The Ultimate Mogul Strikes Back! CHAPTER 219
Obadiah started the spell and so far so good, what happened last time didn’t repeat itself.Jeremiah didn’t get bombarded with memories of his past life while his eyes were closed and he experienced the passage of time normally— as he should. The only thing that was similar to the last time they did this was that he felt something rising in his core— a warm feeling.“Can you hear me, young master?” Obadiah asked while still casting the spell.“Yes, teacher, I can” Jeremiah replied.“You’re going to feel something deep within and when you do—“ Obadiah said but Jeremiah cut him off.“I already do… feel it I mean,” Jeremiah said.“Good. Good. That’s your mana core. It’s where your magical energy is stored and from what I can feel, it’s going to be extremely massive even at its base level. It’s going be far more superior than anything a human like me can have naturally”Emphasis was on the word “naturally” as there was a way to increase a mage’s core size and strength and that was throug

“Alright, young master. Try using your core now” Obadiah said as he stood up and placed his hand on Jeremiah’s back. “Okay, teacher” Jeremiah replied, and then he did just that.He focused on his mana core and tried contracting it like he would contract his muscles— hoping that it would work.“That’s it, young master. Just like that” Obadiah said and Jeremiah smiled, happy that what he did was working. Slowly, Obadiah filtered through the energy Jeremiah’s core produced as he tried identifying the types of magic he could use— or in other words, his mana affinity.Normally, a mage is proficient in two— sometimes three— types of magic. Then there are the basic spells that all mages can do— no matter the mana affinity. However, because of the human sacrifices Dark Emblem members make, they are able to do spells that normal mages cannot. An example of this is the Implosion magic that Adam loved to use. There are some gifted mages like Obadiah who was proficient in four types of magic,

“What do you mean, teacher?” Jeremiah asked.“Grey was hungry for power, beyond what my teaching could ever give him— even in the wicked environment that was Dark Emblem. He started to learn on his own and soon enough he caught up to me in terms of strength but he still wasn’t satisfied” Obadiah said and Jeremiah grimaced in confusion. “But how was that possible?” Jeremiah asked.“What do you mean, young master?” Obadiah asked back.“You have four mana affinities so how could Grey have caught up to you in strength?” He asked. “Remember when I said I’ve only ever met one person in my life, besides you, who had the same amount of mana affinity as me?” Obadiah asked and Jeremiah’s eyes widened.“Wait. Grey was the other person?!” “That’s right, young master” Obadiah nodded his head. “The upside of having a higher number of mana affinity is that it allows you to hone your magic skills faster than other mages—which is why I’m where I am in the ranking of powerful mages. Now, that doesn

The staff was a few feet away from the shaman, and staring at it, Jeremiah realized that he had never seen Obadiah be more than five feet away from his staff, which makes a lot of sense because a tracker-blocking spell has a small area of effect.Obadiah must have created an artifact that has the tracker-blocking spell permanently active so that he doesn’t have to waste time and mana casting the spell himself. As long as he was within the perimeter of the spell's effective range he should be fine because the moment he stepped out of it— accidentally or intentionally— he would be pinpointed by Dark Emblem and they would sure as hell come for him. “It’s those bells on the staff in case you’re wondering,” Obadiah said and Jeremiah’s gaze focused on the jungle bells“Anyway, while concealing myself from their tracking spells, I cast my own spell to hijack their communication channels— which I helped create, hence why I can do it— and I listen for any news on if they have figured out my l

Jeremiah looked at Obadiah and saw how tired the shaman was— making him feel bad because it was the result of trying to help him.“I think we should call it a day for today, teacher,” Jeremiah said.Obadiah exhaled and looked at Jeremiah— feeling lightheaded and a little dizzy. “I think you’re right, young master. I’m completely spent and need to rest” Obadiah said then lowered his head and chuckled. “Looks like I didn’t follow your advice and ended up overexerting myself”Looking at the shaman more intently, Jeremiah groaned.“Are you sure you’re going to be okay, really?” He asked— slight worry in his tone.Obadiah looked at Jeremiah with a confused grimace and asked “What do you mean, young master?” “Last time you looked this tired, it took a couple of days for your body to return to normal. I’m just a little worried that I’ve caused you to regress to that state once again” Jeremiah said, a concerned look on his face.Obadiah’s eyes blinked multiple times.Yes, he knew that Jerem

Jeremiah met up with Obadiah at the greenhouse— the usual location for magic affairs— and they started his training program. The shaman started off with the basis— what was magic and how to turn mana into it.The explanation was very in-depth and thanks to Jeremiah being very intelligent, he was able to understand concepts he was just hearing for the first time. That made Obadiah happy because it meant that he would be able to teach Jeremiah a lot of things by the end of the day.Next, the shaman taught Jeremiah how to control his mana as that was the first step to performing magic. This was the first practical lesson they had so it wasn’t going to be as easy as the theoretical lesson. It took Jeremiah a couple of hours trying to get it down, but in the end he was able to successfully get his mana control down and now was ready to start doing magic.“You did great, young master” Obadiah said with a proud smile.“It’s all thanks to you, teacher” Jeremiah replied.“Now it’s time to te

Jeremiah looked around for a pebble he could use to do the Imprint spell and soon enough he found one.It was the same size and nearly the same shape as the one Obadiah had used in his earlier example— which he had purposely chosen because he didn’t want an excuse for why he failed the spell to be because of something as silly as the build of the pebble. He walked over to where it was and picked it up.Seeing the pebble from the distance, Obadiah said “That’s a good one, young master.”“Thank you, teacher” Jeremiah smirked and then returned to where he used to stand— at which time Obadiah had already found another pebble to use and teach Jeremiah the spell properly.“Do you remember the spell I used to make the imprint, young master?” Obadiah asked. Jeremiah shook his head.“Sorry, teacher. I was confused about what you were doing so I didn’t pay attention until it was too late. Please show me again” He said bashfully.Obadiah smiled.“It’s fine, young master. That’s what I’m here fo

Obadiah couldn’t believe what he had just witnessed.Did Jeremiah really just cast a spell without reciting the words? Which in the world of magic was known as a wordless spell. For years, mages had made fun of movies, shows, and books for inventing the idea of wordless spells because to them it was impossible to achieve the feeling necessary for casting a particular spell without reciting first the words. It was as if a mage’s body—capable of performing a feat as inconceivable as magic—was still limited by the need for words to activate it.So, for Jeremiah, a complete novice, to be able to accomplish what every other mage in the history of mankind couldn’t made Obadiah feel like it was a dream."Obadiah quickly walked up to Jeremiah to get a closer look while the young master went down to pick up the pebble he had just imprinted on. Do it again, young master," Obadiah said, wanting Jeremiah to drop the pebble once more so he could see up close whether the spell had truly worked or

“Crimson is in Bakers View?” One of the silhouettes, colored orange said and the others turned to it. “That’s very interesting. Tell us how your encounter went down” The other silhouettes returned their gaze to Grey and waited to hear the story he was going to give— a tale that was very important because it involved their organization’s greatest enemy. Grey went ahead to give the details of how he encountered Jeremiah— doing so in a succinct manner. From their meet-up at the auction house to their altercation behind the Mercury Jewels Jewelry store after Jeremiah had figured out his identity. Every detail gave them a better understanding of who they were messing with. “So there was a relic out there that could counteract your mind control and illusion spells,” said the black silhouette. “That’s insane, considering the fact that you are the most powerful member of Dark Emblem when it comes to mind control and most especially illusion spells,” said the white silhouette. Gre

Grey drove all the way to a very expensive hotel somewhere in the city. He parked in front of the entrance and the valet stationed there rushed to the car to greet him. However, instead of waiting outside for him to come out, the valet grabbed the driver-door and opened it for him.“Welcome back, Master Grey” the valet greeted, bowing his head with a massive smile on his face. Grey acted like nothing was said to him— his face unbothered and emotionless as turned his body, indicating that he wanted to step out. “My apologies, Master Grey” The valet moved out of the way, giving Grey the space to step out of the car— which he did. “I hope you had a wonderful outing, Master Grey,” the valet said but was ignored as Grey walked past him. But, from how the valet looked, it didn’t seem like Grey’s behavior affected or deterred him from wanting to please the powerful Dark Emblem mage more. The valet faced the interior of the car and had wanted to enter but saw the portrait and box in whic

Meanwhile, back at the Mercury Jewels Jewelry Shop— at the back where Jeremiah and Grey had their confrontation—two of the staff were there, crouching by the wall and smoking a cigar. It was their break and this was what they usually did.“Damn, today was a really good day. So many customers coming in to buy expensive shit and the day isn’t even over yet. At the rate we’re going, I have a feeling we’ll be getting a pay raise soon” said one of the staff.“It probably has something to do with the auction that took place not too long ago. Business usually booms during it but I hope you’re right ‘cause I really need the extra money. My kid is about to go to college and I want to put him in a really good one that will help him have a bright future” said the second staff. “Speaking of your kid, how is he? He doesn’t visit you as much as he used to in the past” the first staff said.“Yeah. He’s at that age where he doesn’t want to hang out with his old dad anymore but he’s a good kid” “Tha

“Alright, Lynette, what’s the catch to this so-called ability of yours?” Jeremiah asked, his tone hitting his fatigue. [“Since it's an automatic death sentence for the person I'm linked to the moment I die, it means their life ends when my current lifecycle ends—and a new one begins with me being reborn as a newborn.”] Lynette replied and Jeremiah groaned. “So you’re saying that if you manage to go through this battle without getting temporarily killed, Dad will remain alive no matter what for the next thirty-nine years which is when your current cycle ends,” Jeremiah said, his tone extremely skeptical.[“That’s right. I’ve linked with only one person in all my lives and thanks to them I know exactly what this ability is capable of and what its limits are. I and the person in question cannot be unlinked once linked. That’s the price they pay for accepting the link and gaining short-term immortality”]This meant that Lynette couldn’t just link with any random person. They had to know

Reginald had to admit that Jeremiah made a lot of sense with what he had said. Things were very dangerous with Dark Emblem knowing Jeremiah’s whereabouts and were going to attack him at any moment. Reginald was already someone they wanted dead— although he wasn’t a priority like Jeremiah and Obadiah were— so it would basically be the same as putting him on a silver platter if he was anywhere near Jeremiah whenever Dark Emblem decided to attack. They would definitely kill him first if the opportunity presented itself. Or worst-case scenario, they would try to use him as a hostage and make Jeremiah unable to attack as strongly as he would have. Granted, the likelihood Dark Emblem does that is very low because they didn’t have a good impression of Lord Crimson and thought he didn’t care about any human being enough for them to work as a hostage against him. However, the fact that Jeremiah risked his life to save everyone at the welcome ceremony, made things different and that narrat
CHAPTER 303
Jeremiah went ahead to tell Reginald, Kingston, and Lynette what happened— the same as he did with Obadiah, shocking them with each detail he gave, and when he was done, they went silent for an extended period before regaining their composure.[“I didn’t think you would be discovered this quickly after moving back to Bakers View, son”] Reginald said and then groaned—pondering what to say next. [“However, now that the cat is out of the bag and they are coming for you, we have no choice but to look for a way forward. With that said, what’s your plan?”] “My plan, huh? Well, it’s very simple. To fight!” Jeremiah said, resolve echoing from his eyes. Reginald chuckled lightly.[“I wouldn’t have expected anything different. In that case, you will be needing help if you hope to survive this. I’m assuming you’ve decided to have Bakers View as the battleground”]“Yes, I do. This is my hometown, where those Dark Emblem assholes caused my mother to get into an accident that put her in a coma w

Jeremiah returned the relic to where he got it from and without wasting any second, he took out his phone from his pocket and called Kingston. After a few seconds, the call was answered. [“Young Master, Jeremiah”] Kingston greeted. “Good afternoon, Kingston,” Jeremiah replied.[“Good afternoon young master. How is your—?”] Kingston said but Jeremiah cut him off.“Before you ask any questions, I want to know if you’re anywhere close to my father,” Jeremiah asked, the urgency in his voice eliciting intrigue in the butler.[“Unfortunately, I’m not in Master Reginald’s presence but he is in the estate”]“That’s good. Now, I want you to go find my father and put me on speaker phone cause there’s something I want to tell the two of you—“ Jeremiah said but was interrupted. [“Is that Jeremiah?”] Lynette asked excitedly. [“Yes, Lady Lynette. It is”] Kingston replied and Jeremiah groaned.[“Great! I’ve been dying to talk to him so give me the phone!”] Lynette instructed, her hand already
CHAPTER 301
Jeremiah walked around the store in a soured mood, arrived at the front, and got on his motorcycle. He drove back home, all the while thinking about Grey Lucian, who was someplace he couldn’t find, and the fact that he couldn’t tell if Grey was watching him as he went back to the estate pissed him off. Anyone else would have been in a constant state of fear and worry but not Jeremiah. He believed in his capabilities as a dragon and mage and that he was able to have a calm mind. Plus, he knew that it would take some time for the members of Dark Emblem to be ready enough to attack him so in that meantime he was safe. The future, however, was a different story. For the moment, Jeremiah’s concern was on the issue of the tracking spell Grey had put on him. From the looks of it, Grey might have either been telling the truth or lying through his teeth because no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t sense the magic of the spell on him. Even if he could sense the mana, it would only mean

Jeremiah’s face twitched after hearing Andrews call him his other name. “So you know about my real identity too. That’s interesting” Jeremiah scoffed then did a scan of the other people standing and watching him and Andrews. “That’s a neat trick. Unfortunately, your illusions don’t work on me— not anymore anyway— so it would be better if you just deactivate it and stop wasting mana” Jeremiah said. Andrews looked at the other people on the premises, who smiled at him and Jeremiah, groaned and said “I wonder what changed to make my magic no longer work on you. Is it perhaps that box you won from the auction because it would make sense why you were so interested in it.” Andrews chuckled, returned his gaze to Jeremiah, and continued, “It’s a shame I didn’t see how valuable it was to bid for it. But even if I had, you would have outbid me, wouldn’t you?” Andrews deactivated his illusion magic and everyone on the premises, beside him and Jeremiah, disappeared. “…” Jeremiah refraine
