Just then, he remembered that he had sent the guards to take all of them to one room and prevent them from leaving until he said otherwise or it was time for them to go home.

“So this isn’t a prank” Jeremiah said skeptically.

“Prank? Why would I prank my older cousin?” David said and then chuckled.

Jeremiah furrowed his eyebrows as he looked at his cousin suspiciously.

Jeremiah wasn’t a fool, he knew a fake laugh and smile when he saw one.

After what happened with Mary and all the times she pretended to be a loving wife to him, Jeremiah had learned his lesson and wasn’t going to fall for another person’s deception ever again and that included David.

“I don’t know. I don’t see why you would be thanking me for what happened” Jeremiah said and David smiled.

“That’s because I agree with you and uncle. What I did, or in this case tried to do to that blonde maid as punishment, was a little too much. If you hadn’t stopped me, I know I would have regretted it later” David said and Jeremiah,

“Condition? What condition?” David asked. Jeremiah knew that there had to be a reason why David wanted his friends free during the welcome ceremony, so he was going to test out how high David’s desperation was. The more desperate David was, the more serious the reason had to be. “Your friends would have to take up roles among the staff that will work in the ceremony,” Jeremiah said. “What?!” David exclaimed, his eyes widened. “That’s right. The only way I’d agree to let your friends out of that room after what they did is if they agree to be a part of the ceremony’s staff.” Jeremiah said and David, who was surprised that that was his condition, blinked multiple times in a second. “B-but why do you want that? I’m sure there are already so many servants and hired staff who would be working in the ceremony, so why do you want my friends to also be a part of it?” David asked and Jeremiah groaned. Deep within Jeremiah’s mind, he thought ‘Normally, you would have disregarded the id

“My phone? What for?” David asked and Jeremiah sighed exasperatedly. “Don’t ask me irrelevant questions and just do it” Jeremiah said, his hand gesturing that David should hurry up. “Okay,” David replied skeptically then he reached into his pocket and took out the phone.“Good, now look for the voice recorder app and open it” Jeremiah instructed and David nodded.“Okay, I’ve done that. Now what?” David asked once he had opened the voice recorder app like Jeremiah told him to.Jeremiah gestured that he should give the phone to him and David did so hesitantly. It was clear by his responses since Jeremiah mentioned his phone that he was very attached to it.The reason could be because the punishment he got from Reginald was that everything he used to have access to was now limited and, as a result, his phone, which was one of the few possessions he was allowed to keep, seemed many times more valuable now.He didn’t want Jeremiah to do something that would damage the phone by accident o

“Outfit for the welcome party? She means a change of clothes?” Jeremiah grimaced then looked down at what he was wearing and groaned. He looked at the full-body mirror on the wall beside him and stared at his reflection, realizing that what he was to attend was a party meant for the high class and he was going to be the center of attention. Because of that, the outfit he had bought from the High Fashion Emporium wasn’t going to suffice, especially after he had slept in it and caused the fabric to get rumpled and a little stained. He had also sweated in it during his tour of the estate and that sweat had now begun to smell a little. Everything made the outfit not be in a condition appropriate for the welcome ceremony and Lynette bringing a change of clothes for him made a lot of sense. “I’ll be right there,” Jeremiah said then left the window and walked to the door. He opened the door and stared at Lynette. Immediately, his attention was drawn to the outfit she came with. “T

“Are you asking me, young master?” She asked, pointing at her chest. “Yes. I mean, who else would be I talking to? It’s just you and I in this room” Jeremiah replied. The maid chuckled bashfully. “Sorry about that, young master. I was just surprised is all” Without meaning to, she started thinking about what Jeremiah’s life must have been like that at twenty-five years old he didn’t know what to expect from a ceremony like the one happening currently when he was a prince. Shouting he have a lot of experience? She thought.“No problem. Anyway, do you have the tips or what?” Jeremiah asked and Lynette nodded. She gave him all the tips she could think of on how to behave and what to expect during the welcome ceremony and Jeremiah thanked her. After that, Jeremiah looked at Lynette from head to toe and the maid became nervous.“Young master?” She asked, wondering why he was checking her out like that.“Is this what you’re going to wear to the welcome ceremony?” He asked and the maid

“You’ll be attending the welcome ceremony with me,” Jeremiah said boldly, and Lynette’s eyes widened. “Y-you w-want me to what?” Lynette stuttered, her face adorned with disbelief. “I said you’ll be attending the welcome ceremony with me.” Jeremiah said, and then noticed her strange reaction. “What? Is there anything wrong with what I said?”Lynette shook her head vigorously.“No, there isn’t anything wrong, Young Master. It’s just that…” She said, then paused when she saw the look Jeremiah was giving her.It was one of confusion, and, most importantly, concern. She instantly became bashful and blushed.“It’s just what? Don’t be shy, tell me” said Jeremiah in a soft tone as he stepped closer, his demeanor reassuring her that he wouldn’t be offended if she wanted to refuse his offer.“It’s just that I’m a maid and you’re… well, you”“Okay? And?” He asked, still not understanding her problem with what he said.“And you want me to be your plus one at an important event where the king a

“Please don’t be offended, young master, but I think you should—“ Lynette said with her head down, as she couldn’t look him in the eyes, but Jeremiah placed his hand on her shoulder.Lynette jolted and then raised her head to look at Jeremiah, only to see his warm smile.“Whether you’re a maid, and I’m a royal, none of that matters to me,” Jeremiah said, and the maid’s eyes widened.“It doesn’t?” She asked.“That’s right. Status, class, and money aren’t things I look at when associating with people, as I’ve seen rich and affluent people who are terrible and low-class people who are the best in the world. At the end of the day, it’s who you are deep down that matters” Jeremiah said.He was speaking from experience as growing up the way he did made him appreciate other things more.To him, it didn’t matter that Lynette was a maid because she was a beautiful person both outside and inside, so he would happily go to the welcome ceremony with her.If his father didn’t have a problem marryi

Jeremiah and Lynette went to the maid’s quarters which was a section of the castle that the maids stay in.“This is my room, young master,” Lynette said as they stood in front of her room door.“Okay,” Jeremiah replied then Lynette turned to the door and knocked, making Jeremiah groan in confusion. He wondered why she didn’t just open the door since she said that it was her room. Why did she knock?Well, he found out why soon enough. “I’m coming!” Said someone inside the room and while Lynette recognized who had spoken by their voice, Jeremiah had one thought in mind.‘So she has a roommate’ he thought. For some reason, he had thought that the room was hers alone, but after thinking about it for a moment, he realized that of course, she had a roommate. Why would a maid stay by herself when there were so many maids in the estate? There wouldn’t be enough rooms for all of them if that was the case.A second later, the door was opened and both of them saw who opened it. It was Joyce.“

Curious to know more, they all rushed to Lynette and gathered around her again.“Am I dreaming or something? A maid is actually going to be the Young Master’s plus one? Somebody punch me 'cause this can’t be real” one of the maids, who climbed Lynette’s bed, said. They all started asking Lynette a bunch of questions like what led to Jeremiah asking her to be his plus one at the welcome ceremony. How did he ask her to be his plus one and how did she feel when he asked her?A lot of questions flew from the other maids’ mouths except Joyce's, who quietly watched Lynette check if the gown she had brought out of her wardrobe was good enough to wear to the welcome ceremony as Jeremiah’s plus one. The questions and noise became too much and Joyce smacked her tongue.“Everyone keep quiet!” Joyce yelled and all the maids froze. They all looked at her, wondering why she just yelled. Joyce looked at the dress Lynette was holding.“Give me that!” She said sternly as she grabbed the gown and pul

Just like with Daniel back at the house a couple of days ago, Jeremiah told Victoria all about his family and she got increasingly shocked the more information he conveyed. And just like with Daniel, he omitted anything that had to do with the fact that he was not from this world but a Dragon that reincarnated. With her eyes widened, Victoria just sat there, having no idea she had been quiet for a full thirty seconds since Jeremiah stopped talking. “Aren’t you going to say anything?” He asked, snapping Victoria back to her senses.“I’m sorry, I was just taken aback for a moment but I’m fine now. I can’t believe I’m sitting at the same table and having a date with the future king of Crimson Fall. This is insane” she said, unsure whether she should smile or be nervous, but leaning towards nervousness. Jeremiah chuckled.“You don’t have to be nervous around me, you know that right? It’s not like I changed into an all-new person. I’m still the same Jeremiah who you used to get coffee fr

The dining hall was themed like the ocean and with the blue ambiance of the entire room, Victoria’s red dress popped and became the center of attention. All four walls of the dining hall had transformed into a display of the deep blue sea, showcasing different fish life like a big aquarium. Just like the cold they had felt when the elevator changed into a space-themed interior, the dining hall had a salty and fresh smell to it that made the whole thing more believable.Like that wasn’t crazy enough, swimming through the open space of the dining hall were holographic fishes and the beautiful in design perfect in scale. "Jeremiah, look at that!" Victoria said as she pointed at one of the holographic fishes that was her favorite aquatic life.Jeremiah grimaced, looking impressed by the fish which was one he had never seen before."Wow, this is amazing!" Victoria smiled, completely mesmerized by the showcase and before she could feed her eyes to her heart's content, Presley spoke out."Y

Is this some kind of sick joke or something?” Presley looked at him with surprise.“Oh, Mister Wellings didn’t tell you about this? I’m terribly sorry, sir. Since you took his place to be here, I thought you would have been informed about the workings of the dining hall but you weren’t. It’s my fault for not being proactive enough and asking what you knew before taking you here because it looks like we’re up to no good” Presley said. “The workings of the dining hall? What does that mean?” Jeremiah asked, managing his annoyance.“Well, Chandler over there is an architect as you heard me say before and the walls of this room, just like the elevator and the passage we just walked through are lined with resonance crystals, although these ones are stronger”Jeremiah grimaced. “Resonance crystals? What are you talking about?” Victoria asked. “Well, madam, resonance Crystals are a s

Jeremiah and Victoria looked all around the place and just like the elevator, the Emperor floor was also themed like the solar system but because of the size, it felt like they were in the vastness of space.Again, Jeremiah found it intriguing that he was just thinking about his father’s planetarium and space then all of a sudden everything changed to match that like it was some kind of magic. "Thank you," Jeremiah said then looked at the two hosts individually and asked, "So which one of you should I address from now on, or is it going to be both of you?""That would be me, sir. My name is Presley Montgomery and I'll be your host for the evening" the male host said with a hand on his chest as he bowed in respect.“The Emperor floor offers two hosts and leaves it to the guests to choose who they want to be catered by. Typically a man goes with a man and a woman goes with a woman but the option to pick it’s still there, so if you want to pick my colleague, Annabelle Grimes, then that

“Are you ready to go up?” Jeremiah asked Victoria. Feeling a bit nervous because she wasn’t sure of what was going to happen next, she moved in closer to Jeremiah and nodded.“Yes, I’m ready” she replied.“Alright,” Jeremiah said then focused on the buttons there. To indicate how increasingly luxurious the floors became the higher up you go, the elevator buttons were used to showcase that. Each floor had unique and beautiful buttons assigned to it in the already alluring and stylized gold-plated panel. There was one specific button out of all the rest that looked like it was the most important button. As such, that button was the highest one in the lineup with a notable gap between it and the ones directly underneath. That meant that the level of luxury afforded between the room that that button led to and the one under it were day and night apart which could only mean one thing.“The Emperor floor,” Jeremiah said the moment he identified the button and wasted no time pressing it.Th

“No, Master Jeremiah didn’t lose to me” Wellings replied and Victoria grimaced in surprise.“Wait, then does that mean you lost against him?” She said, shocked. She couldn’t fathom how someone like Wellings could lose to Jeremiah in an auction when auctions are won based on money. Was Welling’s saying that Jeremiah was richer than him? But that’s not possible, right?Wellings chuckled.“Not at all” he replied and that didn’t help to clear Victoria on what had happened.“So was it someone else? Did you two lose to another bidder?” She asked, trying her best to understand.“I did, but not Master Jeremiah” Wellings answered.Victoria tilted her head as she asked “What does that mean?”“Let me put it like this. I won something and lost some in that auction, but Master Jeremiah on the other hand only bided for one item which he won”Victoria furrowed her eyebrows.“Jeremiah beat the other bidders for the item? Is that what you’re trying to say”She wasn’t trying to belittle Jeremiah with h

“I suppose you’ve noticed that this building isn’t what it used to be a year ago,” Wellings said and Jeremiah grimaced.Since Jeremiah had been poor for most of his life which only changed less than a month ago, he didn’t know that much about high-end restaurants like The Royal Darling Gourmet Restaurant or any other one out there. The only reason he did was that Mary used to nag him about going to one every anniversary they had since they started dating, each time growing increasingly frustrated when he said he couldn’t take her because of his mother’s health issues and other responsibilities that needed the money. Her nagging only stopped after they got married and Jeremiah noticed that she hadn’t said anything about spending their anniversary as a dinner date in The Royal Darling Gourmet Restaurant.Jeremiah had just thought that she had finally understood his financial challenges and had decided to not bother him about something he couldn’t afford. At the moment, Jeremiah was very suspicious of Wellings because of Grey, who had also known his identity even though he hadn’t been the one who told either of them. Now, the question was whether Wellings was another member of Dark Emblem, because if he was then things wouldn’t go well for him. After how angry Grey had made Jeremiah during their last encounter, any member of Dark Emblem who Jeremiah came across would pay the price for the things that happened. Still, Jeremiah gave Wellings the benefit of the doubt, having a feeling that he wasn’t a member of Dark Emblem because of one complex reason; the fact that Wellings was tricked by Grey’s illusion spell and had communicated with Martha in the auction house. Now, Wellings could have been pretending that she was real, just like Grey was. But, the way their interaction was very hostile proved that he wasn’t playing any tricks. Why argue with someone he knew was an illusion and risk escalating the situation to a point that might
