“Viron!”

~Flicker~

“Please!”

~Flicker~

“R-RUN!!”

The eyelids of a very handsome blue-haired boy opened, his eyes were also blue and filled with terror which changed into sadness.

He let out a sigh as he tried putting his emotions in order before sitting up.

Looking around, he noticed that he was in an unfamiliar, mostly white room, and it was quite damaged.

The nature of the damage was probably due to lightning magic, so he was sure that he used his attribute while being unconscious, resulting in this.

Paying more attention to himself, the little injuries that he sustained were now mostly gone and he was dressed in different clothes.

The shirt he wore was sleeveless, with black shorts.

His uniform was damaged in the fight but that wasn’t a problem as he had several more.

He raised his hand to his eyes before clenching his fist.

“I guess I still haven’t recovered from that. I shouldn’t have agreed to fight a flame user after all. I just hope that I didn’t hurt him much.”

He wasn’t expecting to hear something like this.“Sooo…?” She asked in anticipation. For someone who fights that way, she was incredibly cute. “Well, I can’t really do that now, since I’m not in a good condition. My last spar didn’t end so well,” he said, a bit dejected. She walked closer to him, placing a hand on his shoulder which caused his heart to beat faster.“Then get well soon. The healthier, the better,” she said energetically with a smile, and he didn’t know if she was actually concerned about his health or something else. But he didn’t mind.“I’ll see you later then,” she said, walking away."Yeah! Sure.” After waving, she exited the room.He also left shortly after. His mood had gotten brighter because of this encounter and was looking forward to when they would meet next. From her hair colour, the chances of her being a Silver were high, so he decided to ask Sil…, no, Art about it when he gets to their room. And it didn’t take long for him to arrive. As he walked in, h

The next day in class they were all seated with Professor Stein standing in front of them. He was finally going to talk about the topic which he kept them in suspense about, right from the first day. This time Art was seated with Sil and Viron, this was part of fulfilling his own end of the bargain. He swore to use the other question to the fullest. As expected they were both bad influences. Sil was already asleep. Art wondered if he was going to progress at this rate. There hasn’t been a time since he stayed up from the beginning to the end of a class. He looked so peaceful sleeping. Why did he even attend the academy in the first place? As for Viron, he seemed a little distracted, thinking who knows what. To make matters worst, he was seated right in their midst.“Now I would be giving a brief history of how Ras became part of the kingdom.” He cleared his throat before continuing.“Before the grand war which happened over 4000 years ago. There was no kingdom like Hurin.”‘The Gr

"You sure took your time,” Lidia voiced out with folded hands before raising her eyebrows at the unfamiliar figure. Ryan was also just arriving from a different direction. He began waving his hand with a smile but all this faded away seeing Viron.Something didn’t just sit well with him.First, it was Art, then the sleepy head, and now this guy!It wasn’t good being the ugliest boy in the group. What would that do to his reputation (« has none)“And you are?” He asked in a deep, not-so-friendly tone.“My name is Viron, nice to meet you.”All of them here looked special and he could also perceive that they were strong, especially the blue-eyed and silver-haired girl who was sitting quietly. But he didn’t see Beatrix.‘Wait! Hmm, he must be from the Thunder family,' Ryan said internally with his hand on his jaw.“It’s our third meeting right, let’s get this over and done with quickly.” Sil nodded in agreement at Lidia’s words. They all proceeded to sit. “So Art, why did you bring him

“You’ve been here before?”“Uh-huh.” “Well, I haven’t.”“Uh-huh.”"You know where we're going right?”“Uh-huh.” They were currently in the artifact market. A lot of people were here and probably also in the clothing stores because of the festival tomorrow. All other classes today were suspended so they could use the time to make preparations. Entertainers and decorators were invited to the school, he had even seen a play on his way here. This was the first event he was witnessing and their method of decorating was different or maybe it was just the things they use.The leaves and stems of some plants could glow, sometimes even changing to different colours so there was no need for things like Christmas lights and other plant decorators in his former world. The decorations had just begun so there was not much to comment about. • The Successor System    New Mask

“What do you think?” Art stared blankly at what she had at hand. He didn’t prioritize fashion didn’t mean he wasn’t interested in it at all. What she held in her hand was a black mask. It was shiny and nicely polished but still, just plain black didn’t sit well. 'Is she trying to make fun of me?' This was the only reasonable explanation as to why she would be giving him this. “Here,” she stretched it further out as he reluctantly took it.Now that he was holding on, he sensed the slight mana the mask was giving out so it wasn’t normal, probably coming with a little stat boost. He decided to check it out with his inspect skill and what he saw caused him to almost drop it.[Name: Aura vision mask][Rank: D][Handling: 520/450][Magic description: Magic— Aura Vision, can normally be used in two ways. Art was standing in front of the full-length mirror which has remained covered all this time in his room. He remembered Viron’s last words yesterday leading to a released sigh.It was just slight yesterday, which was why the others didn’t notice it, but it was now much more obvious that he has been barely getting any sleep. He looked a little pale with bags beginning to form under his eyes which shone with exhaustion. But all his efforts were paying off so it wasn’t in vain.At least he could hide all these for today using the mask.It appeared on his hand from his inventory and as he wore it, golden designs appeared around the plain black mask.He didn’t get the chance to do it yesterday, so he decided to check out the aura vision now.Activating it, his vision completely changed.Manaless objects were now only represented by thin, dull golden lines at their edges, so all the walls separating the rooms of this building became almost non-existent.“It’s better than I expected.”He w

“I’m still dizzy from that encounter. I better refrain from using that ability when not necessary. I’m too young to grow blind,” Art let out a sigh. He was walking outside where a lot of people were present, idly chatting away. Most of them had their masks off.Rather than uniforms, they were dressed in clothes of different styles, most being flashy and some even traditional. Art went for something more casual. The fact that they had their masks off was something that could’ve led to death a millennia ago, as it was considered an offense to do so during the festival back then.Art never planned on removing his, but at least it was a relief that he didn’t reincarnate back then with all those silly rules.A lot of activities were happening around the school premises and honestly, he would’ve stayed behind just like most of the people he saw with the mask back in the dorm, as participation in the ceremony wasn’t compulsory. But he came out for just one reason and he was now standing in f

He had already registered a few days ago.Initially, he had planned to leave the day after he arrived, but Yuh’s parents insisted he stay at least until the test began. After all, he was still young and pretty much homeless. Yuh wasn’t sure if her parents would have let him stay had they known what he was capable of.Still, they offered him a roof over his head and plenty of food. With no other alternatives, he accepted. They were good people, and he wasn’t about to reject their kindness. But he wasn’t a freeloader either. The next day, he found a merchant willing to buy some of his items. The merchant couldn’t determine the exact value of the feathers Art had collected, so he offered a low price. • A way in

Art walked through the streets behind the girl, his arms folded across his chest. He tried to stay composed despite his inner turmoil. --- Moments ago "What did you say?" "I want to thank you properly, and you seem hungry. I can't be sure of anything except that we make lovely dishes at my home," the girl said. Art took a few seconds to reply. He might have been hungry, but he still had his pride. "Ehk-hem! I actually have somewhere to eat. But if you insist, I'll take you up on your offer," he said with a straight face. His reply seemed to please her as she smiled. "My name is Yuh. Please follow me." --- And that was how he ended up like this. He hadn’t paid much attention to her earlier, but now he gauged her physical appearance. She looked slightly older than him, with several injuries and bruises—probably from when she confronted those men. They walked for several minutes, passing many people and buildings along the way. This was the first time he was freely walki

  • An Angry Man is still a Hungry Man

Art never thought of himself as some kind of hero who saved every person he didn't know in distress without expecting anything in return. In fact, he considered that kind of mindset foolish—a pointless waste of time, energy, and effort. A simple thank you wasn't enough to justify the trouble. People might call him self-centered for thinking this way, but he didn’t care. That was just how he saw the world. But there were some things even he couldn't ignore. Some acts so vile they crossed a line, and this was one of them. For someone with a 25-year-old mentality—perhaps even older, considering the memories of the life he had replaced—certain things struck a nerve. Especially when he had two younger sisters, though from different worlds. Hearing what these men had done… It triggered something in him. His golden eyes glowed as mana gathered around him, the air shifting with his rising energy. Both men instinctively took a few steps back. 'Wait… he's a mage too? But he looked so

  • Alone in the city

Fiona paced so restlessly in the main hall, arms crossed quite tightly over her chest. As soon as the weighty doors swung, her dad walked in, and she turned quickly toward him."Father! You're back!" Lord Varian, a graying, tall man who had a well-maintained beard, took off his coat, handing it to an attendant. He slightly arched an eyebrow at his daughter's tense posture. "I exist. Though, from the look on your face, something tells me you're not here to welcome me peacefully."Fiona huffed. "You won’t possibly believe the thing that happened."Lord Varian chuckled softly, moving onward toward a plush chair near the fireplace. "I think that I shall, actually." He sat down, gesturing for her to continue.Fiona wasted no time. "That very boy we saved—he tried to steal right from us! I caught him right in my own room!"Lord Varian's brow furrowed quite slightly. However, he remained completely silent, allowing her to vent."And after I then confronted him, he tried to begin making excu

"What are you doing here?" Art stared blankly at the girl standing just inside the room's entrance. She looked about his age, with shoulder-length auburn hair and a round, fair face that grew redder with fury with each passing second. He quickly put two and two together—she was most likely the owner of the room.He immediately tried to clear the misunderstanding."It’s not what you think," he said, instinctively raising his hands."I hoped you would be a good and sincere person, but you're just like the rest. How could you try to steal from us? You even came into my room!" she exclaimed, her voice laced with irritation and disappointment."Wait! What? Steal? No, you have this all wrong!" Art defended himself."Guards! Frier!!" she screamed loudly."I just woke up! I was checking if there was anyone around. I was really just trying to thank you guys!" Art further tried to explain.Seconds after her loud call, four people arrived.Three were men, while the fourth was a woman. The woman

Viron groaned as he regained consciousness.'What happened?' he muttered, sitting up.His last memories of talking with Zenchi resurfaced.'Wait! I actually tried to attack him?' His eyes widened in disbelief. 'What got into me? I haven’t been that angry before. Was it the stress from all the training?'He looked down at his body and noticed some bandages.'He completely rendered me useless with one casual attack? No, he only released his aura with a little mix of lightning. That was barely an attack. What a monster. How does someone even defeat someone like that?'Viron could feel most of his strength returning, so he had no trouble moving. He walked over to the window and gazed outside. The sun was slowly being replaced by the moon, casting long shadows over the academy grounds. Despite the growing darkness, people were still outside—talking, laughing, loitering. Here, as in most academies, it wasn’t compulsory to learn magic solely for battle. Especially in this era, which had mos

"Ughhh! That boy just keeps making things difficult for me. Maybe I shouldn’t have taken him as a student in the first place. No! What am I even doing here in the first place? I should be on a mountain somewhere, drinking away while staring at the horizon. Now that’s life," Zenchi muttered as he walked. After the incident with Viron, he was summoned by the academy’s principal. The damage he caused was more than he expected. 'All this lack of fighting is making me lose gauge of my strength,' he grumbled. Before long, he arrived at a tall building where the principal’s office was located. The last time he was here was when he first arrived at the academy. He could sense the presence of people surrounding the building, even though they weren’t visible."Thirty-two, huh? That’s fewer than last time," he muttered as he stepped inside.Immediately, a tall woman in her thirties, dressed formally, approached him. "The principal is waiting for you," she said before leading the way.In less

  • Viron's Questions

"What did you say you did?!!""Calm down. It's just a simple spar. Why get worked up? It's not like we're trying to kill each other."Viron’s casual response made Zenchi facepalm."Have you ever seen any official public spar between family members of your age range before?"After a quick thought, Viron replied, "No.""Of course not. So you don’t understand how seriously the family takes things like this."Viron stared at Zenchi in confusion. Truthfully, he wasn’t aware of how duels in his family worked. Since childhood, he had always felt something was wrong—or rather, missing. There was an emptiness inside him, and with no direct family members to ask—since they were all dead—he was left in the dark. The only exception was his grandfather, the Patriarch of the family. But even he never paid attention to him.As a result, Viron spent most of his time in seclusion, alone. The other young Thunders then weren’t even allowed to be around him. That was why, when he got into the academy, he
