09. Return of Edward Nielson

The Aeridonia business circle is abuzz with the news of the acquisition of the city’s largest financial and investment company. The acquirer hails from the neighboring city of Brokeward, a equally sizable company deeply involved in finance and investment since its inception, 3D Motion.

The acquisition concluded swiftly and will officially commence its first investment. Despite not being the largest company in Helioport, 3D Motion is still referred to as the biggest in Brokeward. The fact that the company expanded its branches to Aeridonia and successfully underwent a relatively fast acquisition has garnered significant attention.

Certainly, many small to medium-sized enterprises aspire to secure a branch and establish collaborations. Vibe Entertainment is one such company seeking to secure its first investment from 3D Motion.

Thus, Lady Vesper declared to her grandchildren vying for top positions in the company, “Anyone who secures investment funds from 3D Motion will be appointed as the CEO.”

Naturally, everyone was thrilled to hear this, eager to become negotiators. Lady Vesper didn’t have high expectations, but she chose Bryan for the task.

Bryan was elated and started preparing negotiation materials. On the day he went to 3D Motion’s new office, he confidently brought along his assistant. Unexpectedly, he encountered someone familiar.

--

Edward had returned to Aeridonia a few days ago. Due to his busy schedule, he hadn’t appeared before many people. On the first day the company opened, he didn’t show up—not without reason, but because he was waiting to reel in a big fish. So, he had to be patient.

The first day of receiving guests arrived. As the CEO of 3D Motion’s Aeridonia branch, he had to come to work. During the morning, he reviewed the files sent by various individuals. As expected, there were files sent by Vibe Entertainment.

Edward said to Glory, “Contact this company and let them know that 3D Motion is quite interested in investing. Ask them to visit, but don’t convey absolute certainty on our part.” Glory nodded, responding with a firm ‘yes.’ She took notes on the company and displayed a surprised expression. Nevertheless, Jennifer still worked there, continually providing reports to Glory.

As an assistant who had been with Edward for the past three months, she knew a bit about Edward’s story. Moreover, she was friends with Jennifer. However, Glory still carried out what Edward instructed. Despite her curiosity, she could only hide it and silently witness the scenes of the former in-law’s face slapping.

The meeting was scheduled after lunch around 1 PM. The negotiation representative from Vibe Entertainment proposed to come to the 3D Motion office directly as a sign of sincerity. Of course, Edward did not refuse, and Glory promptly approved the proposal.

That afternoon, Edward went out for lunch. He intentionally returned 30 minutes past 1 to make Bryan wait. Upon entering the 3D Motion building, he encountered Bryan, who was approaching the receptionist again to inquire about when he could meet the CEO.

Bryan looked surprised upon seeing Edward, but soon, hatred appeared in his eyes, and his expression became disdainful, just like before. How could he not harbor great hatred when, due to Edward’s capabilities, Lady Vesper became very selective about who should continue the family business?

Feeling superior and having an edge, Bryan approached Edward arrogantly and said, “You seem fine. I thought after leaving the Vesper family, you’d end up as a vagabond.”

Edward’s footsteps halted. He glanced at the receptionist and security guard who seemed about to say something, signaling them to stay silent. Then, he turned to Bryan calmly. Despite his displeasure, he still displayed a polite smile and greeted, “Long time no see.”

Bryan snorted coldly, revealing his disgust. “Don’t put on that fake smile again, I’m nauseated.”

That was also one of the reasons for Bryan’s hatred – Edward was very adept at controlling his emotions.

“By the way, what are you doing here? Looking for a job?” Before Edward could respond, Bryan spoke again, “I suggest you don’t embarrass yourself. Understand that your low education and work experience are not entirely due to your abilities but because of Grandma’s favoritism.”

Hearing that, most people felt a strong thump in their hearts. However, the one being insulted by this guest was the one whose presence they had been eagerly awaiting.

Still, no one stepped forward to inform Bryan because Edward signaled them to remain silent.

Edward wasn't surprised at all, he just smiled as usual. "Thank you for your advice, but we won't know the outcome until we try."

"It's up to you. I'm just saying, oh, if you're going through the toughest day, never think of returning to the Vesper family business, we don't need you anymore."

Nodding casually, Edward calmly expressed gratitude again before leaving. Bryan could only watch with hatred and disgust as Edward's straight back slowly moved away before disappearing behind the elevator.

When he regained awareness, Bryan sent a message in the Vesper family group, stating that Edward had returned and appeared at the 3D Motion company to seek employment. Engrossed in his phone, Bryan completely ignored the strange looks from people and didn't sense their changed attitudes.

Calmly, he placed his phone back in his pocket and asked the receptionist, "Has your CEO returned?"

The receptionist barely smiled as she answered, "Yes, Mr. Nielson has returned. Allow me to inquire if he still wishes to meet with you."

"What do you mean if he still wants to meet with me? Wasn't this meeting decided from the start?" Bryan completely disregarded the receptionist's initial statement, only caring about the dismissive tone at the end.

The receptionist also paid no heed to his anger and reluctantly said, "Mr. Nielson will send someone to escort you to him. Please wait a moment."

Initially, Bryan wanted to scold the receptionist, but then he realized something.

"Mr. Nielson? Is that the CEO of 3D Motion?"

"Yes, that's him."

Bryan knew many people named Nielson, so he didn't think much and waited for someone to come and take him to meet Mr. Nielson. His expression shifted to politeness and grace to win the CEO's favor, but when he actually met the person, his expression changed in a matter of seconds.
