This Life Of Mine [II]

With heavy steps, Irving walked slowly, passing a big oak tree. After a long while, he reached another big tree and rest his back against it. Realizing something, he turned around and stared at the big tree he just leaned against.

This was the same tree he just walked past. This couldn't be right. Maybe he was hallucinating. Time to move on. He walked away for a while and found himself back at the same oak tree for some reason. This couldn't be happening.

Just when he was lost in his own mind, a hand like a dry branch rested on his shoulder, followed by a hoarse man's voice. "Little brother, are you lost?"

Irving's spine shivered coldly and he took a step forward like a frightened rabbit. He quickly turned around and stared at the old man who appeared behind him out of thin air. His first thought was that he had encountered a ghost.

Ever since he got used to being beaten, he was particularly sensitive to the disturbances around him. This person appeared behind him silently, like a ghost or something.

And the old man's appearance at this time was also very telling. A set of tattered one-piece clothes like the ancient American civilization. The skinny and fleshless body looked like it had been buried for hundreds of thousands of years. A nice old mummy.

The old man naturally didn't know what Irving was thinking, but he didn't need to know. Seeing that Irving didn't respond, he smiled and opened his mouth to ask again.

"Ghost!" Glancing at the face that seemed to be peeling off at any moment and the forced evil smile, Irving didn't even give him a chance to speak. He exclaimed, turned around and ran away.

"Ghost?" The old man looked around inexplicably, and then seemed to understand something, and said to himself. "Hmm, interesting."

After running for a while, Irving was sure that he had exhausted all the strength to sustain himself further, and then he fell to the ground, panting heavily, thinking to himself that it would be okay to be killed by a ghost, but he couldn't exhaust himself to death.

After a while, he was relieved to be alive, and stood up leisurel. But when he glanced at his surroundings, he shouted miserably. "Oh, come on!"

Irving had ran like crazy but again found himself in his original location, by the oak tree. However, at this time, the ghost-like old man had disappeared, replaced by a little girl in red jacket.

The little girl was only about five or six years old. She had two cute and lawless pigtails. Noticing Irving's glance, the little girl blinked her big eyes, smacked her left index finger and said in a milky voice. "Brother, are you lost?"

"Oh, no. Not you too." Irving frowned. He remembered the old man asking him the same question. That strange old man. So, he asked cautiously. "Little one, you didn't happen to see an old man here, did you?"

Facing the little girl in pink clothes, Irving seemed to gain courage. If the old man showed up, he would probably run with all his strength again after regaining his strength.

The little girl didn't seem to hear Irving's words. She appeared at his feet in the blink of an eye, hugged his thighs with her hands, and hummed. "Hug, I want a hug..."

Maybe it was due to the fact that he was no longer thinking straight, or maybe he realized that she didn't seem to have any intention of harming him. Irving smiled helplessly and bent down, picked up the little girl, and asked with a vigilant look on his face. "Who are you?"

"Human, of course..." The little girl answered simply.

But when she opened her mouth to speak, Irving caught the sight of vivid red color on her teeth. Vivid red like bloody remains. Irving trembled, thinking wildly in his mind, but his legs were frozen to the spot.

After a long silence, Irving, who was holding himself together by sheer force, seemed to have insufficient strength, and his legs shook harder than he could imagine.

"Friend, I have to leave now..." The little girl raised her hand and pinched his cheek.

"Oh, ok." Irving was a little confused. He bent down and put the little girl on the ground slowly. But before he could gather his thoughts, the little girl jumped up and disappeared into the woods. Irving smiled bitterly to himself. "What's happening to me?"

Just as Irving was transfixed on his fate, staring blanking ahead, the little girl was sitting on one of the branches of a giant tree, silently watching Irving who then turned around and left the place until his back completely disappeared from her sight.

"Why do you need so many shackles, when you have such a fate?" The little girl thought secretly, but she could no longer suppress her stomach. Blood welled up from deep in her throat, and sprayed from her mouth, sprinkling the tree branches, but quickly dissipated with the wind, as if they had never appeared before.
