Art checked himself one last time in the mirror.

His appearance was unusual, and that was because he was dressed in formal clothing.

The reason for this was the grand occasion taking place in the palace.

Yes, he was still here.

The attack on the palace had happened the day before yesterday, and the palace was already nearly recovered.

But the lives lost could never be recovered.

After the attack, he had been held captive as a potential suspect. He spent most of yesterday morning being questioned, and in the end, he was deemed a friend of the kingdom— even a hero for protecting Elora and Erwin.

It was a little more complicated than that, but who was he to deny such an honor?

Later today, all those who fought for the kingdom were going to be rewarded, so he had to get ready.

At this moment, a large conference was being held somewhere in the palace.

All the great families had to attend, along with some of the Swords and the Supreme Guard.

Which meant a lot of very powerful people were

  • The Successor System    Painful Death

A young man, about 23 years old, stood amidst a grisly scene—several bodies lay lifeless around him, their blood pooling on the cold, desolate ground. The crimson stains on his own clothes and skin told a story of violence, desperation, and betrayal. It was deep into the night, and the eerie silence of this desolate area cloaked the horror from prying eyes. He staggered slightly, struggling to remain conscious, his breaths shallow and uneven. His eyes, heavy with exhaustion and disbelief, locked onto the woman he had once loved, the woman he had hoped to marry. But she had betrayed him. Drugged, bound, and handed over to the people who sought his life the most, he had been nothing more than a pawn in her game. His family’s wealth and influence were known far and wide, striking fear into anyone who dared oppose them. Yet, behind the scenes, an internal war raged between his father and his uncle. Though uninterested in the power struggles, he had always been vigilant, aware that his

His eyes flickered for a moment before finally opening. His vision was blurry at first, but it took only a few seconds to adjust. ‘Where am I?’ he thought, glancing around the luxurious room where he lay. The bed he rested on was so comfortable that he almost considered falling back asleep. However, the memory of his death, the strange voice, and the golden screen jolted him awake. Sitting upright, he took a closer look at his surroundings. The room was styled like something out of 18th-century royalty, but the materials used in its construction seemed otherworldly, far beyond what his old world could achieve. The windows were wide open, letting in a crisp breeze, and the sound of metal clanging echoed faintly from outside. The air was pure, unlike anything he had ever breathed before. Before he could dwell too much on these observations, the golden screen from before materialized in front of him. He flinched slightly but then read the words displayed. [Congratulations! Hos

He clearly remembered the words written on the screen back then: [Searching for suitable host] By no means was this body suitable; no, it was more like suicide. “System! What is the meaning of this? Why didn’t you tell me this is a magical world?” All his plans had just been blown away. There was no way that money was the most important thing here. ‘You were the one who assumed that, silly.’ He heard a voice, causing him to look around the room, alarmed. He recognized the voice—it was the same soothing voice that had spoken to him when the system first appeared, undoubtedly belonging to a female. “Who’s there? Who are you?” He couldn’t see anyone. If he told anyone about this in his former world, they’d just shake their heads and direct him to a psychiatric hospital. ‘Unfortunately for you, you can’t see me because I’m speaking directly into your mind. In a way, I’m within it.’ “Huh? Within my mind? How?” He wasn’t comfortable with this, and it would be worse if she could read

After the system flooded him with all that information he didn't want to experience again, he ended up falling to the ground and hadn't gotten up since then, so he couldn't see the person who just came into his room because of the big bed which obstructed his vision. But the person walked around as both of their gazes fell on each other. He could recognize the girl in front of him even though this was actually his first time meeting her. She was about his age or a little older with short bright blue hair and azure eyes, which were filled with worry. She was very beautiful, several times more than his ex-fiancé in all aspects. According to the information and memory he had received, unlike his former world, people here possessed varieties of eye and hair colour which he appreciated. Even he had golden eyes. The girl in front of him was dressed in a special maid outfit which was just a little bit above her knee with knee-length socks, and according to what he remembers, she wa

"I see you've done quite a lot already."The voice of the man who had just arrived cut through the dust and debris, his bright yellow eyes glowing faintly. As the dust settled, a burly man came into view, two large swords strapped to his back. His expression wasn’t one of anger at the destruction surrounding him but rather one of excitement. He had arrived at the palace moments earlier, but as much as he wanted to engage these infamous mages in battle, his first priority had been ensuring the king’s safety. Now that he had confirmed all was well, he had finally made his way here.To his fortune, the intruders were still present. But he hadn’t expected to find two of them. They were members of a group called the Kyusei—a faction that the kingdom had started taking note of two years ago. The organization was believed to have been formed around that time, and its members were no ordinary warriors or mages. Each was on par with the Swords and Pillars, the kingdom’s strongest fighters. Art could barely catch his breath after the punch. “Didn’t she say she wouldn’t kill me?” The skin of his true body art disappeared along with his true weapon. 'Two—no, one more blow like this could actually end his life. ' He wanted to speak up, but he couldn’t. ‘So I couldn’t help them in the end. Well, I did my best.’ No one could blame him for whatever happened next. But the fact that his heroic deed wasn’t being witnessed wasn’t a good thing. Just then, he heard a voice in the large hallway. “To think things have gotten to this level,” a man said, walking through the bloodied unconscious guards before stopping in front of the S-rank guard. “She got you as well.” “I’m sorry. I was incompetent. But be careful. Her abilities…” The head guard could barely finish before losing the last bit of his consciousness. “It’s a good thing His Majesty sent me here. This is the end of the line for you,” Krai declared. After being sent out by the king, he headed as quickly as he

  • Survival Games

Three minutes...That's all it took her to defeat them all. And it lasted this long only because of the S-rank guard.Except for him, Art wasn’t sure if any of the rest were alive. At this point, he was sure that he had made the wrong decision. He could die here.‘Dammit,’ the head guard was barely hanging on to his consciousness. He had many injuries, including a missing arm. The defeat was certain when he lost his right arm in the first attack. He believed that her ability activated after a threshold was passed. What he didn’t expect was that if you go below that threshold, her abilities also activate. So his attack was lower than the threshold, causing the center to take effect. Her abilities were just too broken. That was the major reason why the strength difference among those of the same rank existed. And he was on the weaker end of S-ranks.He had no chance from the beginning. After that, the rest can pretty much be guessed."I'm sorry," he muttered to Art. He had failed his w

  • Protect the Royal Siblings

Two figures dashed hastily through the hallway."We're getting close. Be careful," Elora said, her voice tinged with urgency.Art nodded, already aware of the situation. He could feel the intense mana emanating from up ahead—proof that the fight had begun.‘Did we really have to come? I can tell the guards fighting the intruders are strong. They should be able to handle it,’ Art thought as they neared their destination. ‘Well, no harm in spectating a bit of action.’Moments later, they arrived, slightly out of breath from the constant running. But the scene before them was not what they expected.Blood pooled across the floor, bodies scattered like discarded dolls. At the center of the carnage stood a lone woman. Not far from her was a man, his face twisted in disbelief.‘Why does he have such a silly expression?’ Art wondered before realization struck. ‘Oh, she’s the princess. Now that I think of it, this was a dumb move. I should’ve stopped her from coming. That guy is definitely cu

  • Despite the Sacrifice

The head guard stood alone now as the other guards left stayed out of what was to come. His body tense as he gazed at the cloaked figure standing amidst the crumpled bodies of his comrades. His chest tightened as he recalled the brutal efficiency with which she had dispatched the others. Blood pooled across the polished floor, but the guard forced himself to focus. They hadn’t fought in vain. Their sacrifice had revealed something important: her ability wasn’t invincible.‘Attacks over a certain strength activate her counter,’ he thought, his grip on his sword tightening. ‘But if I can keep my strikes just below that threshold… she’ll have to dodge. And I can land a hit. I hope this is right.' The woman tilted her head, her bored expression unchanging despite the carnage around her. "What the hell are you thinking?” she asked flatly, her voice laced with exhaustion. She wasn't expecting her ability to be figured out so soon with these little casualties. The regeneration guy was truly

The three guards attacked with fierce determination, each moving in sync to maximize their chances. The A-rank with regeneration abilities charged head-on, his dual aura-coated katanas flashing under the dim light. His strikes were relentless, each swing aimed at vital areas. Yet, as expected, his blades passed straight through her, finding no purchase. The other two guards flanked her, the fire mage launching streams of searing flames while the teleportation user darted in and out, attempting surprise strikes. Their combined efforts should have overwhelmed any opponent, yet she remained untouched. Her form flickered almost lazily, her exhaustion apparent in the way she moved, yet none of their attacks landed.“Damn it!” The fire mage hissed, unleashing a massive fireball. It exploded on impact, filling the hallway with smoke and heat. But as the dust settled, she stood there, completely unharmed, her black and white cloak barely ruffled.“Are you done?” she muttered, sounding more bo
