Without hiding a single detail, because he wasn’t David’s friend and as such had no reason to protect him, Jeremiah told Reginald everything that happened downstairs.

From the altercation with Benson caused by his disgusting behavior toward Lynette to David’s disgraceful response to the whole incident, Jeremiah spilled everything to Reginald.

Each time something about him was said, David felt like the ground should just open up and swallow him as the disappointed glances he got from Reginald made him want to disappear.

He felt guilty, ashamed, and humiliated.

“I believe that the way the servants are punished needs to be reevaluated. It can be too harsh, and something has to change,” Jeremiah said firmly.

Reginald, who never expected to hear of any of that that late in the afternoon, groaned.

To think that the second conversation he would have with Jeremiah on the same day of meeting him was going to be about his concerns for the wellbeing of the servants.

Jeremiah and David left the study and once they were gone, Reginald and Kingston continued the conversation they were having before the interruption happened. “So, what did the Shaman say after reaching out to him?” Reginald asked. The Shaman from when Jeremiah’s mother, Lauretta, was pregnant had called Reginald not so long ago, but because he was busy at the time he had missed it.When Reginald eventually saw the missed call, he tried calling back but the Shaman didn’t answer.Knowing that the Shaman wouldn’t be calling without a good reason, especially considering the fact that it was on the same day he was reuniting with his long-lost son, Reginald made sure that he got in contact with the Shaman no matter what.He tasked Kingston with calling the Shaman’s number at regular intervals until he eventually answered and that’s exactly what happened.“He said that there is a possibility, although tiny, that Dark Emblem would attack tonight at the welcoming celebration for Young Master

Just then, he remembered that he had sent the guards to take all of them to one room and prevent them from leaving until he said otherwise or it was time for them to go home.“So this isn’t a prank” Jeremiah said skeptically.“Prank? Why would I prank my older cousin?” David said and then chuckled.Jeremiah furrowed his eyebrows as he looked at his cousin suspiciously.Jeremiah wasn’t a fool, he knew a fake laugh and smile when he saw one. After what happened with Mary and all the times she pretended to be a loving wife to him, Jeremiah had learned his lesson and wasn’t going to fall for another person’s deception ever again and that included David. “I don’t know. I don’t see why you would be thanking me for what happened” Jeremiah said and David smiled.“That’s because I agree with you and uncle. What I did, or in this case tried to do to that blonde maid as punishment, was a little too much. If you hadn’t stopped me, I know I would have regretted it later” David said and Jeremiah,

“Condition? What condition?” David asked. Jeremiah knew that there had to be a reason why David wanted his friends free during the welcome ceremony, so he was going to test out how high David’s desperation was. The more desperate David was, the more serious the reason had to be. “Your friends would have to take up roles among the staff that will work in the ceremony,” Jeremiah said. “What?!” David exclaimed, his eyes widened. “That’s right. The only way I’d agree to let your friends out of that room after what they did is if they agree to be a part of the ceremony’s staff.” Jeremiah said and David, who was surprised that that was his condition, blinked multiple times in a second. “B-but why do you want that? I’m sure there are already so many servants and hired staff who would be working in the ceremony, so why do you want my friends to also be a part of it?” David asked and Jeremiah groaned. Deep within Jeremiah’s mind, he thought ‘Normally, you would have disregarded the id

“My phone? What for?” David asked and Jeremiah sighed exasperatedly. “Don’t ask me irrelevant questions and just do it” Jeremiah said, his hand gesturing that David should hurry up. “Okay,” David replied skeptically then he reached into his pocket and took out the phone.“Good, now look for the voice recorder app and open it” Jeremiah instructed and David nodded.“Okay, I’ve done that. Now what?” David asked once he had opened the voice recorder app like Jeremiah told him to.Jeremiah gestured that he should give the phone to him and David did so hesitantly. It was clear by his responses since Jeremiah mentioned his phone that he was very attached to it.The reason could be because the punishment he got from Reginald was that everything he used to have access to was now limited and, as a result, his phone, which was one of the few possessions he was allowed to keep, seemed many times more valuable now.He didn’t want Jeremiah to do something that would damage the phone by accident o

“Outfit for the welcome party? She means a change of clothes?” Jeremiah grimaced then looked down at what he was wearing and groaned. He looked at the full-body mirror on the wall beside him and stared at his reflection, realizing that what he was to attend was a party meant for the high class and he was going to be the center of attention. Because of that, the outfit he had bought from the High Fashion Emporium wasn’t going to suffice, especially after he had slept in it and caused the fabric to get rumpled and a little stained. He had also sweated in it during his tour of the estate and that sweat had now begun to smell a little. Everything made the outfit not be in a condition appropriate for the welcome ceremony and Lynette bringing a change of clothes for him made a lot of sense. “I’ll be right there,” Jeremiah said then left the window and walked to the door. He opened the door and stared at Lynette. Immediately, his attention was drawn to the outfit she came with. “T

“Are you asking me, young master?” She asked, pointing at her chest. “Yes. I mean, who else would be I talking to? It’s just you and I in this room” Jeremiah replied. The maid chuckled bashfully. “Sorry about that, young master. I was just surprised is all” Without meaning to, she started thinking about what Jeremiah’s life must have been like that at twenty-five years old he didn’t know what to expect from a ceremony like the one happening currently when he was a prince. Shouting he have a lot of experience? She thought.“No problem. Anyway, do you have the tips or what?” Jeremiah asked and Lynette nodded. She gave him all the tips she could think of on how to behave and what to expect during the welcome ceremony and Jeremiah thanked her. After that, Jeremiah looked at Lynette from head to toe and the maid became nervous.“Young master?” She asked, wondering why he was checking her out like that.“Is this what you’re going to wear to the welcome ceremony?” He asked and the maid

“You’ll be attending the welcome ceremony with me,” Jeremiah said boldly, and Lynette’s eyes widened. “Y-you w-want me to what?” Lynette stuttered, her face adorned with disbelief. “I said you’ll be attending the welcome ceremony with me.” Jeremiah said, and then noticed her strange reaction. “What? Is there anything wrong with what I said?”Lynette shook her head vigorously.“No, there isn’t anything wrong, Young Master. It’s just that…” She said, then paused when she saw the look Jeremiah was giving her.It was one of confusion, and, most importantly, concern. She instantly became bashful and blushed.“It’s just what? Don’t be shy, tell me” said Jeremiah in a soft tone as he stepped closer, his demeanor reassuring her that he wouldn’t be offended if she wanted to refuse his offer.“It’s just that I’m a maid and you’re… well, you”“Okay? And?” He asked, still not understanding her problem with what he said.“And you want me to be your plus one at an important event where the king a

“Please don’t be offended, young master, but I think you should—“ Lynette said with her head down, as she couldn’t look him in the eyes, but Jeremiah placed his hand on her shoulder.Lynette jolted and then raised her head to look at Jeremiah, only to see his warm smile.“Whether you’re a maid, and I’m a royal, none of that matters to me,” Jeremiah said, and the maid’s eyes widened.“It doesn’t?” She asked.“That’s right. Status, class, and money aren’t things I look at when associating with people, as I’ve seen rich and affluent people who are terrible and low-class people who are the best in the world. At the end of the day, it’s who you are deep down that matters” Jeremiah said.He was speaking from experience as growing up the way he did made him appreciate other things more.To him, it didn’t matter that Lynette was a maid because she was a beautiful person both outside and inside, so he would happily go to the welcome ceremony with her.If his father didn’t have a problem marryi

“Good morning, Kingston. I’m at the High Fashion Emporium, the clothing store we went to the day we traveled home to meet my father” Jeremiah said.[“Oh! Page had told me not long ago that you just moved into the Grand Blue estate, so I guess you’re already preparing to fill your closet”] Kingston had told Jeremiah to take the clothes he was given in the castle back to Bakers View so he wouldn’t have to waste time doing a shopping run. However, Jeremiah refused to do so because he didn’t want anything that would remind him of who he was. After all, he was trying his best to distance himself from his past as Lord Crimson—until his memories of the past finally returned.“That’s right,” Jeremiah replied. Kingston took a deep breath and sighed. [“So what can I help you with, young master?”] said Kingston, who knew that Jeremiah was only calling to ask for assistance, which he had no problem with as he was always ready and happy to serve. “Do you remember that I was given a special acc

Jeremiah went straight for his bedroom where he collected his thoughts, coming up with things he needed now that he had returned to Bakers View. Then, after making a mental list of everything, he left the house, went outside the fence where his motorcycle was still parked, got on it, and drove into town. His first stop for the day was getting clothes for his massive closet, so he drove all the way to the one clothing store he both had experience with and liked how their clothes were. He went to The High Fashion Emporium. He parked in front of the store, got off the motorcycle, and walked towards the entrance. The last time he was there, the convoy of luxurious cars he arrived in drew a lot of unwanted attention from bystanders, and the entourage of security guards that surrounded him and Kingston as they exited the cars didn’t help. Now, with just him and his motorcycle arriving at the store and walking through the entrance, nobody paid him any attention. He was basically inv

  • CHAPTER 256

As Jeremiah and Page drove through the estate, Jeremiah got the opportunity to have a good look at the houses and it would have been an understatement to say that he was impressed by what he saw. He expected nothing less from an estate owned by his family. Very soon, he saw Page’s jeep’s taillight indicating that she was about to go left. Seeing as how there was no junction or intersection in sight, Jeremiah realized that she was about to park.Jeremiah did the same. He turned on his motorcycle’s left blinker and followed Page to park in front of a massive house that was surrounded by a fence— just like all the other houses in the estate.Security was a pivotal part of the estate’s appeal, so every house in it had a gated fence that acted as a second layer of security in case someone managed to go through Desmond and his partner at the entrance gate. That, however, had never happened since the creation of the estate, but it didn’t hurt to be cautious.Page turned off her car’s engin

He got a good look at the woman and thought that she was nice-looking and on the older side, which wasn’t what he expected because she had a youthful voice over the phone.“I guess you were telling the truth,” the older security officer said. Jeremiah looked at the man in uniform and with a cocky smile replied “What? You thought I was lying to you earlier?”“My apologies. I was only doing my job. You can never be too careful about these things” The older security officer lowered his head slightly as he apologized. “It’s fine. I too would have done the same. Anyway…” Jeremiah looked at the Jeep

Both of them entered the office and did all the paperwork to turn Jeremiah into the owner of a new motorcycle and after a couple of minutes, they were done.“It was nice doing business with you, sir” the sales rep shook Jeremiah’s hand over the desk. “Thank you” Jeremiah smirked. “Shall we go get your motorcycle?” The sales rep asked and Jeremiah nodded. Both of them stood up, left the office, and went to where the motorcycle was.Jeremiah got on it, wore the helmet, and drove out of the shop. For safety reasons, the motorcycle only had a small amount of fuel in the tank so Jeremiah had to make a stop at the gas station before continuing his tasks for the day. He filled the tank to the max and then went to his next destination which was looking for a house like he promised Mary he would a couple of weeks ago. After telling his father a couple of weeks ago that he would be returning to Bakers View, Jeremiah was informed that their family owned an estate in the city with many beaut

The taxi took Jeremiah to the motorcycle shop which was eighteen minutes away from Maple Hotel and parked on the opposite side of the street.Jeremiah came out and walked to the driver’s side door. He paid the fare the same way he paid last night’s fare— by Apple Pay— and he returned his phone to his pocket.“Tell them, Mark, the taxi driver sent you and they should hook you up with a really good deal,” the driver said. “Thanks. I’ll do that” Jeremiah replied as he crossed the street while the taxi drove away. Since he could hear extremely well, he didn’t need to look at incoming traffic to know when it was safe to walk past the street. Because of that, the people who saw him thought he was being careless. If only they knew the truth.Jeremiah got to the front of the shop and looked at the name on the sign.“Light speed engines” he read and chuckled at how nice the name was.Hoping to get a wonderful motorcycle from them, Jeremiah walked into the shop and saw all the beautiful moto

After a few minutes of freshening up, Jeremiah came out of the bathroom, looking clean and great as always. There was already a towel waiting to be used in the shower so he obliged himself and used it to dry up. Then, he wore the pristine white Maple Hotel robe that was next to the towel on the hanger and he came out of the bathroom. Sadly, the one thing he needed that wasn’t present in the bathroom or room was underwear as it would be considered inappropriate if the hotel provided it for the guests. That meant Jeremiah, who didn’t want to be butt naked had to repeat the underwear he wore throughout the day. Fortunately, the cleanliness of the underwear wasn’t a problem because there was a handy spell he learned from Obadiah that was meant to clean fabric. The spell was the shaman’s favorite spell as since he roamed around the world trying to prevent Dark Emblem from finding him, he couldn’t carry much luggage besides the necessary. This made him have limited options when it c

James was the guide they called when a very special person was lodging a room in the hotel so he understood the assignment perfectly which was to make Jeremiah as comfortable as possible They both walked to the elevator and James pressed the button to make the door open on the floor they were on but just as they started to wait, Jeremiah said:“If you don’t mind, can we use the stairs instead of the elevator?” James looked at the young master and furrowed his eyebrows.“Why, sir? Do you have an issue with elevators?” The guide asked as he had never once heard of a situation where a guest wanted to take the stairs instead of the elevator.Jeremiah shrugged and replied “Not an issue per se but using an elevator makes me nauseous. If possible, I would like to avoid that” Jeremiah had always been nauseous when using an elevator so he always avoided it. However, since he got his powers back at Crimson Fall, he hadn’t been in one. As such, he didn’t know if he would get nauseous still or

After a couple of minutes of smooth driving, the taxi finally arrived at the destination. The driver parked in front of the entrance of the hotel and looked at Jeremiah in the back seat.“Welcome to Maple Hotel, sir. It has everything a fine gentleman like yourself could ever want. It’s a little bit on the pricy side but being a good judge of people I have a feeling the price wouldn’t be a problem for you” the driver smiled. Jeremiah looked at the hotel and groaned.“You like it, don’t you? Trust me, I know what you’ll enjoy so please check it out,” the driver said. “Thanks for the ride and helping me decide which hotel to stay in,” Jeremiah said and the driver grinned proudly. Jeremiah came out of the car, walked to the front passenger side, and pushed his upper body through the open window.“You use Apple Pay, right?” He asked as he took out his phone from his pocket.“Of course, sir” the driver replied. He reached for his phone and set up the price while Jeremiah entered his Ap
