7. Can't choose which family to be born

Kaiden was very happy when a new smartphone was brought out by the pretty employee, it was black in color. The blonde employee explained about the smartphone to Kaiden patiently, Kaiden himself asking a lot of questions because this was the first time he had seen such an expensive smartphone.

The blonde girl smiled with relief that Kaiden had the money to buy the latest expensive smartphone. After all the money was counted, the smartphone was prepared so Kaiden could use it quickly.

"If you don't mind, can I ask for your number?" The blonde girl asked.

Kaiden nodded, "Of course, I'm going to open a business selling young coconut ice soon, if you like it, I hope you'll buy it."

"Of course I do, by the way my name is Jennifer, just call me Jenni," said the blonde girl.

"Just call me Kaiden, see you later!"

Kaiden immediately left the place.

However, Kaiden's happiness didn't last long because suddenly a police motorcycle came to arrest Kaiden. Kaiden himself was surprised because he was the policeman who helped him yesterday.

"Oh, Kaiden? We meet again." said the policeman.

Kaiden smiled and shook the policeman's hand, "Yes, it's good to see you, sir. But, why do you want to arrest me?" Kaiden asked confused.

The policeman chuckled briefly before answering, "That brunette over there reported that you stole money so you could buy a smartphone. But if you hadn't stolen the money, I wouldn't have to arrest you."

"Do you believe me or not?" Kaiden asked back, making the policeman feel awkward and uncomfortable, "I do, but I still have to do my job, don't I?"

Kaiden nodded, he understood the cop's situation, he had to do his duty.

"I earned a lot of money because my former boss gave me severance pay after I quit my job, I also entered a contest to become a fashion model of a big store before this. If you don't believe me, I previously worked in a restaurant -"

"Alright enough, I believe you, those clear eyes of yours can't lie, I know you're honest. That girl must have suspected you because she knew you were poor. I'll leave, next time you have to be careful young man."

Kaiden nodded his head, and the policeman rode off on his motorcycle.

Kaiden was actually sad because he knew it must have been Citra who reported him to the police for investigation. Kaiden had never messed with anyone, but people still didn't like him. It wasn't that he expected to be liked by people, it was just - I don't know. 

Was it wrong for Kaiden to want to be liked by others, even just a little?

Kaiden ended up going home on foot, passing by the cool sidewalks as there were many shady trees along the way. He also passed some people selling snacks on the street, there were some snacks that were trending among the people.

Kaiden who had only been able to swallow his saliva if he passed by the street food, but now he had the money to buy it.

Street food there is famous for being very tasty and also cheaper than other cities. For example, sweet and spicy lobster, which is sold as a box of four lobsters with an average lobster length of 15-20 cm, is sold for around 10$ to 15$. While in big cities it may be more than that.

It's not strange, because the small town where Kaiden lives is famous as a seafood town. So seafood or other food is quite cheap there.

Kaiden, who was curious, bought a box of lobster for 12$, which the seller said was the best lobster caught by his uncle. The vendor was a very kind and sincere looking man, he was also very friendly. Although it was just a small stand on the side of the road, there were several customers in cars who came to buy.

Kaiden learned a lot from the way the man sold. One of them is to be kind, friendly and sincere in serving buyers.

After buying lobster, Kaiden also bought mango smoothies, because it was mango harvest season. Kaiden bought a cup of mango smoothies for 1.5$. It was a bit expensive for a small town resident, but since the mangoes were the best and naturally sweet, it was a bargain for Kaiden.

Kaiden was very happy to finally be able to have a snack with his own money without thinking about debt or anything.

He got home safely, he even had time to change his clothes and eat the lobster and mango smoothies he bought.

He felt relaxed and couldn't wait to start selling tomorrow.

That was until some big guys came and demolished Kaiden's house, which was basically about to collapse.

"You said you got a lot of money from your boss, but instead of paying back your debts, you just go around buying snacks like that, aren't you afraid of us? Do you want me to break your arm again?" Snapped one of them, who was the leader of the thugs.

Kaiden was terrified, so he took the 1000$ he had gotten earlier and gave it to them.

"Forgive me, I can only pay this much, I promise I'll pay it back soon because tomorrow I'm going to try selling." Kaiden said.

The chief thug counted the money Kaiden gave him, "Only this much? You still owe so much, sell properly and pay off that your family debt! I won't beat you up out of pity, but if you pay late again, I won't hesitate to crush your bones!"

Kaiden cringed at the thugs' words, he was so scared, because he felt so small compared to them. Moreover, Kaiden was the owner of the debt, so he couldn't possibly fight them.

"Poor guy, if I had a family like that, I'd probably hang myself first," Kaiden could hear the conversation from the thugs as they left his house.

"He's too stupid, but he also has no choice, we can't choose which family we're born into."

"If I could choose, I'd choose to be born into the family that owns the Royal Group of companies."

"You're right, hahahaha."

Kaiden just listened silently to their conversation, because they were right too. If he could choose, Kaiden wouldn't want to be born into such a messy family.
