Cassian was surprised by Isabell's statement. Although he was able to predict the enemy's movements and devise a war strategy, he could not have predicted that Aveline would want a divorce. It was beyond his reach.

He was disappointed that Aveline filed for divorce at their meeting after all this time. Apparently, she had a different idea about this meeting.

"Why are you doing nothing? Take these divorce papers and return them to me when you have signed them," Isabella growled in annoyance that Cassian was silent like a fool.

Cassian snapped out of his reverie. Unable to see, his hand fumbled on the table for the divorce papers. But he accidentally nudged the coffee cup, spilling the contents onto the documents.

"I'm sorry! I didn't do it on purpose!"

Isabella did not accept Cassian's apology and snapped at him, "You must have done it on purpose! Are you pretending to be blind to mess things up? I'm sure you expected Aveline to divorce you, so you planned this."

Hearing the accusation, Cassian felt miserable because he never once thought that Aveline would divorce him. The first person he thought of after the war was over was her.

It hurt because it turned out that Aveline did not share the same feelings with him. He always cared for her even when he was on the battlefield, as evidenced by his efforts to help her succeed in her business.

He never contacted Aveline to reveal the truth because the enemy could have targeted her. As a result, he did everything in secret.

"I didn't fake anything," he defended himself. "I have no intention of messing up the divorce papers."

Aveline felt terrible that the meeting after three years had turned out this badly. She had anticipated her relationship with Cassian to be bad from the start.

But she did not imagine their first meeting would be such a mess. First, Cassian confessed that he was blind, something she never expected. And now, the divorce papers she finally got with great difficulty were messed up by him.

After the passing of her grandfather a year ago, she applied for a divorce, but the government kept rejecting it. Only three days ago was the divorce finally approved.

She could not stand Cassian not trying to contact her at all. Moreover, her fashion business was becoming more and more popular. If Cassian brought nasty gossip to her brand, she could lose a lot.

"I believe you really can't see," Aveline said, looking at the blind stick Cassian had held since the beginning.

Even if he did pretend to be blind, it was pointless because she was going to divorce him no matter what.

"Please state your divorce demands. I will try to fulfill them."

Cassian smiled wryly. "Do we have to divorce?"

Aveline did not respond to his question. Instead, it was Isabella who provided the answer.

She sneered, "It's a must! In just three years, Aveline has become a famous businesswoman. You, an unknown soldier, are no match for her!"

"Give me a chance. I'll try for Aveline."

"A chance, you say? What can you do with those blind eyes of yours? A woman like Aveline deserves a better man."

Cassian was silent. Whether he liked it or not, Isabell's words did make sense. Compared to him, who had lost his power, Aveline was in a much better position.

She must need a man of equal stature to maintain her reputation as a businesswoman. If people found out she was married to an unknown warrior, they would ridicule her.

Three days ago, Cassian was still a God of War that everyone in the country respected and looked up to. But now he was like a homeless dog. He could not imagine he could be this pathetic.

"Fine, I agree," Cassian chose to give in as Aveline did not seem to want to keep their marriage. "I only want my home. My parents left it for me."

Isabella was mad again. The house Cassian wanted was a good property, so she would not let him get it.

"That house is worth a million dollars. You can't take it from Aveline. All this time, you left her with nothing but that house. Do you have the heart to take that away from her? You're a shameless man!"

Unlike the hotheaded Isabella, Aveline could control her temper well. Her secretary became so angry because many people tried to deceive her for their benefit.

She gave a sign for Isabella to stop talking. Staring at the dirty divorce papers, she spoke, "I will send you a new divorce agreement. I hope you understand the reason behind this divorce."

"Yes, I do. You're thinking of your reputation," Cassian smiled with a hint of irony.

"It's good that you understand. You just want your house, right? I'll take care of it."

Isabella let out a disappointed sigh. "You shouldn't have given the house away. Your ex-husband is likely to get you into trouble. Those annoying journalists will try to get information about your divorce."

"It's okay. Cassian is blind, so we should have mercy on him," Aveline replied with a smile.

Despite her calm demeanor, she worried about journalists revealing her divorce. They probably looked into Cassian's past first.

If they discovered he was a soldier who was not invited to the grand ceremony, people might laugh at her for marrying such a man.

"Find someone you can trust to read the whole agreement," Aveline advised Cassian before leaving the café with Isabella.

Now, Cassian was the only one left. The waitress scolded him for making a mess on the table with spilled coffee.

"Sir, I saw you spilled this coffee, but just let it happen. My boss could reprimand me if this table isn't clean before new customers arrive!"

But the look on her face changed when she noticed the blind stick and divorce documents, making her hurriedly leave after cleaning the table out of guilt.

Cassian left the cafe as there was nothing else he could do there. But a group of youngsters running from the opposite direction collided with him.

A young man clucked his tongue. "Hey, use your eyes properly! Didn't you see us coming?!"

"Shhh, look at that," the girl beside him whispered, pointing at the stick held by Cassian.

The others quickly noticed that Cassian was blind. They exchanged glances, smirking. One of them kicked Cassian's stick away.

"Oops, sorry, I didn't mean to!"

Cassian felt wry inside for losing his stick. He had to crouch and fumble on the floor to get it back. When he almost found it, the teenagers kicked it further away.

"Uncle, the stick is on your left. Move over there a bit more!"

"Geez, why do you keep losing it? We've already given you the right instructions."

"Can't you see it? Oh, sorry, I forgot that you're blind!"

Knowing he was being played, Cassian rose to his feet. "Kids, please return the stick to me," he requested gently.

However, the teenagers grew furious at Cassian's actions. They deliberately pushed him, but someone caught his arms this time, preventing him from falling to the floor.

The next day, Cassian was going to court alone at the appointed time. Elara was not with him because he did not want to involve her in his personal affairs. Aveline was already there with Isabella. She waited impatiently for Cassian to arrive. "He will come, right? I'm afraid he ran away because he doesn't want to divorce me," she bit her thumb nervously. The thought of Cassian running away and not signing the divorce documents made Isabella anxious, too. If the divorce were not confirmed soon, Cassian would still be Aveline's husband. Divorce requires the consent of both parties because the court will not approve if there is a lack of evidence. "You and that useless man should get a divorce as soon as possible!" Isabella stated. "If he doesn't come here, I will find a way to get you two divorced." Aveline frowned. "How? Cassian didn't see me for three years, but the court could have excused it because he went to the army during that time." "That's easy. You can say he cheated

"Did you just threaten to beat a soldier?" Liam's face turned red at the taunt. He knew that Cassian went to the battlefield for three years. But he could not accept being humiliated like this. Driven by anger, he clenched his fist and targeted Cassian's face for a punch. Before that could happen, Elara arrived quickly and delivered a powerful kick to his stomach. Liam crashed into the table, causing it to split into two. A cry of agony escaped from his lips as he experienced intense pain in his abdomen and spine. "W-Who are you?!" Stella panicked, seeing her son being kicked so effortlessly by a woman. She pointed a fruit knife at Elara. "I'll call the police! Get out of here!" The fruit knife was certainly no threat to Elara. She had already dealt with various weapons. The police woul

He glanced at Cassian, who he saw coming with Elara. It irritated him that an ordinary guy could approach her."I saw you coming with this shabby man. That hurts my heart! A poor loser doesn't deserve to be with a woman like you. I can treat you better than him. You're better off by my side."Elara smirked. "And what makes you think you're worthy of me? You're annoying me. Get out of my face!"The young man was furious after Elara insulted him in front of everyone. The warmth vanished from his expression in an instant. His face turned red as people in the lobby looked at him with pity. His brother, accompanying him, was also furious. He told Elara, "It's like you've become ignorant by hanging out with losers. You weren't even invited to the Grand Ceremony!""I told you I had important business, so I couldn't attend.""Then show me the Grand Ceremony invitation!"Elara left the invitation card in her apartment because she did not expect to run into Olivia this way. If he had discarded his pride long ago, Cassian would probably still be in the military now.But Ronin thought too highly of himself, believing he could make Weltaria reach the top under his rule. His arrogance slowly faded when Cassian appeared and shook his power. At that moment, the President realized he had been defeated by someone greater than himself. However, he refused to accept this reality and eventually allied with Arlo. Even after betraying his own country, he still could not defeat Cassian. He would have done so long ago if he could."Are you serious?" Virgil asked in disbelief.Ronin gave a wry smile. "The soldiers won't obey me since I am only respected. They need someone they fear to force them to fight on the battlefield."Everyone fell silent at that answer. They had had Ronin as President for almost five years, so they were familiar with a

How could Ronin, who was so temperamental, stay composed when things did not go according to plan?Whack! Finally, the sound of a slap shattered the silence. Waylon did not move an inch despite Ronin slapping him hard, showing his incredible physical strength.Ronin grew more offended by Waylon's reaction to the slap. Arlo's betrayal had already weighed heavily on him; now, someone from his faction added to his burden."You dare—""Of course, I dare," Waylon interrupted, his gaze growing colder. Your position is not higher than mine. Just wait and see until I destroy you!" he shouted, saliva flying from his mouth."I don't believe you can win the war," Daisy continued, mocking Ronin. He had been observing Vance ever since Cassian was still in power and believed that Vance was an opportunist. The soldiers who had left to support Cassian were nothing more than active-duty soldiers currently under Ronin's control. Because of this, Ronin was confident that Vance would not turn against him."S-Sir, it seems General Vance has blocked your number," Jolene said nervously.Ronin frowned. "How could he dare do that? Cassian's absence in this war did not intimidate the President's Faction. They believed they could outmatch their enemies with better weapons. The Narman Empire's economy crashed after surrendering with terms, while Weltaria continued to grow stronger.Financially, Weltaria's military was in a much better position. Humans were powerless when faced with weapons. That's what Ronin's supporters believed until they were shocked by the soldiers' response."I immediately announced the news to everyone at General Headquarters. Most of the soldiers refused to go to the battlefield. Only a few were willing, and we won't win even with good weapons," Stefan answered, trying to hold back his frustration.Ronin slammed the podium again.
