Mockery

Roland boarded a cab and showed the driver the address that was stated on the card that was given to him by the mysterious old man he encountered before.

"Here, I want you to follow this address!" Roland showed the card to the driver.

The driver nodded in response. He ignited the engine of the car and rode off to Roland's destination.

A few minutes later, Roland paid for the T-fare with ease. At least he got some money now unlike when he used to ride in his girlfriend's car.

He checked the card if it was the exact location that he was and the card confirmed it.

Roland didn't see any building but only a silver gate that looked like a mirror. He stared at his reflection, he haven't changed his clothes for the past three days.

There was no difference between him and a pauper.

Nevertheless, he still had to meet with the old man. He gave a slight knock on the gate and the gate happened to open by itself.

"Woah!" Roland left his words hanging as he exclaimed.

He was welcomed by well-trimmed leaves that formed the heart shape. And there was a fountain in the middle.

Roland stood still in disbelief. "Paradise!"

A man saw him standing like a statue and walked up to him. "Young man, did you miss your way?"

The man's question jotted Roland to reality. He examined the man standing beside him. His back was bent like one who has a hunchback.

"I'm looking for my way in," Roland said politely.

He was polite as ever, simply because he didn't want to garner unnecessary attention in an unfamiliar place.

"Well, this is the Lafayette's Estate and you can only get to the main building with the use of a vehicle." The man informed.

Roland was shocked. With the use of a vehicle? This place was paradise indeed. The man explained how Roland was going to get to the main building and Roland appreciated him for that.

On his way to get a cab, he was surprised to see some supermarkets, moving cars, and a well-maintained tiled road.

The Lafayette Estate is indeed the largest and biggest estate in the country.

He remained the old man's words of being the true heir of the family.

"Does that mean, all these will belong to me?" Roland soliloquized.

He got to where a cab was parked and boarded it to the main building.

When he got there, he saw a huge signboard with the saying; WELCOME TO L.M.

He has already arrived at Lafayette's Mansion. It was so enormous and it also had a tall building made of glass.

With everything he had seen, he concluded that the estate was worth trillions of dollars.

The passersby were all dressed in a wealthy outfits and they looked at Roland with disgusted looks plastered on their faces.

As if he was an alien from another world. Who would blame them? Roland knew he hasn't even had his bath nor changed into an outfit for the past three days.

He pushed the door open and everyone on the down floor looked at him in unison. They were all surprised to see a pauper in the L.M.

Last time they checked, paupers weren't allowed to step foot in L.E.

Roland smiled sarcastically. He saw a woman sitting at a desk and he guessed she might be the one who would help him get the old man.

He walked towards her, smiling nervously. "Hello ma'am, I'm here to see...!" He gave her a description of what the old man looked like.

"Oh, you're here to see the Butler?" She raised her brow, frowning at him.

"Yes." Roland nodded in agreement.

"What's your business with the Butler?" The woman's frown deepened.

Before Roland could utter a word, the next thing he heard were words of insult. He had to digest the woman's insult as it was nothing compared to the one he had received from his girlfriend.

Roland had no choice but to call the Butler, using the number that was on the card.

Fortunately, the old man answered the call and said he'll be with Roland in a minute.

"Hold on for a minute, I'll be with you shortly and besides I'm so glad that you came."

Roland feels the excitement in the man's voice. He didn't want to tell the old pal that he was being insulted by a random woman.

At this point, a familiar figure just entered the place. Roland hung up when he saw the man that just used the entrance door.

It was the man from the other day. Debbie's lover! The same man he caught in the bed with his loosed girlfriend last night.

Roland tightened his fist in anger. What was he doing here?

He was neatly dressed and his innocent face of his made Roland angry even more.

A snake under the green grass!

The man's gaze met with that of Roland and his lips twitched in disgust.

"Oh, I see! Someone must have come here to get some revenge!" He muttered as he adjusted his blue suit and walked up to Roland who was sneering in anger.

The man clapped, as he was trying to mock Roland. "I can see you're trying to prove yourself as the man that you are?"

"Prove myself!?" Roland laughed but this wasn't the time to laugh as he had some scores to settle.

"You came all the way here to L.E. when you know paupers like you aren't allowed." He examined Roland from the crown of his head to the sole of his feet.

"All because I had my way with your woman?" He continued and the more he blabbed the angrier Roland become.

"You think too lowly of me, young man!" Roland smirked. All this confidence he just had come from nowhere.

"You are low and yes, I do think so lowly of you. And besides, commoners like you don't belong here."

When the latter was done speaking, Roland waited for his next move and his next move was to call some huge-looking men.

"Get him out of here!"

Roland's ears twitched as he couldn't believe what he just heard.

What right does he have to kick him out? Who does he think he is and why is he so well dressed?

To Roland's surprise, the bouncers obeyed the instructions given to them as they were aiming to kick Roland out of the building when a voice halted them.
