the security guards and he wasn't enjoying the looks he was getting from the customers in the bank.

Emily put the card into the machine that sat before her and decided to check the balance in the account and her eyes and mouth widened in shock as she saw the figures in the account.

She checked the name on the account and saw Damson's name there. She couldn't believe it.

She had worked for over 5 years in the bank and had never seen that amount of money before.

She realized she might have just harassed the most important client of their bank.

"Will she lose her job? Will she be asked to stop working as a cashier? How will the bank manager react when he finds out?" she thought to herself, panicking.

"I have to fix this." she said to herself.

She looked at Damson in his tattered cloth and was trying to wrap her head around the fact that he had billions of dollars sitting in his account.

He had been poor all his life and couldn't even afford to take care of himself and according to what her brother told her, He worked several odd jobs for his classmates to be able to pay his school fee.

She stood up and addressed Damson respectfully.

"Please have your seat inside this room while I process your withdrawal sir." she said, with a bright smile on her face.

Damson was shocked. He was surprised at the change of Emily's attitude towards him. She was suddenly nice to him.

"Is this the same lady that insulted, disrespected and treated him as a nobody." he thought to himself.

"Oh! She must have seen the money in the account and also checked the name on the account and found out the name was his."

"What his father told him was true and real. He is a rich man!"

"Any client with the golden card membership is the most important, respected and valued customer in our bank and must sit in the VIP room while they are being attended to" Emily said to him.

"While you wait for your withdrawal to be processed, Do you care for a drink? There is coffee, tea, juice and water." she said, bowing her head respectfully.

"Water is enough." Damson replied coldly.

He hasn't forgotten how she treated him and her sudden change in behavior towards him wasn't going to change how she has always treated him.

He remembered how she would laugh and insult him whenever he came to deliver some of the things her brother, his roommate sent to her.

He knew she was just acting nice because she realized or might have an idea that he is not who she knew before.

"I'll be right back." she responded with a smile and went out.

Damson looked around the room, happy to be treated as an important person for the

first time in his life. He relaxed himself and waited for Emily to return.

"Who are you and what are you doing here!" A voice boomed, making Damson sit up in shock as he already dozed off on the chair.

"Good afternoon. I am— "Who do you think you are?" The voice cut him off before he could reply.

"Did you not read the sign at the door? Have you lost your way? This room is for the VIP's and from what I can see you're not one!" the man shouted angrily.

"The cashier directed me here, and told me to wait while she processed my withdrawal." Damson explained.

"As the manager of this bank, none of the workers would look at you and direct you into this room."

"You said you're here to withdraw money? How much does a shabby and tattered looking man have in his account that he would be asked to come into the VIP's room?" Mr James, the bank manager, questioned.

"How did the security guards let you into the bank in the first place? They should know a thief from the normal bank customers". he said angrily, looking at Damson with disgust.

"I am not a thief!" Damson said as he stood up angrily. I came here to withdraw—

"Don't you say anything! Is this a joke? You keep talking about some nonsense withdrawal, I know it's part of your games. Your plan to steal from this bank won't work." the bank manager said.

Damson was getting angry, it was the second time he would be called a thief in an hour. He tried to explain to the bank manager but he wasn't giving him a chance to.

"How about you ask the cashier yourself. She brought me to this room herself. I didn't ask to be put in this so-called VIP's room and I'm not here to steal!" Damson said angrily, clenching and unclenching his fist.

"I don't want to hear any form of explanation from you. I will not let you damage the reputation of this bank." he replied.

"Security! Security! Come and drag this lowlife away from this room and out of this bank." The bank manager shouted, his face flushing with anger.
