Chapter 2

I'm the what?" Damson asked, trying to hold back his laughter.

"You're the next heir to the family's company, young master and we need you.” The caller replied.

Damson burst out in a fit of laughter. "Is this a prank?" "This must be a prank.” He said.

"This is not a prank young master, there's a lot to talk about, which I cannot do over the phone. Would you kindly tell me your location, I'll come and pick you up.” The caller said.

Damson kept quiet for a moment. He had no idea who the caller was and he was skeptical about revealing his location just like that.

"I'm a student of Palmers University. You can wait at the university gate. I'll meet you there.” Damson said, after so much begging from the caller to share his location.

"Thank you, young master.”The caller said happily

"I'll be there as early as possible.” He said before disconnecting the call.

Damson went back to sleep, his mind lingering around Mia, her betrayal and the call with the stranger.

It was 10am in the morning. Damson stood in front of the university's gate, waiting for the caller to show up.

He had been standing there for about an hour, as he expected that the caller would have been waiting for him.

"This is just a prank! I shouldn't have fallen for it!”

"Young master"? Me? What was I thinking?" Damson scolded himself.

"I'm done here, I'm leaving.” He said to himself. As he turned to leave, he heard the sound of a car screeching to a halt, which made him stop.

In front of him was a car. A black and golden car, A porsche. A car that screamed luxury.

He opened his eyes and mouth in shock.

Although Palmers university has a lot of rich kids attending it, he had never seen a car as luxurious as this before.

Young master! Forgive me!" A man dressed in a white tailored suit knelt and bowed before him, breaking him out of his amazement.

"I'm so sorry for the delay, Young master. Forgive me.” The man cried out.

Damson was in shock. He didn't understand what was going on.

Did this man just come out of the most luxurious car he has ever seen in his life? "Is this a dream?" He asked, pinching himself.

"Young master, I need you to come with me. Please.” The man cried out again, breaking Damson out of his thoughts.

"Are you sure I'm not the wrong person?" Damson asked, as he raised the man up to his feet. He was so confused.

He didn't know why a man so expensively dressed would respect him and kneel in front of him, calling him Young master.

"No.” The man said. "Please just come with me.”

Damson kept mute for a while, before slowly nodding his head in agreement.

"Alright, take me to see my family.” He said.

"Okay, young master!" The man said, as he turned and hurriedly opened the door for Damson, closed it, before rushing to the driver's seat to drive off.

After some minutes, the car stopped in front of a massive gate, and in black bold letters was written "Malcom" on it.

"That's my surname.” Damson said to himself. He was confused and had so many questions to ask.

"We're here young master. Your parents are inside waiting for you.” The man, whose name was Luis, said to Damson as he opened the door for him.

Damson stared shamelessly at the building in front of him. It was so big, it should be called a mansion. He couldn't believe he was standing in front of a magnificent building.

He followed Luis inside the house and was told to enter a room.

Damson stepped inside the room and was immediately crushed into a hug.

“My son, My child! I'm so happy to see you after so many years.” A feminine voice cried out.

"Mom?” Damson called out in a shaky voice. "Are you really my mum?"

"Yes son, yes. I am.” She said, holding his face, as tears streamed down her face.

"Son, it's good to see you again.” A voice said from inside the room. It was Damson's father.

"I know you're confused and have a lot of questions. We are ready to answer them.” He said.

Damson sat down, trying to keep himself calm.

"I thought I had no parents as I was raised in the orphanage. I'm surprised to hear that all of a sudden, I have a family somewhere.” He said

"We put you in the orphanage ourselves. His father said. It is part of the family rules to give the heir a test. We had to test you to see how you can survive with no support from anyone.”

"We had to test your survival skill, to prepare you to rule and inherit the empire".

"This must be a joke.” Damson exclaimed.

“You put a young child in the care of total strangers!? You made me live a life filled with lies? You made me believe I had no parents!”

"We're so sorry Damson.”His mother said. "We're so sorry we lied to you right from when you were young, but we had too.”

Damson was stunned. He didn't know how to feel. He was livid. He couldn't believe what he was hearing from his parents.

He had lived a miserable life, begging and working as a lowly servant for his mates. He struggled every single day.

"This is too much for me to handle.” he said bitterly, as he stood up to leave.

Wait!" His father called out. "I know it is too much for you to handle. You can take your time, but before you leave, I want to give you the papers to your properties and your credit cards”

“They're rightfully yours". You met our requirements and they're finally yours. He said, smiling at him.

Damson collected the papers and cards with shaky hands, as he was still in shock.

On his way back to his dorm, he kept thinking about the meeting with his parents.

One moment, he was working as a servant for his mates, struggling to survive, another moment, he's holding papers to properties he never knew he owned.

"Is this a dream? This must be a dream, right?” He wondered aloud.

He looked at the credit cards with him and decided to try it out.

He hurriedly went to the bank, as he remembered that he had taken out some loan in the past to pay his girlfriend, now ex, school fee.

He tried to shake off the thought of her betrayal and focus on what he had to do at the bank.

He wanted to be sure his parents weren't joking, and to also confirm he wasn't dreaming.

"The poor man is here again.” A voice sneered as soon as he stood in front of the cashier.

He had forgotten that Emily, Caleb's sister, worked as a cashier at the bank. Emily was as rude and snobbish as her brother, if not worse.

They both have terrible behaviors and treated him like he was trash, like he was a nobody.

"Did my brother send you to me again?” she asked, looking at him with disgust.

"No, I'm here to withdraw some money.” He said to her, "I need one million dollars in cash.”

Emily burst out into a fit of laughter. "Are you drunk?” She asked him.

"Are you that poverty stricken that it's already affecting you mentally?”

See this wretched man, asking to withdraw a million dollars. She said, laughing hard. “Are you joking?” she asked him.

“I'm not.” Damson said.

"Show me your membership card.” she said, folding her arms, confident that he wouldn't have one.

It was only the extraordinarily rich people that used the bank, and there was no way Damson would have one.

Damson reached into his pocket and handed her a card.

He got it along with the credit cards from his father.
