The event in question was the matriculation ceremony for the first-year students of the college and at the bottom of the Arena were the first-year students all wearing their matriculation gowns.

The announcer/host took the stage and welcomed the important members of the faculty like the chancellor, vice chancellor, professors, and some lecturers.

On one side of the Arena were members of the Student Union and the announcer greeted them too— giving a special shout-out to the Student Union President who was celebrated for being the best president so far.

Once he had greeted everyone he wanted to from the school, the announcer gestured in the direction of the ultra VIP section where Jeremiah was and he said “Everyone, please give a round of applause for the future King of Crimson Fall, Master Jeremiah Garrick!”

Immediately, everyone faced the ultra VIP section with widened eyes and looks of utter shock.

They couldn’t believe what they had just heard. The future king of Crimson Fall? J

“Good day everyone,” Jeremiah said and the entire arena went silent.Everyone paid attention to what he was about to say to them. “All I see are handsome and beautiful young people striving for academic excellence and bright futures. Though it’s been a couple of years since I was in the same position as the rest of you, in a way giving me the experience and wisdom to make this speech, I want you all to know that with dedication, perseverance, and hard work you will all make it through and forge the future you desire and deserve. I’ve watched the entire ceremony, seen what you’ve all done and all I can say is how honored I am to be in the presence of each and every one of you. Good luck with whatever paths you’ve decided to forgo and I pray God sees you through. As for the academic staff, you all should be proud of yourselves for raising such wonderful students. And finally, the student Union, all I have to say is that you’ve done well as this celebration wouldn’t have been half as su

“A party?!” Lynette’s face lit up. “What’s this about a party?”Jeremiah shrugged then he covered the mouthpiece of the phone and said to Lynette “That’s what I’m trying to find out”“Okay, but hurry up. I’d really like to go to a party” Lynette said and Jeremiah sighed.“Sure” He replied as he removed his hand from the mouthpiece and said to Kristin “So what party are you talking about?”[“It’s a party at my sorority. The President wanted to throw a party to celebrate us freshmen and she told us to invite whoever we wanted. Since we already made plans to meet up when you came to my school, I thought that it would be good to kill two birds with one stone and invite you”] Kristin said.Jeremiah looked at Lynette and whispered “It’s a sorority party and I’m being invited”“Oh” Lynette replied then she pondered for a moment and said with a smile “Ask if I can tag along”Jeremiah grimaced, his disapproving expression letting Lynette know that he wasn’t in on the idea.“Please” she pouted.

The four walked into the sorority house and the first thing they saw was a crowd of young people much bigger than the ones outside. Everyone was having fun— typical of a party like that— and as the four walked past them they all took a split-second break from their partying and enthusiastically greeted them. Jeremiah and the others returned their greetings and continued to go deeper into the party. “Come on, young master. Let me introduce you to others in the sorority” Kristin said then led Jeremiah and Lynette to the other sorority members. She introduced the two but instead of revealing who Jeremiah and Lynette were, she said they were her friends from out of town. Because of how old Jeremiah was, his good looks, and how Kristin behaved next to him, the other sorority girls gave her a secret wink whenever she introduced him as her “friend”. They thought that there was more to the relationship than what Kristin was leading towards but they were only half right. The “more

Kirstin and Jeremiah started moving around, looking for the sorority president and asking people if they knew where she was. Unfortunately, most of them shrugged, saying they didn’t know, but then she finally managed to meet someone who told her exactly where the President was.“You’re looking for Rosie? Well, she’s out front” the person said and Kristin grimaced. “Out front? Okay then” Kristin said then the person she asked went back to hanging out with their friends. Kristin turned to Jeremiah who was right beside her.“I guess we missed her while moving around earlier. Shall we?” Kristin gestured they go outside.“Sure, but since we’re already going outside, let’s get Lynette so I can meet the President and then leave from there,” Jeremiah said.“Sounds good to me. Let’s go find her and Brenda so she can say goodbye to you too before you both leave” Kristin said and Jeremiah nodded. The two of them went to find Lynette which was easy because Jeremiah could smell her through all

While they all were in awe, the four at the back were confused. “Young master, you were invited to this party by Sydney too?” Kristin asked, but then saw Jeremiah’s just as confused look.“I didn’t even think you knew her based on your reaction earlier, young master,” Brenda said.Jeremiah frowned and said “That’s because I don’t know her. This is the first time I’m hearing of any invite to this party from that girl. In fact, the first time I heard about this party was when Kristin invited me, and Sydney, as you call her, couldn’t have told someone else from my camp because they would have told me” “Are you saying that Sydney lied about inviting you?”“That’s what it’s pointing to,” Lynette said.“Why would she do that?” Kristin asked.“What else if not to gain Rosie’s favor,” Brenda said and they all looked at her.“What do you mean?” Lynette asked.“Normally, the girl that will be the president of the sorority in the future when she’s a senior is selected years prior when she’s a

Sydney quickly looked at the sorority President and said “Of course not, Rosie. How can you believe the nonsense this idiot just said? That I of all people would lie about something so severe. Of course, I invited master Jeremiah Garrick”Jeremiah frowned at the mention of his name. He really hated being lied on.“Then where is he? The party has been going on for quite some time now and you still haven’t brought him.” Kristin said. “Yeah, Sydney, we’re all waiting. Where is he?” One of the people in the gathering, who still had hope, said. “If he doesn’t come as you said then things are going to start looking bad for you so prove that you aren’t lying!” another said.“Yes, prove it!”The others kept hammering her. “Sydney, what’s going on here?” Rosie asked, a look of disappointment on her face.“Did you really lie about—?” Rosie asked but was interrupted by Sydney’s ringtone.Immediately, Sydney smiled.“You guys want me to prove that I wasn’t lying, right? Well, that’s the future

Don’t finish that statement before they hear you. You don’t know what they will do to you seeing as how aggressive they all are”“Who said that?!” The fake castle guard yelled as he looked at the crowd of party folks.Everyone in the gathering jolted and became nervous. “One of you spoke ill of the master so that person has five seconds to come out here or it’s over for all of—“ the fake castle guard said but was interrupted by the fake Jeremiah.“It’s okay, Bob” Fake Jeremiah said.“But Master” Bob said, an angry look on his face.“We’re here as guest and are meant to enjoy ourselves so don’t be too uptight. I’m sure the person who said whatever you heard didn’t mean anything by it” Fake Jeremiah said, trying to sway the crowd that saw him as an unlikable person. He thought that showing mercy and calming

Meanwhile, Bob got to Kristin and was about to do something to her.“Wait a minute, Bob” fake Jeremiah said and Bob froze.Immediately, everyone looked at the imposter. Meanwhile, the real Jeremiah, who had finally gotten Brenda to stop apologizing to him, had told Lynette to go fetch Steven because he needed him for something and was waiting for their arrival. Once they arrive was when he would finally make his move but until then he was going to wait and watch.“You see that, I’ve stopped my guard” fake Jeremiah said and Rosie sighed with relief.“Thank you so much, master—“ the sorority president said but Fake Jeremiah cut her off.“Oh, don’t thank me. I couldn’t stand to watch a beauty like you begging me so passionately. I had to show mercy” Fake Jeremiah said, peering into Rosie’s shirt and staring at her breasts which were showing because her head was bowed. “I don’t know what to say. But,

“Crimson is in Bakers View?” One of the silhouettes, colored orange said and the others turned to it. “That’s very interesting. Tell us how your encounter went down” The other silhouettes returned their gaze to Grey and waited to hear the story he was going to give— a tale that was very important because it involved their organization’s greatest enemy. Grey went ahead to give the details of how he encountered Jeremiah— doing so in a succinct manner. From their meet-up at the auction house to their altercation behind the Mercury Jewels Jewelry store after Jeremiah had figured out his identity. Every detail gave them a better understanding of who they were messing with. “So there was a relic out there that could counteract your mind control and illusion spells,” said the black silhouette. “That’s insane, considering the fact that you are the most powerful member of Dark Emblem when it comes to mind control and most especially illusion spells,” said the white silhouette. Grey drove all the way to a very expensive hotel somewhere in the city. He parked in front of the entrance and the valet stationed there rushed to the car to greet him. However, instead of waiting outside for him to come out, the valet grabbed the driver-door and opened it for him.“Welcome back, Master Grey” the valet greeted, bowing his head with a massive smile on his face. Grey acted like nothing was said to him— his face unbothered and emotionless as turned his body, indicating that he wanted to step out. “My apologies, Master Grey” The valet moved out of the way, giving Grey the space to step out of the car— which he did. “I hope you had a wonderful outing, Master Grey,” the valet said but was ignored as Grey walked past him. But, from how the valet looked, it didn’t seem like Grey’s behavior affected or deterred him from wanting to please the powerful Dark Emblem mage more. The valet faced the interior of the car and had wanted to enter but saw the portrait and box in whic

Meanwhile, back at the Mercury Jewels Jewelry Shop— at the back where Jeremiah and Grey had their confrontation—two of the staff were there, crouching by the wall and smoking a cigar. It was their break and this was what they usually did.“Damn, today was a really good day. So many customers coming in to buy expensive shit and the day isn’t even over yet. At the rate we’re going, I have a feeling we’ll be getting a pay raise soon” said one of the staff.“It probably has something to do with the auction that took place not too long ago. Business usually booms during it but I hope you’re right ‘cause I really need the extra money. My kid is about to go to college and I want to put him in a really good one that will help him have a bright future” said the second staff. “Speaking of your kid, how is he? He doesn’t visit you as much as he used to in the past” the first staff said.“Yeah. He’s at that age where he doesn’t want to hang out with his old dad anymore but he’s a good kid” “Tha

“Alright, Lynette, what’s the catch to this so-called ability of yours?” Jeremiah asked, his tone hitting his fatigue. [“Since it's an automatic death sentence for the person I'm linked to the moment I die, it means their life ends when my current lifecycle ends—and a new one begins with me being reborn as a newborn.”] Lynette replied and Jeremiah groaned. “So you’re saying that if you manage to go through this battle without getting temporarily killed, Dad will remain alive no matter what for the next thirty-nine years which is when your current cycle ends,” Jeremiah said, his tone extremely skeptical.[“That’s right. I’ve linked with only one person in all my lives and thanks to them I know exactly what this ability is capable of and what its limits are. I and the person in question cannot be unlinked once linked. That’s the price they pay for accepting the link and gaining short-term immortality”]This meant that Lynette couldn’t just link with any random person. They had to know

Reginald had to admit that Jeremiah made a lot of sense with what he had said. Things were very dangerous with Dark Emblem knowing Jeremiah’s whereabouts and were going to attack him at any moment. Reginald was already someone they wanted dead— although he wasn’t a priority like Jeremiah and Obadiah were— so it would basically be the same as putting him on a silver platter if he was anywhere near Jeremiah whenever Dark Emblem decided to attack. They would definitely kill him first if the opportunity presented itself. Or worst-case scenario, they would try to use him as a hostage and make Jeremiah unable to attack as strongly as he would have. Granted, the likelihood Dark Emblem does that is very low because they didn’t have a good impression of Lord Crimson and thought he didn’t care about any human being enough for them to work as a hostage against him. However, the fact that Jeremiah risked his life to save everyone at the welcome ceremony, made things different and that narrat

Jeremiah went ahead to tell Reginald, Kingston, and Lynette what happened— the same as he did with Obadiah, shocking them with each detail he gave, and when he was done, they went silent for an extended period before regaining their composure.[“I didn’t think you would be discovered this quickly after moving back to Bakers View, son”] Reginald said and then groaned—pondering what to say next. [“However, now that the cat is out of the bag and they are coming for you, we have no choice but to look for a way forward. With that said, what’s your plan?”] “My plan, huh? Well, it’s very simple. To fight!” Jeremiah said, resolve echoing from his eyes. Reginald chuckled lightly.[“I wouldn’t have expected anything different. In that case, you will be needing help if you hope to survive this. I’m assuming you’ve decided to have Bakers View as the battleground”]“Yes, I do. This is my hometown, where those Dark Emblem assholes caused my mother to get into an accident that put her in a coma w

Jeremiah returned the relic to where he got it from and without wasting any second, he took out his phone from his pocket and called Kingston. After a few seconds, the call was answered. [“Young Master, Jeremiah”] Kingston greeted. “Good afternoon, Kingston,” Jeremiah replied.[“Good afternoon young master. How is your—?”] Kingston said but Jeremiah cut him off.“Before you ask any questions, I want to know if you’re anywhere close to my father,” Jeremiah asked, the urgency in his voice eliciting intrigue in the butler.[“Unfortunately, I’m not in Master Reginald’s presence but he is in the estate”]“That’s good. Now, I want you to go find my father and put me on speaker phone cause there’s something I want to tell the two of you—“ Jeremiah said but was interrupted. [“Is that Jeremiah?”] Lynette asked excitedly. [“Yes, Lady Lynette. It is”] Kingston replied and Jeremiah groaned.[“Great! I’ve been dying to talk to him so give me the phone!”] Lynette instructed, her hand already

Jeremiah walked around the store in a soured mood, arrived at the front, and got on his motorcycle. He drove back home, all the while thinking about Grey Lucian, who was someplace he couldn’t find, and the fact that he couldn’t tell if Grey was watching him as he went back to the estate pissed him off. Anyone else would have been in a constant state of fear and worry but not Jeremiah. He believed in his capabilities as a dragon and mage and that he was able to have a calm mind. Plus, he knew that it would take some time for the members of Dark Emblem to be ready enough to attack him so in that meantime he was safe. The future, however, was a different story. For the moment, Jeremiah’s concern was on the issue of the tracking spell Grey had put on him. From the looks of it, Grey might have either been telling the truth or lying through his teeth because no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t sense the magic of the spell on him. Even if he could sense the mana, it would only mean

Jeremiah’s face twitched after hearing Andrews call him his other name. “So you know about my real identity too. That’s interesting” Jeremiah scoffed then did a scan of the other people standing and watching him and Andrews. “That’s a neat trick. Unfortunately, your illusions don’t work on me— not anymore anyway— so it would be better if you just deactivate it and stop wasting mana” Jeremiah said. Andrews looked at the other people on the premises, who smiled at him and Jeremiah, groaned and said “I wonder what changed to make my magic no longer work on you. Is it perhaps that box you won from the auction because it would make sense why you were so interested in it.” Andrews chuckled, returned his gaze to Jeremiah, and continued, “It’s a shame I didn’t see how valuable it was to bid for it. But even if I had, you would have outbid me, wouldn’t you?” Andrews deactivated his illusion magic and everyone on the premises, beside him and Jeremiah, disappeared. “…” Jeremiah refraine
