Old Time Crush

Roland turned around and saw a lady standing next to him.

He studied her face properly despite how dark the place was. His vision was clear.

"Ha! It stopped raining!" She said before folding back the umbrella.

The dark clouds drifted away slowly and the bright sky overtook the day.

While the lady was busy folding the umbrella, Roland took the opportunity to scan her face but before he could recognize her she was already staring at him.

Roland was stunned to discover that she was his old-time crush in high school.

"Surprised to see me, Roland." The lady had a bright smile plastered on her face. She was already smiling from ear to ear as it was our opportunity to come across a high school classmate.

"I'm surprised and happy as well to see you, Katherine." Roland sooner forgot about his problems immediately he gazed at her beautiful face and her pair of brown eyes.

He couldn't help but scan her body with his eyes and was impressed. She had grown up to become a beautiful lady.

Unlike that fragile being he used to know back then. He loved her meekness and warmness but he didn't let her know his feelings for her back then in high school.

All because she was a nerd and had strict parents too.

However, besides the lady, there was a tall handsome man who was putting on a black tailored suit and with a straight face on.

From his looks, anyone could tell that the man was wealthy. 'Cos his outfit was really expensive.

Roland gave him a polite smile and he extended his hand towards him for a handshake but the man screwed him off.

He glared at Roland as if he had committed an offense. The man didn't even return Roland's handshake.

Roland, on the other hand, didn't expect this impolite gesture as he nodded in disappointment before returning his hand to its rightful position; beside him.

Katherine witnessed what happened and just gave Roland a nervous chuckle before going on to apologize on behalf of the man that came with her.

"I'm sorry for his cold look but he doesn't seem to be comfortable with random people." Katherine gave a reasonable excuse even though it was false but for Roland to feel at ease; somehow.

It was a cool evening, Roland's clothes were drenched and he was already catching a cold.

At first, he thought about the happenings. What his ex-girlfriend did to him and also imagined the nasty fun that Debbie and the man she entangled with might be having.

They should have all the fun while it lasts!

He gazed at the lady that was standing in front of his eyes.

A part of him wanted to protect her and keep her forever but he just couldn't do it as he thought maybe the man standing behind her was her fiance or whatever.

"I can see you're troubled, what might be the issue?" Katherine gave him a questioning look as she saw the worried look that was sitting on his face.

Roland just relieved a sigh. "Kath, it's not important. It's good to see you anyways!"

He tried to digress but the young lass wasn't buying it.

She could see the pain in his eyes. Like a battery loss.

With the way Roland was draining the water out of his shirt by squeezing it, she could tell he was cold. So she handed her jacket over to him.

"Kath, you need the jacket more than I do." He tried to refuse her offer but she insisted on him wearing it.

"I insist!" She smiled lovingly at him and Roland couldn't resist her charm. Especially from her brown round eyes.

Roland was curious to know who the man behind her was. Katherine was quick to notice.

She backed Roland and excused herself as she went a few meters away from Roland with the man by her side.

"Katherine, what are you up to, and who's that man?" The man in a black tailored suit complained with a deep frown sitting on his face.

"Anthony, that's Roland, my high school classmate." She gazed at Roland from where he was standing.

The man named Anthony glared at Roland. He could see how she looked at him, the admiration in her eyes. It was too bad to be true.

"Why are you staring at him like that?" He raised his brow. "That man over there stinks with poverty!" Anthony said almost yelling.

His last words resounded in Katherine's ears as she gave him a slap across his left cheek.

"You don't have any right to address my friend like that. Just because you came from a wealthy home doesn't mean you have the right to downgrade others!"

Katherine yelled angrily at him.

Roland who was witnessing the scene from where he was standing, saw how violent she was to the man which made him wonder about the relationship she has with him.

Anthony couldn't believe that this young lass wanted to ruin his face with her butterfly hand. All he could do was sigh in defeat.

He shouldn't have downgraded the man. At least he was happy she addressed him as her classmate from high school and nothing more.

"I'm sorry!" He firmly said.

The little woman folds her arms on her full chest as she grumped, faking annoyance.

The way she crossed her arms made her cleavage to be visible as she was wearing a v-shaped neck top.

Anthony cleared his throat as he adjusted his tie a bit.

"You can head back now." Katherine released her hand and waited for his response.

The man reluctantly agreed before leaving. He glared at Roland before turning his back to leave.

Katherine sighed in relief, finally, he was out of the way.

She turned around and headed in Roland's direction. Roland had a confused look.

"Kath, what's going on?" Roland couldn't help but ask. The way the man had been staring at him made him uncomfortable.

"I'm sorry for the cold attitude he gave to you but I just wanted to use you as an excuse to get rid of him!"
