A taxi parked right in front of an exquisite-looking mansion. The driver waited for a few seconds for the two passengers to alight the vehicle before he drove the car off.
The two figures stood in front of the gate and admired the beautiful scenery of the compound before them.
The Anderson mansion was a luxurious building. It had an exquisite structure and was also regarded as one of the most expensive buildings in Lakehill estate.
As Aiden looked at his mother standing beside him, he finally realized that these facts weren't exaggerated. "Are you sure about this, mom? I honestly don't have an optimistic feeling about this." Aiden asked Sarah in a worrisome tone.
Sarah sighed deeply. "I am also feeling very nervous at the moment but I have to try because we don't have any other option to solve our problem." She answered openly and walked towards the gate of the mansion.
Aiden quickly followed behind her and observed her speaking into the voice intercom placed outside the gate for visitors.
"Hello, I am here to seek an audience with the owners of this house." Sarah announced through the intercom.
"Do you have an appointment?" A voice belonging to a security officer asked Sarah through the intercom.
"I don't have an appointment but please let them know that Sarah is here to see them." Sarah responded.
"Okay, hold on for a short while." The voice said.
After waiting for a few minutes, the mansion's gate automatically opened, giving way for Aiden and Sarah to enter the compound.
"You have been granted access to the premises. kindly head to the main building to meet your host." The voice instructed Sarah.
"Thank you," Sarah said.
As they followed the stone path leading to the mansion, Sarah's face remained expressionless as she continued walking towards the building. However, Aiden was in awe as he observed the landscape of the compound.
Soon, they arrived in the main hall of the mansion and entered the building. As they both strolled into the room, Sarah was surprised to see that the living room was occupied by two individuals that she did not expect to meet.
"It is a surprise to have you come to this house again. What are you doing?" A woman wearing a short blue gown instantly challenged Sarah as she walked into the room.
"I am sorry, Lisa. I wasn't aware that you're now the head of the family and I would need your permission before I can enter this house." Sarah responded curtly.
"Tsk….I just can't believe your shamelessness." Lisa rolled her eyes as she replied.
"It is you that is shameless because you crossed a line and besides I don't need your invitation before I can enter here."
"How dare you insult me?" Lisa yelled in anger.
"I was only speaking the truth." Sarah casually responded.
"Honey, are you just going to ignore the fact that this wench will just come back here and begin insulting me in your presence?" Lisa made a desperate call to the man sitting next to her in the room.
"Lisa, you need to be careful of the way you speak to my wife." The man glared at Sarah as he gave her a warning.
"Nice to see you too, Thomas. I can see that you're still a puppet under the strings of your wife." Sarah said with a sarcastic smile.
Thomas stood up abruptly."You crazy b*tch." He said while pointing his finger at Sarah.
"What is the meaning of this useless ruckus?" The voice of an elderly looking man echoed in the room as he climbed down the stairs. This man's name was Robert Anderson and he was the head of the Anderson family.
"Father, you're here already." Thomas said nervously.
"Welcome, Father-in-law." Lisa quickly got up from her seat and immediately greeted Robert as she sighted him because she couldn't afford to offend him in any way. Although Lisa was also from wealthy backgrounds, her family's wealth couldn't be compared to the Anderson family's wealth.
As long as Robert was still the head of the Anderson family, Lisa would always try her best to continue flattering him in order to continue reaping surplus benefits from him.
Robert nodded in response to both Thomas and Lisa's greetings. Meanwhile, Sarah waited until Robert was seated before she decided to greet him.
"Hello Father, I hope you've been well." Sarah asked with concern.
"You entered this house after all these years and the first thing you do is engage in an argument with your older brother. Besides who is this wimp standing behind you?" Robert interrogated Sarah while ignoring her greeting.
"I apologize father and this is my son and your grandson."
Sarah glanced at Aiden and beckoned him to show his respect to Robert.
Aiden who had been standing behind his mother and silently watching the controversy between Sarah, Thomas and Lisa quickly bowed slightly to Robert. "I am Aiden Maxwell and I hope you're well?"
Robert looked disdainfully at Aiden. "Humph…This is the fruit of your marriage with that lowlife bastard." He said while snorting with a displeased expression.
Aiden was furious at how Robert insulted his father but he chose to remain silent and allow his mother to handle the situation.
"What has brought you here? I don't recall asking for your presence." Robert said while frowning at Sarah.
Although Sarah expected this kind of reaction from her father, her mood was dampened because it was still hurtful to realize how uncaring Robert was about her well-being.
Sarah was Robert's youngest daughter and also the last born child of her five siblings. She grew up while enjoying the luxury her family had to offer but eventually she fell in love and married her college lover, William Maxwell.
Willam was from an average family whose standard were far below the Anderson family. Nonetheless, Sarah loved him despite this flaws but the same couldn't be said for the rest of her family especially Robert who had planned to get Sarah married to man from another wealthy family to form an alliance.
Sarah, however, remained adamant to her decision to marry William, forcing Robert to exclude her from the family. It has been twenty-three years since that incident.
Sarah hadn't returned to her family for a long time, but there was a difficult situation at hand which required her family's assistance. This explains why she was here today to meet her father who wasn't welcoming her presence.
"Why are you answering our father's questions?" Thomas, who appeared to be enjoying Sarah's predicament, taunted her.
"Why don't you mind your own business?" Sarah retorted back.
Robert stomped his wooden cane on the ground in annoyance. "I don't have time for your useless bickering, Sarah."
"I came because I desperately needed your help, father," Sarah explained shyly.
"You really are shameless, Sarah. You returned after all this time to seek assistance from the family you abandoned to stay with a lowly commoner." Lisa mocked with a smug smile.
"He is still my father and I have the right to ask for help. Besides, this is a family discussion, so I suggest you don't interfere." Sarah warned Lisa with a glare.
"Enough," Robert bellowed and looked directly at Sarah. " As for you Sarah, I don't think I needed to remind you that you're no longer part of this family ever since the moment you decided to run away to that piece of trash. Yet, you still have the guts to come into my house to request my assistance and still speak rudely to my family members." He ranted furiously.
Sarah immediately fell to her knees. "Please Father, if you don't help me now my family is going to be in a big mess."
"What is my concern with that? Wasn't it your decision to marry that good-for-nothing man and leave all this wealth you could still be enjoying today?" Robert shouted.
Sarah tried to persuade Robert. "Father, you have to forget about that incident since it happened a long time ago."
"Did you realize the shame your actions put our family through? I have removed your name from the family registry. Henceforth, I don't want to ever want to have anything to do with you and the rest of the pathetic family you chose over us."
Hearing Robert's response, Sarah quickly clung to his feet. "Please, just help me with this once as the last duty you would accomplish to your child. My husband will be in serious danger if you don't help me." She pleaded with tears in her eyes.
Robert looked at Sarah in disgust before kicking her away.Standing up and aiming to hit Sarah with his wooden can, he said, "Get away from me, disgraceful child."
However, Aiden quickly rushed toward where his mother was lying after being kicked away. Taking hold of Robert's wooden stick that was about to hit Sarah, he pushed it back. This caused Robert to stumble back into the chair as he pushed it back.
"Father…" Both Thomas and Lisa screamed in shock as the ran towards where Robert fell.
