Art walked through the long hallway with Racheal behind him.
Bathing and dressing proved more difficult than he expected. He was quite surprised and relieved to see that the clothes in this world were very similar to his former.Racheal kept staring at him with worry. Moving around like this on his own was surely difficult. She insisted on helping him as usual but he refused, saying that it was just walking. She has been with him long enough to know that even walking was tiring for him. There was a time when a wheelchair was suggested but he discarded the idea saying that he wasn’t disabled. Such a stubborn boy! They arrived in a large living room which was more like a hall and he had to walk across to get to the dining room. She had a bothered expression which Art believed came from something else.Gaining the memories of the former body owner didn’t mean that he knew everything that happened in his life. The memories were filtered and similar to someone who has amnesia and is brought to places and shown objects and people to help them remember. Just like that, something needs to trigger a particular memory before he remembers. For example, he knows that he had a father and also knows his face and voice but he barely remembers anything about him.Only after meeting him would he recall some memories and for deeper memories, it would have to be spoken about first. So it was only after the door was opened, with his gaze falling on everyone present in the room did he realize why she was bothered, as some not-so-good memories surfaced.‘Damn, they really don’t go easy on him,” he sighed internally before walking in.Some people didn’t even shift their gazes towards him, and most of those that did immediately focused back on their meal while those that kept staring at him didn’t have friendly expressions. There were nine people about his age seated around a large table. All of them had silver hair which was a common trait of the Silvers. Only few like him whose hair colour was gotten from their other parent who wasn’t a Silver. The fact that they were under one family didn’t mean they were all related, which is where the term branch family comes in.The Silvers have three major branch families which other smaller branches were under. The names of these branch families are Ron, Von, and Li.The first Silvers which were a group of 6 weren’t related. They included 3 males and 3 females, hence, the three branch families. It was people from the same branch families who were related. Art belonged to the Von branch, making his full name Art Von Silver. So people from different branch families could get married. The residence of the Silvers was very massive and was totally different from where they currently were. This place was just for training the young Silvers before they were allowed into a magic academy. This explained why there were only teenagers in the dining room. All of them were Vons as they were separated according to branch families.“I see you’re alive. I was getting a little sad about the thought of you finally dying,” a lean boy with perfectly gelled-back silver hair said sarcastically. If he remembers correctly, this one’s name is……………….He couldn’t even remember. The past body owner must have not given a shit about his actual name but they all called him JV.“Tsk, Tsk, Tsk. You’re looking good as always,” a short chubby boy said mockingly with a chuckle.Even without the memories he received, the subconscious actions of his body would’ve made him notice just how much the former body owner hated this fat runt. His name was Chucky reminding him of a certain movie, and come to think of it they even had some similarities. But this was inferior to the hatred his body and memories felt towards a particular boy who kept staring at him with a smug on his face. The hatred the former body owner felt towards him, only lost out to what he felt towards his ex-fiancé and uncle and Art didn't know that he was currently glaring at him.The boy on the other hand nodded in satisfaction seeing this.He always loved it when Art looked at him in such a way but today's glare seemed different.Normally, Art would look at him with pure hatred and anger which was all, but now within that hate and anger lay something else.Killing intent. He got a little scared at first before reminding himself that it was just Art. What could he possibly do?“Looks like he’s picking a fight,” Chucky said in amusement.“Come on Arty; I don't want to be the one who accidentally kills you,” Frigga, the boy who he glared at chuckled before noticing something which caused him to raise an eyebrow in ridicule.“What's with that tracksuit? Don't tell me……….~Puff~ Don’t tell me you want to exercise!”Not just the three of them, several more busted into laughter with some chuckling slightly.According to his memories, only three people didn't partake in any form of mockery against him.Two were girls, both seated here while the third was a boy. The same boy who he had seen sparring with a man through his window. One of the two girls who had long silver hair with blue eyes was very composed and beautiful, even more than Racheal who watched this all in annoyance and anger, not just at them but also at her inability to defend him.She focused on her food not even sparing anyone a glance. The other girl had shoulder-length silver hair and brown eyes. She was the shy type feeling mostly sadness and pity for him.Art’s expression returned to normal as he took an empty chair and began eating as well. He needed to eat and drink a lot of water to complete the feeding section of his daily quests. The amount required was about three times more than that of an average person in his former world and he hoped he won't end up becoming a glutton.Art wasn't someone who eats a lot, so they were surprised at how much he was eating.‘Hmm, not bad. The food here is way better. Hmm! What type of flesh is this? It melts so smoothly in my mouth with the perfect level of chewiness. I can't have enough!’ he didn't realize that he was eating quite fast.“It looks like you've decided to take all your sorrows out on food. Why don't you have mine,” Frigga stretched his plate of food out towards him and after 10 seconds a frown appeared on his face as he looked like a fool with his arm still stretched out.Deciding on his next action, he arched his arm backwards before hurling the plate of food towards Art's face. Art saw it coming, but his body couldn't react in time, so it slammed right into his face as Frigga and his two buddies began laughing. Few also chuckled, while some didn't find it funny but remained quiet.“Art!” Racheal cried, about to run towards him but he raised his hand causing her to stop.Including her, everyone was surprised as the Art they knew wouldn’t behave in such a way.He would've thrown insults, be moved to tears, or just accept it with a bitter smile, depending on his mood, pleasing his haters on whichever he chooses. But instead, he had a neutral expression as though nothing had happened. He ended up being the one who broke the silence.“Racheal.”“Yes.”"Bring more of this to my room later.” He stood up from the chair with food splattered all over his face before walking away.“I….I will.” She was surprised by his attitude much more, his demand. He had his back facing them which was why they couldn't see the big grin on his face. The reason for this was because he had finally found some people who he could take out all his vented-up anger from both his last life and the former body owner, and his system couldn't agree less.[New short-term quest received: Let off some steam!]Related Chapters

He woke up the next morning, once again on his comfortable bed.“I don't think I'll be getting used to this anytime soon,” he muttered with a smile.‘I on the other hand think that I'll be getting used to your weakness very soon.’His mouth twitched as this was not the first thing he wanted to hear on a beautiful morning.“Come to think of it, you barely said anything yesterday.”‘Come on now. Don't tell me you're getting attached to my voice?’“O…of course not,” he stammered with his face turning a little red. Although he wasn't used to the sensation of someone in his mind, her voice was the best thing he has ever heard which was why he never truly complains. But how could he tell her that?“It was just so peaceful yesterday. I hope that happens often.”'Is that so? Then your prayers are answered .’“Huh?”‘The telekinetic bond between us requires a lot of mana to be maintained and since you're too weak I'm the one providing all that mana. The Successor System The Journey begins
The ride wasn't a long one and they were now in a forest which was of course within the range they were allowed to go. Just as he anticipated, Racheal had brought him to this part of the forest which was mostly filled with a certain F-rank agility base beast.Beasts were separated into two classes. Normal and Magical.Magical unlike normal beasts could use mana and magic attributes, they also possessed mana cores just like humans. Mana cores were very important as almost everything runs with mana and they served like a battery. Both classes of beasts followed the same ranking. F-RankE-RankD-RankC-RankB-RankA-Rank S-RankS+ RankSS RankSS+ Rank Lesser beasts were from F to A-rank with A-rank and below being greater beasts. The cores produced by magical beasts also followed the same ranking. So this place was filled with the lowest rank of beasts but it was still too risky for someone like him. They both came out of the vehicle before glancing around. It seemed like they wer
The Successor System Life threatening battle
His eyes were filled with wariness as he approached the wolf beast. He monitored every inch of its body to predict its movements which would cover up for his lack of speed. If he didn’t have all this training from his former world, his chances of victory would be nearly impossible but he did, which increased his probability of coming out victorious to 40 percent and this depended on his first attack, so he didn't plan on messing it up.This scenario reminded him of a time in his previous life when he had to defend himself from a crazy dog using a piece of broken glass and he emerged victorious with some injuries, most of which were caused by the weapon he used. Even though the weapon he wielded now was much better than any he had ever come across, this situation was worse than then.Racheal watched in worry as they both inched closer to each other with her heart racing and when they reached 10 meters apart, they both lunged forward. Art expected it to leap to his upper region w

The Successor System Facing death the second time
Art hasn’t been sitting down and leaving everything to her all this time. He had tried to distribute the stats he just received but much to his disappointment, the system didn’t permit him as his body was too weak to handle the kind of boost he was about to give it This was the last card he had but watching Racheal as she used magic reminded him of what happened when he, or better put, the former body owner saved the girl.Simply put, he could use magic.Although doing this was very risky, not doing anything was even riskier. He mustered as much strength as he could to stand up, before walking towards Rachael in the straight line from her to him which was water balls free. He wondered how she was killing the red-eyed rabbits behind him which was when he noticed that the water balls curved after passing him. Somewhere in a forest where the rhythmic chirping of birds along with the rustling of the leaves of trees caused by the pure fresh breeze which together could put just anyone in a trance, a figure was seated cross-legged while staring into the skies. He had straight short black hair and golden eyes devoid of any emotions, seemingly entranced. He had a body that seemed to be slightly malnourished, not good but not that bad either.Overall he was quite handsome and was still yet to reach his true potential.Instead of being seated in the grads of the forest, he was on the body of several stacked black wolves. This 16-year-old was naturally Art.It has been 2 weeks since his near-second embrace with death and he had gotten better in almost every aspect during this time. This was obvious just by looking at his body which was no longer skinny and totally pale.He brought his gaze down to the carcass of the beasts wondering how one of them almost claimed his life some days ago. The journey to the mansion took him about 40 minutes, so he had 20 minutes left before the announcement and he needed a shower. There wasn’t anyone outside as this was still early in the afternoon with most of them being either in their room or the underground training arena.Oh! Forgot to mention that. There was a large training arena below the mansion where real training and sparring happened. The field on the outside was mostly for exercising and light training if the person wanted to do it outside. Art was yet to go there since he arrived in this world and he planned to do that soon. He walked into the mansion with a lot on his mind. He knew that he couldn’t depend on mana for now so he had to exercise the abilities of the Silvers to the fullest. He was thankful that he wasn’t born into a family that derived all their strength from the use of magic, or else he would’ve been doomed for having his mana core locked. So, he had to keep increasing his stats while honing his fighti

“Art?” Elora’s voice broke the tranquility of the courtyard, her green eyes widening as she took in his appearance. Her heart-shaped lips parted in surprise, and for a moment, she seemed lost for words. She hadn’t expected him to show up, much less looking so… different. Art inclined his head slightly in a gesture of courtesy. The movement was restrained and formal, but it unsettled Elora. She didn't want him acting this way. “You’re here,” Art said, shifting his gaze to the person he was most familiar with. “Yes,” Asura replied, her bright purple eyes locking onto his. Her keen gaze swept over him, noting the changes not just in his stature but his overall demeanor. This was the first time they’d seen each other since the raid, and Asura could sense that Art had grown. Finally, Art’s attention shifted to the third figure present, the most imposing of the group. A woman in her late twenties stood with her arms lightly crossed. Her long, straight white hair flowed elegantly in the

Art walked through an open pathway, hands in his pockets. He was looking better after finally getting some sleep.Neither Viron nor Sil was in the room. He hadn’t seen them for over two weeks, only occasionally sensing their presence when they returned. The same went for Daste, his third roommate. For some reason, he hadn’t heard anything from his guide during this time. This wasn’t like other instances—it felt different. He couldn’t sense her at all. He believed it had something to do with the body she had told him to hold back in the room back then.Several people were walking and talking around him. From the crowd, he suddenly heard his name.“Art!!!”He turned toward the voice to see Caitlyn running toward him. That’s right, he hadn’t seen her during all this time either. Hmph!A soft grunt escaped as a boy slumped back into the chair he was seated on.His usual spiky black hair now drooped, and his golden eyes—once vibrant—were dimmed by exhaustion, with dark bags beneath them. His complexion was pale, a clear sign of poor health.Anyone who had known him before would immediately notice the stark changes in his appearance. Yet, despite his unhealthy look, there was no mistaking that he had grown stronger. His muscle mass had significantly increased, and the calluses and bruises on his hands told a story of relentless physical training. But perhaps the most striking difference was the aura of magic surrounding him. Even when suppressed, it was intimidating. His roommates, had they been less powerful themselves, might have felt uneasy simply being near him. This was also a result of intense mana cultivating to improve his magic core. All this was the result of one month of grueling training since his return from the Ancient City. Today marked exactly

Within a certain place, A vast, hollowed-out cavern was concealed behind a cascading waterfall deep within the mountains. The roar of the water outside echoed faintly through the chamber, mixing with the low hum of tension that filled the space. The air was damp, and the stone walls were rough and unrefined, scarred with cracks that seemed to form a web around the room. Seven figures stood at different points in the chamber, each occupying their own corner of the expansive space. The dim, flickering light from a series of braziers scattered throughout the room cast long shadows, distorting their forms on the uneven walls. One stood near the entrance, leaning casually against the stone, his arms crossed and his face hidden by the shadow of his hood. Another lingered by a jagged outcrop at the far side, their fingers idly tracing a scar etched into the rock, as if lost in thought. A third crouched low on a raised ledge, their sharp eyes scanning the others like a predator assessing p

“Are you feeling better now?” Sonra asked Rhea, her voice soft with concern. Rhea, like the others, had several bandages wrapped around her body. The rest of their party was in a similar state, their injuries a testament to the ordeal they had just survived. Though they had been congratulated by their superiors for their bravery and promised additional points, the weight of what they had faced left no room for celebration. The atmosphere among them was heavy. Each member was lost in thought, reflecting on the experience of barely escaping death. For most of them, this was their first brush with mortality, and it had left an indelible mark. Rhea’s gaze was distant, her thoughts trapped in a memory she wished she could forget. She kept recalling the tragedy of her childhood, where no help had come in time. If only things had been different, maybe those other children wouldn’t have died. The pain of that day was etched into her expression, her eyes glistening with unshed tears. Ramond

Saved?
The eerie sensation of being watched thickened the air around them. Art and Asura exchanged wary glances, their breaths quickening as the oppressive feeling pressed down on them. It wasn’t long before their worst fears were confirmed. From the shadows, five ash-like humanoid figures emerged, their forms identical to the entity they had barely managed to defeat moments ago.The duo sat frozen on the ground, unable to rise, not because of exhaustion alone but because the sheer magnitude of the threat was paralyzing. The figures moved with unnerving synchronicity, their glowing blue runes pulsing rhythmically like malevolent heartbeats.Four of the creatures stopped at an equidistant perimeter, forming an ominous circle around their prey. But the fifth, larger and more menacing, stepped forward, breaking the symmetry. Its towering frame cast a long shadow over the duo, and its glowing blue eyes locked onto them with an intensity that felt almost sentient.Art and Asura didn’t move. They

“Do you have anything in mind?” She asked, preparing herself. “Yes,” a grin appeared on Art’s face. “I’ve been preparing something during our fight. It’s a good thing we didn’t end up dead before I could use it. I believe that it has weaknesses at some points of its body, which happen to be its magic energy source. It seems that it was made by a mage from long ago, but I’m surprised that it’s still functional and this strong.”"I think delivering powerful hits to these points could destroy it. But I doubt that we'll be able to do that without at least one of us getting killed."He was able to learn all this after he researched rune magic. When they arrived here, he tried creating a teleportation circle that would link to the one he left back in the forest, but it failed. Something seemed to be obstructing it. This showed that he still had much to learn. But if things go well, they might just succeed in defeating it.“Here’s what we’ll do…”***The Ash humanoid, which had been looking

Fragments of the Frosty Past
The crumbling walls of the abandoned city wrapped around them like a grave, the air heavy with silence. Art and Asura sat across from each other in the hollow of a shattered building, their exhaustion palpable. The faint glow from the top filtered through cracks in the ceiling, casting soft light over their battered forms. It seemed that night was upon them since it was slowly getting darker.Art leaned back against the cold stone wall, his breathing finally steadying. He glanced at Asura, who sat with her knees drawn up, frost still clinging faintly to her fingertips. The way the light touched her pale skin and the shadows danced in her lilac-white hair made her look ethereal, even now. Even though she was pretty messy. “You weren’t bad out there. We’re just outmatched,” Art said, breaking the quiet.Asura blinked, caught off guard. Her gaze shifted to him, studying his face. “Outmatched huh?” she repeated, tilting her head slightly. He nodded. “Most people would’ve folded under tha

“Guys!!!” Sonra and Caitlyn, among the six who arrived with Professor Verone, sprinted toward their party members. Relief washed over their faces, though it was mixed with worry. When Verone informed them of the danger their friends faced, they feared the worst. Miraculously, despite the odds, everyone was alive. Tears glistened in Caitlyn's eyes as she embraced Rhea. “You’re okay! I thought…” “I know,” Rhea said softly, exhaustion evident in her voice. “We’re still here.” The reunion was bittersweet, shadowed by the looming threat. While the students exchanged hurried words of relief, the adults gathered nearby, their attention already on the remnants of the battle. Professor Verone addressed the bald man in their group. “Did you discover anything?” “Where’s Japh?” the bald man demanded brusquely. “He’s unavailable,” Verone replied calmly. “I’m in charge. Report to me.” The bald man gave her a brief nod, then explained the details of the creature they had encountered. As he sp
