Chapter 2

Christian couldn’t contain his jumbled thoughts, pondering this and that.

“Open the door? Don’t daydream too much! Get out of here now!” Yvette snapped.

As if doused by a bucket of cold water, Christian’s heated fantasies instantly extinguished. He sighed and said, “Alright, I’m leaving now. I’ve left your clothes by the door.”

After leaving the room, Christian continued to think about the strange email he had received.

After a moment’s consideration, he finally contacted the person his father had assigned to help him.

“Hello, this is Darrell speaking,” a man said from the other end of the phone.

Christian fell silent for a moment, surprised that the number indeed belonged to Darrell.

“So, you’re really Darrell?”

“Yes.”

Christian took a deep breath. Then he said, “I’m Christian Demetri. There’s something I need to ask. May I?”

“Finally, you’ve contacted me,” Darrell said with a sigh of relief in his breath.

“Go ahead, Mr. Demetri. What would you like to ask?” he continued.

“I just received an email with a video. In it, there’s an old man claiming to be my father. I think he sent it to the wrong email address. I don’t have a father. I’ve been in an orphanage since I was a baby,” Christian quickly said. “I think you should inform the old man as soon as possible that he sent the email to the wrong recipient.”

“Christian Demetri. Born 27 years ago. Has a birthmark on the middle of his back. Raised in the Harmony Haven Orphanage since infancy. Married to a woman named Yvette De Delta. Hobbies include reading and playing football. Favorite food is pasta,” Darrell said. “Is that you?”

Christian jumped. The man knew him in quite some detail.

“Y-yes.”

“In that case, the email was indeed meant for you,” Darrell said with a straightforward but gentle tone.

Before Christian could speak, Darrell continued, “Your father’s name is Carlos Demetri. He is one of the most successful entrepreneurs in the world, with BIG Consortium Corporation as his core business. Currently, Mr. Demetri is quite seriously ill. The video you watched is his condition from about 2 months ago.”

Christian listened without any intention of interrupting or ending this conversation.

“At the moment, BIG Consortium Corp urgently needs a CEO and a strong ownership. Otherwise, the company will collapse. Therefore, I suggest that Mr.  Demetri goes to Canada to take over BIG Consortium Corp,” Darrell said.

“I don’t want to go there!” Christian firmly rejected without hesitation.

“Why not? With that company, Mr. Demetri can buy the whole world and make his wife happy. Isn’t that your dream now?”

“He’s the one who said he didn’t want me. He’s the one who abandoned me. So, why should I accept it?”

Christian was truly infuriated as he remembered what his father had said. Then, he ended the call.

When Christian came out of the kitchen, he saw a Porsche parked inside the house gate.

Christian was furious. He knew that the car belonged to Declan.

“What does this guy want now? I won’t let him disturb Yve!”

Although his marriage to Yvette wasn’t based on love, the time that had passed and Yvette’s kindness had made Christian unwilling to let another man tempt his wife. Especially when that man was Declan, who had a habit of changing women and saw women only as objects of fantasy.

Declan was indeed skilled at seduction. That’s why he had many women, aside from the money he had, of course.

“Aunt is really amazing! Aunt says she’s 45 years old, but when I look at her, she looks like she’s 30, right? It must be because her skincare isn’t cheap, right, Aunt?”

Declan didn’t hesitate to woo Camila. He did this to please Yvette’s mother. In doing so, he could easily gain Camila’s support in winning Yvette over.

“Ah, you’re such a charmer! It’s a bit of a stretch to say Auntie is 30 years old,” Camila blushed.

“You’re right, Auntie. If Auntie isn’t married, I’d be interested,” said Declan, trying to convince her.

At this point, Christian entered the house. He immediately chased Declan away, saying, “You have no shame at all. You’d better leave before I get rough with you! Yve never wants to see you. Understand!”

“Hey! Who do you think you are, kicking Declan out like that? Do you think this is your house? The one who should leave is you!” Camila scolded Christian, pointing at his face.

Declan grinned while staring at Christian.

His attitude alone, even without speaking, infuriated Christian.

“Mom, hasn’t Yve said repeatedly that she doesn’t want to see Declan? It’s a pity if this playboy stays here,” Christian said.

Declan, sitting with his legs crossed, said, “Who said Yve doesn’t want to see me? Tonight, I’m having dinner with her at the Bluemoon club and spending the night together.”

“No way Yve would agree! She’s been rejecting the flowers you’ve given her all this time. She even has a thousand reasons not to look at your face,” Christian confidently declared.

Christian ignored Declan’s words. He looked into his wife’s eyes and said, “Are you going to dinner with Declan? Don’t you hate him?”

Yvette sighed deeply. She didn’t want to do this, but the pressure from her entire family, including her mother, forced her to accept Declan’s dinner invitation.

“I have a meeting with an investor. Coincidentally, the investor is a friend of Declan. So, I have to go with him,” Yve explained.

“But does this meeting have to be held at the Bluemoon club?”

“I didn’t decide it. Besides, I don’t have a choice.”

Christian felt saddened. Yve was willing to do something she despised just for the company. He began to blame himself.

“Alright, you two, get going. Don’t mind this useless guy. What does he know about the Bluemoon club? Only the upper class and limited groups can enter there. Even the De Delta Family hasn’t obtained membership yet,” Camila said.

Indeed, the Bluemoon club could only be visited by those with a membership. Creating a membership there required not only a hefty registration fee but also selection based on family caste.

Within Declan’s family, Wilson, who had hundreds of billions in wealth, only obtained a Bronze membership, the lowest tier. Above that were Silver, Gold, and Platinum memberships. The Platinum membership was exclusive to the three richest families in New York

The nightclub was more than just a place to relax; it was a venue to showcase wealth and influence.

“Let’s go, Beautiful,” Declan said gently.

Yvette felt disgusted, but she still walked out of the house.

“Yve, don’t! It’s very dangerous if you go there. You’ll be the only woman,” Christian warned Yve because he didn’t want anything to happen to his wife.

However, the two of them continued toward Declan’s luxurious car.

Christian was about to chase after them, but Camila held his hand.

“Stay put! Don’t interfere in Yve’s business. Her meeting with the investor tonight is crucial. If you can’t help, just stay here. Besides, Declan will be there to protect her,” Camila said with a serious tone.

“But Mom, the root of the problem is Declan. I can see the malice in his eyes,” Christian argued.

“Don’t be ridiculous! Declan comes from an honorable family. There’s no way he would act inappropriately!”

Christian felt he had to protect Yvette. If he couldn’t cancel the meeting, at least he had to ensure his wife’s safety. He pulled his hand away forcefully from his mother-in-law’s grip.

Christian didn’t dare delay for a moment. His gaze was determined; he no longer wanted to be tied to Camila. He immediately hopped on his motorcycle and sped off towards the Bluemoon club.

“Christian, be careful not to ruin this meeting. I won’t forgive you!” Camila shouted.
