Without hiding a single detail, because he wasn’t David’s friend and as such had no reason to protect him, Jeremiah told Reginald everything that happened downstairs.

From the altercation with Benson caused by his disgusting behavior toward Lynette to David’s disgraceful response to the whole incident, Jeremiah spilled everything to Reginald.

Each time something about him was said, David felt like the ground should just open up and swallow him as the disappointed glances he got from Reginald made him want to disappear.

He felt guilty, ashamed, and humiliated.

“I believe that the way the servants are punished needs to be reevaluated. It can be too harsh, and something has to change,” Jeremiah said firmly.

Reginald, who never expected to hear of any of that that late in the afternoon, groaned.

To think that the second conversation he would have with Jeremiah on the same day of meeting him was going to be about his concerns for the wellbeing of the servants.
