Faithful Encounter

As expected, houses are made of wood. The plaza and the mayor's house are the exceptions and only a few houses are built in stone. This village is called Yorel as it's located in the great forest of Yorel

Elena and Captain Klein along with two soldiers stand on the Plaza and give her speech that the Kingdom has prepared houses for the relocation and there are also jobs waiting for them.

The villagers cheers with joy as they heard the news.

Elena walks towards our location and asks Castor to lead the direction to the mayor's house.

The living area is clean and neat. As expected, the technology of this age is the same as Earth in the Late Modern Era.

"Sir Jin, if you are exhausted, please feel free to rest as you are treated as a guest, not a guard." Elena

"Thank you but I'm not tired. Honestly, can I ask you a question?" Jin

"Sure, I will answer your question," Elena said while smiling

"What is the name of your Kingdom?" Jin

I'm curious about the name of the kingdom. I already dump the idea of building my cabin in this forest due to the accident earlier.

"It is the Narva Kingdom. It's 2 day journey from this village. This time I will properly introduce myself. I belong to the nobles of Narva Kingdom as my father status is Earl". Elena sounds happily

Oh! Guess I struck gold this time. It means the payment I will receive is not a shabby amount. I need to impress her, good thing my hobby is reading. I read a lot of books in a different genres, so I know how to properly address such nobles.

"My Lady. I am sorry for not properly giving my respect as I didn't know that your status is Noble." Jin in an apologetic tone.

Though I have a hint she is noble. I still need to make sure so I can size up the information I can gather and what questions should be asked.

"It's okay. As I said earlier, you're more of a guest and beside you help us earlier." Elena

"Thank you. With that, can you tell me about the history? It's embarrassing but this is my first time going outside. I was held captive and become a slave when I was young and stayed only in a specific vicinity. I only escaped due to the help of mercenaries." I said sounding dejected.

Everyone was shocked, but after a few seconds, I can see the pity in their eyes looking at me. That's good, it seems that I have made them believe me.

"Is that so? We are sorry for what you have been through. But still, I can't believe that there are still a lot of people doing that kind of business. It's unforgivable, they counter the mandate of the Mutual Treaty 300 years ago." Elena said angrily.

"My Lady, it's alright. The important thing is I escaped." Jin

After I consoled her, wait, I should be the one to be consoled! Anyway, she started talking about the history of the Narva Kingdom and some limited information about the five continents. She also told me about the first great war and Mutual Treaty.

Time passed and when the sunset, we go to our own separate rooms.

Alone in my room, I started to piece all the information I gathered through talking with Elena. Though I know already that there are five continents it is still better to know more. The world consists of five contents, Northern Continent, Southern Continent, Central Continent, Western Continent, and Eastern Continent.

The Northern Continent and Southern Continent are like the Arctic and Antarctica of Earth as they are ice-covered but there are a lot of people residing on such continents.

The Narva Kingdom is located on the Central Continent. The Kingdom doesn't belong to many powerful human nations.

But it is still a decent one since it can protect its own territory against the rampages of demons. It's another matter if a powerful nation starts to conquer its kingdom.

There is a mutual treaty that took effect 300 years ago. All the human kingdoms and empires among the five continents should not fight with each other under any circumstances as they are still rebuilding what they have lost during the First Great War.

The first great war lasted for 50 years. The Elves, Humans, Dwarf, and other beast-men form an alliance to stop the invasion of demons.

During those times, the demons are powerful. They almost destroy all human nations. Almost half of the world's population was killed during this great war.

The elves totally secluded themselves after the war same with the dwarves. It's very rare now to see the elves and dwarves on a human domain. The beastmen stay on their original continent which is the eastern continent. Some of them traveled to other continents and co-exist with humans.

The race who suffered greatly among the rest is human. That's why they passed a treaty 300 years ago.

They also invited their previous ally like the beastmen but they refused since they already have secured the eastern continent for themselves and promised that they will not join any war as they also suffered a lot. Same with elves as they are not really a war-loving race. They prefer a peaceful environment.

Guess I look for the elves after I stopped the annihilation.

What a burden. I just want to live a lazy and peaceful life. Though I don't like the idea of the old man giving me this burden, I still have gratitude towards him.

As for the Narva Kingdom, they co-exist with beastmen. They are friendly toward each other and currently making a trade with the eastern continent.

The Royal family are kind to its citizen and their surroundings that's why they didn't hesitate to open their Kingdom to those anyone who suffered a lot from demon rampaging. Including the village, I'm currently staying.

Another reason why the Royal Family decided to open its kingdom is due to their bountiful land and wealth as they are located in a strategic position for business and trade. They governed the route that countless merchants is using.

You cannot go to the other side of the continent without passing on Narva King. Imagine the money they earned every day.

Well, you can also use the other route, but the detour is a headache and it's also dangerous due to demon beasts lurking.

And the sole reason why the Narva Kingdom opens its door is due to the tension between the two nations surrounding the Kingdom. The villagers will become a soldier once they are successfully relocated. They needed to strengthen their military capabilities.

There are three human nations neighboring the Narva Kingdom, the Fyn Kingdom in the north, Ruel Empire in the south, and the Vitalis Kingdom in the west. While the great forest of Yorel on the east.

According to Elena, there is currently tension between the Ruel Empire and the Fyn Kingdom that started three years ago. If the war broke out, the Narva Kingdom will surely be razed to the ground due to its location. The only stopping the war from breaking is the Mutual Treaty.

The Vitalis Kingdom is acting as a mediator of two nations. But they are too shady due to their multiple military exercises near the Narva Kingdom.

It's already a crime that the not-so-strong Narva Kingdom is surrounded by powerful and influential nations.

It's obvious that the current Narva Kingdom is weak because they are the one who gives funds to the other kingdom during the first great war.

For that reason, after the war, the resources of the Narva Kingdom are emptied.

With all that information, I decided to stay in the Narva Kingdom for the time being to investigate. The old man said that five years from now the world will perish.

He didn't say when or where the war will take place.

I already have the feeling that this pending war is the spark for annihilation.

And the next problem is the demons getting stronger and their constant rampaging.

Whether I like it or not, I must somehow stop it.

Though I don't know how. Am I strong? I only use my power once and I was shocked when I easily killed the demon bear.

Anyway, it's good that I gather a lot of information on my faithful encounter with Elena.
