After several more minutes of discussion and plans on how to handle the Kyusei, the next reason for this gathering began.

"Let them in."

The hallway was unnervingly silent as Art and the others stood outside the grand chamber, waiting.

They weren’t alone. A handful of palace guards were stationed around them, ensuring no one stepped out of line. Most of them had exhausted expressions, though they stood firm. Some were even glancing at the group with admiration.

Art couldn’t blame them. These were the people who had fought tooth and nail to protect the palace, the royal family, and, by extension, the entire kingdom. He was just… there.

His eyes drifted toward the head guard—who was notably missing an arm. He had yet to see the man after the battle, so there was no avoiding it now.

"You brat," the head guard muttered as he approached, eyeing Art like he was some unruly recruit. "You really had me worried back there."

Art blinked, caught off guard. "Me? I thought you were too busy b

You have bled, fought, and endured hardship not for glory, not for coin, but for something far greater—my children, your future rulers, the heirs of this kingdom.

Everyone in the room, from the regular guards to the Pillars and Leaders, was astonished when Art spoke up—more so, with complete composure."Ho..." Draca Vampir leaned forward, an intrigued smile forming on her lips. She wasn't the only one interested.'How is he able to stay calm under their gazes?' the head guard wondered in shock. Even he wouldn’t be this relaxed. The king studied Art, equally surprised, before a faint smile appeared on his face. 'It seems my daughter has really good eyes.'"What is your name?" the king asked. A question like this meant the king had personally taken an interest in him. Art knew this well. At this point, there was no use in trying to keep a low profile."I am Art Von Silver, Your Majesty." The moment he spoke his name, everyone's attention snapped toward the Silver family, who had remained conspicuously quiet throughout the discussion.Seated among them was the Silver Family Patriarch, Astre Von Silver, a man in his sixties with long silver hair

"Art!"Hearing his name, Art turned his head and saw Elora walking toward him. The meeting had ended.“Oh, hi,” he greeted, raising a hand lazily. It was the first time they had seen each other since the attack, and Elora felt a strange sense of relief at his casual demeanor. He wasn’t using formalities or bowing his head. That was exactly what she wanted. She wanted to be seen as a person, not a royal figure bound by duty and expectations. If she could get him to stop acting formally around her, that would be a step in the right direction. But beyond that, she was still struggling to process the fact that he was alive. When she woke up after the incident, she had learned of everything he had done. • The Successor System    What day?

In a brightly lit room, a man with glasses sat behind a large table, raising his eyebrows at what he had just heard."If I heard you correctly, you're saying he wishes for us to be his benefactor?""You're right, sir," the person standing before him confirmed. This man was the Supreme Guard of the kingdom. Not only was he in charge of the guards, but he also handled many important affairs such as this. He was essentially the king’s right-hand man."Interesting," the Supreme Guard murmured, his expression unreadable. A brief silence followed as he considered the request, amusement flickering in his eyes."Inform him that his request has been approved. The royal family is now his benefactor. Ensure all the privileges associated with that title are met.""Are you sure about this?" The man standing before him hesitated. Given his own respectable position, he had the right to question such a decision."Yes. I'm certain. His Majesty wouldn't object either," the Supreme Guard replied firmly.

After resting up a little and freshening up, Art headed out of his room. His goal today was to get the final piece for his escape plan.He needed to copy the attribute of a male student. His magic was very spectacular, and Art had doubts about whether he’d even be able to copy it now.It was too bad that such wonderful magic ended up in the hands of a jerk.Art spent the next forty minutes searching for him. He asked for directions from people who had last sighted him, which eventually led him to a boy seated alone on a bench, seemingly lost in thought."Hey!" The boy snapped out of his thoughts, turning to Art."How can I help you?""I'm looking for Lance," Art replied, standing over him. "Do you know where he is by chance?""Huh? Why?""Well… you can say that he has something of mine," Art grinned slightly. The boy’s eyes brightened. "That must mean you’re the boyfriend of the girl he took away earlier!" he exclaimed. ‘Why is he smiling, though?’‘He has me all wrong,’ Art thought,

  • The Successor System    Limitations

Art sat on a rock near the waterfall, watching as two identical figures stood in front of him. These were his clones—the most he could produce with the clone attribute he had copied. At first, he hadn’t given much thought to copying it, but after using both attributes in combat, he realized just how well they complemented each other.By creating clones with ten percent of his strength and switching between them using the space-switch attribute, he could maneuver unpredictably in battle. As a close to mid-range fighter, this ability was invaluable. It could help him escape dire situations and create openings against his opponents. But there were still limitations. He could only create two clones per hour. If one of them was destroyed, he’d have to wait an entire hour to summon another. Worse, the limit remained the same—no matter how long he waited, he could never exceed two clones at a time. The space-switch attribute was restricted too. He could only switch places five times every th

The two groups stared each other down as the pressure steadily rose. Even those who had been in the middle of sparring stopped to observe the confrontation. The ones who had just walked in were Elites—high-ranking students of the academy—comprising the 6th, 8th, 11th, 14th, 15th, and 18th ranks. They were being led by the 6th rank, who was doing most of the speaking. Iris had no intention of getting into a confrontation with them. The Silvers had simply come here for a friendly spar amongst themselves. There was no need for unnecessary conflict. Also, she didn't like the look Beatrix was making."We’ll use the largest sparring stage on the left," Iris stated calmly, hoping to end things before they escalated. "You guys can take the one on the right."But she was mistaken."Oh?" The 6th-ranked Elite grinned. "And who gave you the right to decide that?"A wave of murmurs rippled through the growing crowd. More students began arriving at the sparring grounds, the news spreading like wil

He planned on sending a message to everyone before leaving so they wouldn't dare mess with the clone he'd leave behind. "To take care of a problem?" Asura asked. "What do you mean by that?""It's simple. Someone is growing stronger—too fast. He might become a threat to our position. I feel the need to handle him before that happens. I believe we can take care of it, but in case of any miscalculations in the future, we might need your help," Uramia explained, taking a seat at the edge beside Asura.Asura already had an idea who she was talking about, but just to be sure, she asked, "And who is this person?"Uramia's gaze sharpened as she replied. "I'm sure you're acquainted with him. You were both victims of the raid accident. His name is Art Von Silver."After the battle between the Elites and the Silvers, Uramia had overheard a younger girl recounting the details of the fight to Asura. She had been nearby, watching closely, and was surprised at how attentively Asura listened. It was the first time she had ever seen the lilac princess show such interest in someone’s story. Even more intriguing, Asura h

Caitlyn took Valor back to the field where she had met the professor earlier. She was hoping to see him, but he was no longer there."This looks like a good enough place," Valor muttered, glancing around. He then turned toward her. "Let's begin by seeing how much you can summon."She stretched out her hands, and after a brief distortion in space, a teddy bear appeared in her grasp.Valor’s lips twitched slightly at the sight. "Don't tell me this is it?""It is," Caitlyn replied truthfully, causing him to facepalm. "But I think you're jumping to conclusions. Tera here is very strong. Let me show you."Caitlyn poured some of her mana into the teddy bear. Almost immediately, it began growing in size, its form shifting as it developed a faint level of consciousness. Its growth stopped at ten feet, making it tower over Valor."I guess it's not that bad after all," he muttered. "Is there anything else you can summon?""No," she admitted. "It's only Tera."Valor let out a sigh. "At least it'

It took Caitlyn even longer than expected to find Valor.Back in the dream, the fox had told her to find him. She was pretty sure it had been referring to Valor—after all, he was the only male soul summoner in the entire school.Ultimately, she found him seated alone in a secluded building, his posture slumped, a defeated expression clouding his face.Well, considering he had actually been defeated two days ago, it wasn’t all that surprising. He was so lost in thought that he only noticed her when she got very close. His gaze shifted toward her, his brows furrowing. "Who are you?" he asked, frowning."Uh—sorry to bother you. My name is Caitlyn Slerh. I'm a summoner, also in the first year." She figured he wouldn’t recognize her since he rarely attended classes. "I’d like you to help me with summoning magic.""You’ve really got some nerve," he scoffed. "Leave before I get any angrier.""I'm sorry, but I can't do that. I need to tackle my problem if I want to keep up with him. Please he

Shallow breaths escaped along with gasps as the darkness around a girl twisted into a white landscape. She stood at the center of the brightly lit scenery, a thick white mist curling around her ankles. It felt both cold and hot at the same time.Faint echoes of whispers drifted from the distance beyond.Suddenly, a deep growl rumbled through the air.Her body tensed as she slowly turned. And there it stood before her—a towering nine-tailed fox with gleaming white fur. Its crimson eyes burned like embers, and each of its nine tails swayed along with the wind. She tried to step back, but she found herself unable to move. The fox advanced, its massive paws making no sound as it circled her."Why are you scared?" A soft, layered feminine voice slithered through her mind. Her eyes widened, her breathing becoming faster and more labored."W-Who are you?" she barely managed to whisper."I am the one you freed and saved. I am sincerely grateful for that, so I shall dedicate myself to serving

  • The Cost of Escape

*Pant**Pant**Pant*Art slowly brought his breathing under control. He had been so close to dying once again. He placed a hand on his damp, bloodied chest. He had managed to escape by using the space swap attribute he copied to switch places with the clone he left in the forest. Normally, the space swap attribute didn’t work over such long distances, but it works specially well with the clone attribute since the clone carried the same mana signature as him. So, It was successful—though at an immense cost. The technique had drained a large amount of his mana, leaving his MP low. He had also timed it as perfectly as he could, but she had been too fast, managing to partially pierce him before the switch. If he had been even an instant slower, he would be dead by now."I need to leave," he muttered, pushing himself up and staggering away. This place had nearly killed him twice—he had no intention of returning.Art navigated through the forest, even though he had no real idea where he wa

Art’s grip on his weapon weakened slightly at the sight of the person staring down at him. From the inscriptions on her eye, he could tell—she was part of that group. And judging by the sheer presence she exuded, she was powerful. Very powerful.Fighting was out of the question."Is something wrong?"Another voice drifted in.'Wait… there’s two of them?' Art’s panic grew, now visible on his face. 'I didn’t even notice either of them…'"Yes. Someone’s here," the woman responded, narrowing her eyes at him. "Though I’m still debating whether he’s here on purpose… or if he’s just lost. Because coming here at that level of strength would be incredibly stupid."Art didn’t even have the luxury of feeling insulted. His mind was working at full speed, trying to figure out how to leave here alive. The second figure—the male—arrived at the scene, his gaze settling on Art.His eyes had an eerie, faint blue glow, and like the woman, he bore those same strange inscriptions. Art stared at the little chest for several seconds. 'Is it safe to touch that?'After contemplating for what felt like a minute, he decided against opening it now, opting to store it away for later. With a flick of his wrist, the chest vanished into his storage device.Once he finished collecting everything, he placed them inside the larger spatial device he had bought. Now, it was time to check the ruins. There was a chance they held clues—fragments of history that could tell him more about the battle that took place here.Anything that could provide insight into the Grand War.He exited the central building moments later, stepping into the ruins once more.Unlike before, there was no lingering sensation of being watched.Only silence. An eerie stillness hung in the air as Art cautiously made his way through the crumbling remains of what had once been a grand city. The walls, faded with time, bore cracks and scars from the past. Vines crept over the structures, slowly reclaiming the

  • Back to the city

Art carefully navigated the forest, mindful not to lose his way.He had planned ahead before now, placing the teleportation circle in a spot that would make this journey easier. After a few minutes, he arrived at the area where he had once fought seventeen D-rank beasts. Much of the mess had been covered by vegetation and nature, but the site was still recognizable.A good sign—he was on the right track. Before long, he reached the stream where he and Asura had fought. It was just as beautiful as before, though he had no time to admire it.‘I believe it was there.’ His gaze settled on the tree where she had told him to meet her. Without hesitation, he headed in that direction. Then, he noticed something."Hmm?"Looking up, he spotted several beasts perched in the trees, staring down at him. They were D-rank beasts, clearly hungry, but none of them dared to move closer—let alone attack.Their instincts and intelligence warned them otherwise.Art ignored them and continued walking.Afte
