The boldness with which Jeremiah said “Yes, I did” demoralized David.

It was like he was telling David that he didn’t regret what he did and was daring him to reprimand his actions.

Knowing that he couldn’t lash out at Jeremiah for what he did, David had no choice but to gulp and accept what happened and move on— making him more mad because he hated being made to feel small and insignificant.

“I’m sure you had your reasons but can you please tell me why you hurt my friends,” David asked, making sure to choose his words carefully so as not to sound like he was confronting Jeremiah.

“Friends? I think you’re misunderstanding something, David.” Reginald said and David quickly looked at him, wondering what he was talking about.

“Jeremiah didn’t hurt your friends but your friend. Only one person was hurt by his hands” Reginald clarified.

David grimaced.

He reflected on Reginald’s words and remembered that the king had said “friend” instead of “friends” when he revealed that the per

Reginald started by revealing the history of Crimson Fall to David, who at first was confused as to why he was telling him an old folk tale but soon realized why when Reginald told him the part that only the king and a select few knew. The moment David heard about reincarnation, his eyes widened, asking himself if such a thing existed.Unfortunately, that wasn’t the only bombshell he was going to hear as the story continued to unfold.Reginald told him that it was the Garrick family's mission to make sure that Lord Crimson, the powerful dragon who ruled over Crimson Fall for centuries, reincarnated and like that wasn’t enough, he gestured at Jeremiah and told him that Jeremiah was Lord Crimson, reincarnated.“I’m sorry what?” David asked, trying to make sure he wasn’t mishearing things. “You heard me right. Your cousin, who we all thought was dead, is our one true ruler. The all-powerful, Lord Crimson” Reginald said passionately. David’s eyes blinked multiple times as he looked at

David tried standing up but before he did, Kingston offered him a hand. David looked at Kingston’s hand but instead of accepting, he felt insulted. The fact that he had just heard that Jeremiah, his one competition for the throne, was a powerful being who could do whatever he wanted, made him feel weak and useless in comparison, and seeing Kingston’s hand annoyed the hell out of him.Still, he had to maintain composure.“No thanks. I can stand on my own” David said, feigning a smile.“As you wish, Sir” Kingston replied then retracted his hand and stood upright while David went on his feet and walked back to where he once was.“Are you okay?” Reginald asked. However, David, who was annoyed that Reginald felt it necessary to ask that question out of concern for his earlier reaction, forced a smile.“I am Uncle, so please, continue,” David said. Reginald looked at Jeremiah and said “You should also listen to what I’m going to say because it involves you as well” “Okay,” Jeremiah grim

David, looking at Jeremiah, blinked multiple times to emphasize his shock.Even though he had once thought that Jeremiah had joined hands with Dean and Adam to kill all the guards—after seeing the dismembered bodies when he escaped the plant—the fact that this was only an assumption and was never confirmed left him with some doubt that Jeremiah had ever gotten blood on his hands. That assumption quickly vanished after he heard about how Jeremiah saved everyone at the welcome ceremony from the Rubik's Cube bomb and even traveled a great distance to save him. However, when Jeremiah admitted outright that he had killed Dean—and went on to elaborate on how he did it—it sent a shock through David's body. He realized he might have been wrong about who Jeremiah had killed, but not about the fact that he had killed someone.‘So he really is a cold-blooded murderer’ David thought and gulped.Just then, David noticed something that felt concerning. He looked at Reginald and the three other men—

Inside the Study, Reginald, who noticed that Jeremiah’s mind was elsewhere, asked him what he was doing. Jeremiah had actually been eavesdropping on David, wondering if he would say anything that would expose his involvement in the gas processing plant’s explosion and prove to Jeremiah that his suspicion was right. However, that didn’t happen and Jeremiah got annoyed that David stopped talking all of a sudden. From the last sentence Jeremiah heard David say before abruptly cutting himself off, he concluded that David knew he was onto him and was actively trying not to expose himself. Or perhaps it was just a coincidence, and Jeremiah was wrong about the whole thing—meaning David wasn’t involved in the explosion at all. There could only be one answer to the two possibilities, and time would reveal which one was correct because sooner or later, David was bound to slip up. All Jeremiah had to do was wait for that moment to come. Jeremiah replied “Nothing. I was just listening to wh

Jeremiah grinned, happy about the news of him getting to learn magic.Magic was something every kid wished they could do growing up, but eventually, they would become disappointed when they found out that it wasn’t real. However, not only was Jeremiah going to fulfill his childhood dream of learning and then doing magic, but it wasn’t going to be the type the magicians he loved to watch did. This wasn’t going to be tricks or sleight-of-hand gimmicks, but rather the real deal. The same type of magic that only existed in fictional movies with characters seemingly doing the impossible with just the utterance of words and now he was about to be one of them.“Now that Dark Emblem has been informed of the Lord’s return and will be preparing to come for him, do you realistically think that you have enough time to teach him magic that would make a difference between winning or losing?” Reginald asked. Obadiah looked at Jeremiah from head to toe, placed his hand on his chin, groaned, and the

The moment Jeremiah opened the door of Reginald’s Study and was about to step out, he saw David standing a couple of feet away and feigning that fake smile he always does when he sees him.Being able to read David like a book, Jeremiah knew that he was pretending not to be annoyed about not hearing anything that was said in the Study after trying his best to eavesdrop on the conversation he had with, Reginald, Kingston, and Obadiah.“Cousin— I mean, My Lord,” David said. Jeremiah groaned as he looked at David, skeptically. This was the first time David was addressing him as “My Lord” which was strange because he didn’t do it immediately after finding out that he was Lord Crimson.Everyone that knew about Lord Crimson and found out that Jeremiah was him quickly changed how they addressed him from his name or young master to “My Lord” except for David, who kept calling him cousin until he now, so what changed?Knowing that David wouldn’t do anything without a reason, Jeremiah concluded

“Can I come in?” Jeremiah asked and Brenda, who was still shocked that he was there in front of her, remained speechless for a moment. “Hello? Anybody home?” Jeremiah snapped his finger in front of Brenda’s face and pulled her back to her senses. “I’m sorry, young master Jeremiah. What did you say—?” Brenda asked but was cut off.“Of course, young master. You can come in” said Kristin, who found a way to stand up on one foot, holding onto the bed frame so she doesn’t put weight on her sprained ankle. “You own the entire estate, this room including, so you’re the last person who should be asking for permission to do anything or enter anywhere,” Kristin said, a flirting tone in her voice. Brenda, who knew what her best friend was doing, quickly turned to Kristin and smiled in approval. “No, this is your room so no matter who I am, I still have to ask for permission to come in,” Jeremiah said and Kristin bowed her head in concession. “Anyway, thanks for inviting me in, and don’t wo

“Thank you very much, Young Master! I’ll make sure to share your number with Kristin later” Brenda said with a huge smile on her face then she waited for Kristin to say something too, but the girl was quiet.Brenda quickly looked at Kristin and used her eyes and expression to tell her to say something to Jeremiah.“That’s right, thank you young master Jeremiah! It’s great that I’ll be able to reach out to you whenever I want— I mean, need your help” Kristin said, smiling awkwardly.“You’re welcome,” Jeremiah smirked then took a deep breath, sighed, and placed his hands on his thighs.“Anyway, since I’ve confirmed that you’re doing okay and my reason for visiting has been completed, I’ll be taking my leave and going back to my room,” Jeremiah said as he stood up. Brenda quickly stood up too, saying “Let me open the door for—“Jeremiah stopped her with a hand gesture.“It’s fine. Grey drove all the way to a very expensive hotel somewhere in the city. He parked in front of the entrance and the valet stationed there rushed to the car to greet him. However, instead of waiting outside for him to come out, the valet grabbed the driver-door and opened it for him.“Welcome back, Master Grey” the valet greeted, bowing his head with a massive smile on his face. Grey acted like nothing was said to him— his face unbothered and emotionless as turned his body, indicating that he wanted to step out. “My apologies, Master Grey” The valet moved out of the way, giving Grey the space to step out of the car— which he did. “I hope you had a wonderful outing, Master Grey,” the valet said but was ignored as Grey walked past him. But, from how the valet looked, it didn’t seem like Grey’s behavior affected or deterred him from wanting to please the powerful Dark Emblem mage more. The valet faced the interior of the car and had wanted to enter but saw the portrait and box in whic

Meanwhile, back at the Mercury Jewels Jewelry Shop— at the back where Jeremiah and Grey had their confrontation—two of the staff were there, crouching by the wall and smoking a cigar. It was their break and this was what they usually did.“Damn, today was a really good day. So many customers coming in to buy expensive shit and the day isn’t even over yet. At the rate we’re going, I have a feeling we’ll be getting a pay raise soon” said one of the staff.“It probably has something to do with the auction that took place not too long ago. Business usually booms during it but I hope you’re right ‘cause I really need the extra money. My kid is about to go to college and I want to put him in a really good one that will help him have a bright future” said the second staff. “Speaking of your kid, how is he? He doesn’t visit you as much as he used to in the past” the first staff said.“Yeah. He’s at that age where he doesn’t want to hang out with his old dad anymore but he’s a good kid” “Tha

“Alright, Lynette, what’s the catch to this so-called ability of yours?” Jeremiah asked, his tone hitting his fatigue. [“Since it's an automatic death sentence for the person I'm linked to the moment I die, it means their life ends when my current lifecycle ends—and a new one begins with me being reborn as a newborn.”] Lynette replied and Jeremiah groaned. “So you’re saying that if you manage to go through this battle without getting temporarily killed, Dad will remain alive no matter what for the next thirty-nine years which is when your current cycle ends,” Jeremiah said, his tone extremely skeptical.[“That’s right. I’ve linked with only one person in all my lives and thanks to them I know exactly what this ability is capable of and what its limits are. I and the person in question cannot be unlinked once linked. That’s the price they pay for accepting the link and gaining short-term immortality”]This meant that Lynette couldn’t just link with any random person. They had to know

  • CHAPTER 304

Reginald had to admit that Jeremiah made a lot of sense with what he had said. Things were very dangerous with Dark Emblem knowing Jeremiah’s whereabouts and were going to attack him at any moment. Reginald was already someone they wanted dead— although he wasn’t a priority like Jeremiah and Obadiah were— so it would basically be the same as putting him on a silver platter if he was anywhere near Jeremiah whenever Dark Emblem decided to attack. They would definitely kill him first if the opportunity presented itself. Or worst-case scenario, they would try to use him as a hostage and make Jeremiah unable to attack as strongly as he would have. Granted, the likelihood Dark Emblem does that is very low because they didn’t have a good impression of Lord Crimson and thought he didn’t care about any human being enough for them to work as a hostage against him. However, the fact that Jeremiah risked his life to save everyone at the welcome ceremony, made things different and that narrat

  • CHAPTER 303

Jeremiah went ahead to tell Reginald, Kingston, and Lynette what happened— the same as he did with Obadiah, shocking them with each detail he gave, and when he was done, they went silent for an extended period before regaining their composure.[“I didn’t think you would be discovered this quickly after moving back to Bakers View, son”] Reginald said and then groaned—pondering what to say next. [“However, now that the cat is out of the bag and they are coming for you, we have no choice but to look for a way forward. With that said, what’s your plan?”] “My plan, huh? Well, it’s very simple. To fight!” Jeremiah said, resolve echoing from his eyes. Reginald chuckled lightly.[“I wouldn’t have expected anything different. In that case, you will be needing help if you hope to survive this. I’m assuming you’ve decided to have Bakers View as the battleground”]“Yes, I do. This is my hometown, where those Dark Emblem assholes caused my mother to get into an accident that put her in a coma w

Jeremiah returned the relic to where he got it from and without wasting any second, he took out his phone from his pocket and called Kingston. After a few seconds, the call was answered. [“Young Master, Jeremiah”] Kingston greeted. “Good afternoon, Kingston,” Jeremiah replied.[“Good afternoon young master. How is your—?”] Kingston said but Jeremiah cut him off.“Before you ask any questions, I want to know if you’re anywhere close to my father,” Jeremiah asked, the urgency in his voice eliciting intrigue in the butler.[“Unfortunately, I’m not in Master Reginald’s presence but he is in the estate”]“That’s good. Now, I want you to go find my father and put me on speaker phone cause there’s something I want to tell the two of you—“ Jeremiah said but was interrupted. [“Is that Jeremiah?”] Lynette asked excitedly. [“Yes, Lady Lynette. It is”] Kingston replied and Jeremiah groaned.[“Great! I’ve been dying to talk to him so give me the phone!”] Lynette instructed, her hand already

Jeremiah walked around the store in a soured mood, arrived at the front, and got on his motorcycle. He drove back home, all the while thinking about Grey Lucian, who was someplace he couldn’t find, and the fact that he couldn’t tell if Grey was watching him as he went back to the estate pissed him off. Anyone else would have been in a constant state of fear and worry but not Jeremiah. He believed in his capabilities as a dragon and mage and that he was able to have a calm mind. Plus, he knew that it would take some time for the members of Dark Emblem to be ready enough to attack him so in that meantime he was safe. The future, however, was a different story. For the moment, Jeremiah’s concern was on the issue of the tracking spell Grey had put on him. From the looks of it, Grey might have either been telling the truth or lying through his teeth because no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t sense the magic of the spell on him. Even if he could sense the mana, it would only mean

Jeremiah’s face twitched after hearing Andrews call him his other name. “So you know about my real identity too. That’s interesting” Jeremiah scoffed then did a scan of the other people standing and watching him and Andrews. “That’s a neat trick. Unfortunately, your illusions don’t work on me— not anymore anyway— so it would be better if you just deactivate it and stop wasting mana” Jeremiah said. Andrews looked at the other people on the premises, who smiled at him and Jeremiah, groaned and said “I wonder what changed to make my magic no longer work on you. Is it perhaps that box you won from the auction because it would make sense why you were so interested in it.” Andrews chuckled, returned his gaze to Jeremiah, and continued, “It’s a shame I didn’t see how valuable it was to bid for it. But even if I had, you would have outbid me, wouldn’t you?” Andrews deactivated his illusion magic and everyone on the premises, beside him and Jeremiah, disappeared. “…” Jeremiah refraine

  • CHAPTER 299

Reliving his memories of the auction, Jeremiah started to notice some strange inconsistencies with them like a veil was being lifted off his mind. To be specific, his memories of Andrews and Martha took on a different and clearer light and he realized the truth which was that there was nobody like Martha in the entire auction. However, that didn’t make sense because not only him but the auctioneer and everyone else in the auction house interacted with her so what was going on?Jeremiah was confused and the more his memories of the auction cleared, the more he understood until finally he realized what happened— Martha was never real and was created by an illusion spell to trick not just him but everyone else in the auction. Just as he figured that out and the false memories were cleared off his mind, leaving only the real one, Jeremiah realized that he had figured out the truth before but back when he did, something— the veil as he termed it— covered his mind and made him forget unt
