Jeremiah and Lynette finally made it to the building where the welcome ceremony was taking place and just as Jeremiah was about to head to the entrance, Lynette told him to stop.

Jeremiah looked at her, wondering why she stopped him.

“We’re supposed to meet up with Mister Kingston when we get here, remember?” She said.

“That’s right. Isn’t he inside though?” Jeremiah asked.

Lynette nodded.

“Yes, he is”

“Then why are you stopping me from going in?” Jeremiah asked.

“Because we are supposed to go in another way. This way is for the guests, whereas you, young master, are to go in through a special passage,” Lynette said, and Jeremiah groaned.

“A special passage? So you’re saying that Kingston is waiting for me at that special passage,” Jeremiah said, and Lynette nodded.

Jeremiah had no problem going through a special passage if that’s what they wanted him to do, but he was curious to see how the welcome ceremony looked from the perspective of one of the guests.

He had never attended a

“Jeremiah? Has anyone heard that name before?”“Not me. I also haven’t seen him before, so I can’t tell if he’s someone important or not.”“But come to think of it, why does his face seem so oddly familiar? It’s on the tip of my tongue, but I just can’t grasp it.”“I think you’re right, he does have a very familiar face, but why is that?”“Forget about all that! What I want to know is how he knew that the gift Malcolm presented was a fake?”The guests murmured as they stared at Jeremiah. “Jeremiah or whatever your name is, who do you think you are to stand there and say that the gift I spent years and money to get and bring to this ceremony is fake?!” Malcolm asked angrily. “That’s right, who are you and can you tell everyone how you know that the mirror is a fake?” The presenter asked. Just then, Jeremiah grimaced and looked down.Truth be told, he too didn’t know why he said that the gift Malcolm had presented was fake or how he knew that it was a fake, but, for some reason, he j

While everyone had been berating Jeremiah after they asked him to prove that what he said about Malcolm’s gift was true, and he kept quiet, searching within to know why he felt the mirror was a fake magical item in the first place. He needed to know how he knew to be able to prove that what he said was true and after a couple of seconds of reflecting, he finally found the answer. He knew exactly how to prove whether an item was magical or not. Jeremiah saw all the eyes that were glued to the mirror he held in both hands, and he too looked at the mirror. “Have any of you ever seen a magical item before?” Jeremiah asked the crowd and they all looked confused. “Seems like no one other than Mister Ludwig, who brought the gift, and you, who says it’s a fake, has experience with magical items,” the presenter said on behalf of the crowd. Jeremiah chuckled. “So how can you guys know it’s real if you’ve never had any experience with one before? Does Malcolm climbing that podiu

Seeing the vitriolic gazes aimed at him, Malcolm, who didn’t know what to do, ended up chuckling nervously. “You guys can’t seriously be taking what that bastard said as the truth, can you?” Malcolm asked as a way to discredit Jeremiah, but saw that his attempts were futile.“Why shouldn’t we, Mister Ludwig? He said that the mirror would explode when destroyed if it was a real magical item, but it didn’t, so he was right, and you are a liar!” The presenter said.Among everyone there, the presenter was the most angry because he had propped up Malcolm when he said his gift was a magical item, and finding out that it was a lie made him feel like he was an idiot who believed the man. Malcolm’s brain fired on all cylinders, trying to come up with something else to say to save himself, and just in the nick of time, an idea popped up. “Wait a minute, who is he for all of you to believe that what he said is true?” Malcolm asked, pointing at Jeremiah.“What do you mean? We all saw what happ

Malcolm gulped, fear in his eyes. There truly was no way out of this mess this time. Malcolm quickly went on his knees, pressed his head on the floor, and groveled at Reginald’s feet. “Please forgive me, Your Majesty! I didn’t know that the mirror wasn’t a true magical item! Even I was fooled by the merchant who sold it to me,” Malcolm pleaded. “I’m confused, didn’t you say that you spent years and millions to obtain the mirror?” Reginald asked. “That’s right your majesty. Millions of my hard-earned money and time was put into—“ Malcolm said, but Reginald cut him off. “If that’s the case, then I assume you would have done your research to know if the item was truly magical or not, or are you telling me that you’re so incompetent, that a simple merchant scammed you out of millions for a regular mirror?” Reginald asked and Malcolm gulped. He knew that nobody would believe such a stupid lie because how did he, a successful businessman, who had been in search of the mirror for a

Jeremiah watched the guests, who were all just told to fork over one hundred million dollars each, clap and cheer on Reginald for letting them off the hook with only that punishment and he was taken aback by it.It was like they took it as a slap on the wrist and that was very strange, but at the same time, it taught Jeremiah a very important lesson. In this world there was power and there was power beyond power and that little scene just showcased which part of that spectrum Reginald belonged in. Crazy, but at least beside Malcolm, who was about to lose his hands, no other person was hurt. Money was far less important than body parts, especially to this crowd of people who could get their money back as time passed, so in the end everything concluded on a positive note. ‘I guess everything ended as well as it could have’ Jeremiah thought, then sighed, accepting that he was going to be a billionaire at the end of the night. Yes, his family’s money was unmeasurable, but for him, as

“What the hell is this? A Rubix cube? Was whoever gave this even trying?” The presenter said to himself, then he turned to his assistant and asked “Do you know whose gift this is?” Looking at the Rubix cube, the assistant, who didn’t know who dropped it in the pile of gifts, shrugged.“Does whoever gave this want the king to waste his time fixing it and matching the colors? I’m confused. What’s the point of this?” The presenter said, a disappointed look on his face. He looked inside the open gift box for something… anything that would let him know who the giver was, but there was nothing. He even turned the box upside down and shook it, hoping that a piece of paper or something to help identify the giver would fall out, but still nothing. “So the giver of this didn’t leave anything to tell us their identity? Strange,” the presenter scratched his head with the head of the microphone and then faced the crowd. He put the microphone to his mouth and said “Excuse me, but did anyone drop

It became so intense that the guests who were all a few feet away and more could also see it.“You’re right boss. It is vibrating” the assistant said, surprised.“You think?! What the hell is this?!” The presenter said, panicked. All the guests who also saw the Rubix cube in the presenter’s hand vibrate like crazy started to become curious and concerned.“What’s going on with that thing?”“Why is it shaking so much?”“Isn’t that a normal Rubix cube?”They all asked as they slowly walked closer to get a better view of what was going on.“Oh my gosh!” The presenter exclaimed again.“What, boss?!” Exclaimed the assistant, startled by the presenter’s sudden outburst.“This thing, it’s getting hotter—“ the presenter said, but was cut off.“Throw it away, right now!” Everyone heard and when they looked at the source of the command, they saw that it was Jeremiah.“What?!” The presenter asked loudly. “That cube, throw it away, right now!” Jeremiah yelled, using his body to cover Reginald, wh

They wouldn’t stop running until they knew for certain that they were far enough from the explosion to be safe, but considering that none of them understood the type of bomb or what the blast radius of the explosion would be, they decided that they were going to play it safe and keep on running until their legs gave out.“What’s going on?” Brenda asked as she saw the guests running and screaming. “Excuse me, what—” she tried to stop a guest rushing past her, but was ignored as if she were invisible.‘What the hell?’ she thought, a look of frustration crossing her face. ‘For everyone to be running like this… something serious must have happened.’Determined to get answers, Brenda blocked the path of another guest and grabbed the person’s shoulders, giving them no choice but to stop and listen to her.“Tell me what’s going on! Why is everyone running—?” Brenda as

Just two days ago, the phrase “I live to serve you, My Lord” was something Jeremiah never imagined he would hear directed at him. However, hearing it from Reginald had transformed it into the most enticing sentence anyone had ever spoken to him. This just goes to show how quickly things can change in a matter of hours. From being a nobody orphan whose wife cheated on him and asked for a divorce, to becoming the heir of the most powerful family in the world who also had a very beautiful woman/mythical being waiting for him to remember their past together so they could get married. His life truly was a dream come true and if he was told two days ago that this was what his near future would be, he never would have believed it.“Thank you” Jeremiah replied and Reginald, whose head was bowed, smirked. Seeing Reginald, their king and the highest authority they’ve known for many years, bow to Jeremiah felt strange to the maids but it was also nice to watch because it meant that everything w

With each passing second, the turmoil and fear in the hearts of all the maids standing there increased to new heights. Jeremiah, having never been in this type of situation before, was clueless about what to do.As someone who had spent his entire teenage and adult years being looked down upon by all the people around him, Jeremiah had gotten used to not being and also not being seen as a threat or an object of fear and intimidation to others.Things changing to what it was now felt jarring and Jeremiah was left not knowing what to do to quell the situation. “Umm…” Jeremiah said but stopped when he felt a hand on his shoulder. He looked to the side and saw that it was Reginald holding him. “Dad?” Jeremiah mouthed.“Don’t worry, My Lord. You’re still new to this and until your past memories come back, you’ll have some challenges ruling over people. Fortunately, you have me to help” Reginald smirked. Jeremiah looked at the crowd of maids then he looked at Reginald and calmed down.

Seeing Jeremiah transform before their eyes was like watching a scene from a movie, but with the most spectacular special effects imaginable. The color and texture of his arms changed, becoming scaly in appearance and possessing a toughness almost equal to steel. They also grew longer, with the muscle fibers becoming more prominent, while the fingernails lengthened and turned completely black.Speaking of his fingernails— which could be called claws at that point— they looked sharp and hard enough to effortlessly slice through flesh and even cut through bone like marshmallows.Jeremiah's facial structure also went through some changes, becoming less human-like— sharper and wider to be exact. His teeth grew longer and sharper, his ears elongated like elves’, and his eyes…His eyes completely changed in color and shape, taking on the appearance of a reptile’s, with a dangerous black-and-gold tint that sent chills down the spines of everyone who met his gaze.If this were a video game, b

The maids all looked in the direction Reginald was gesturing at, their eyes as sharp as eagles as they tried to see who Lord Crimson was. They had never been more interested in anything than they had been in this particular topic since it was brought to them. After all, who wouldn’t be interested in finding out the validity of something that had been a major part of their life growing up? After looking for a moment, all the maids could see were Jeremiah and Kingston—no one else. Confused, they glanced away from the two, wondering if Reginald had gestured in the wrong direction. There was clearly nothing in the opposition direction too so they didn’t even bother looking there. Instead, they looked among themselves and pondered if Lord Crimson hadn’t come to the room yet. Still, that didn’t make sense because the look on Reginald’s face was that of someone who was certain that Lord Crimson was where he was pointing. However, their eyes told them otherwise—so what on earth was going o

The maids glanced at the guards, who, as they realized while panicking about their throbbing tongues, had remained straight-faced throughout the entire ordeal. They then groaned, grateful for the clarification Reginald had just provided.“Only a select few didn’t experience what you all did but do not be offended by that,” Reginald said, drawing the maids’s attention back to himself. The few who didn’t feel the discomfort on their tongues because the secret spell wasn’t cast on them were Bruce, David, Kingston, Reginald, Obadiah who casted the spell, and of course Jeremiah. The maids could figure out the identity of the people Reginald was talking about and weren’t offended by it. Rather, it made them more curious about what Reginald was going to tell them that was going to shake their worldview.“The sensation you all felt was the result of a spell called The Secrecy Spell. Its purpose is to make sure that none of you can relay what you’re about to find out in this gathering to some

All the maids started reacting to the sensation they were having on their tongues, wondering what was going on.Was it in all their heads or was something actually physically happening to them? Some reacted calmly and level-headedly to the strange sensations their tongues were experiencing, while others panicked. However, they were all concerned and worried about their tongues suddenly acting up.“My tongue. What’s happening to my tongue?!” Said one of the maid who moved her tongue around her mouth, trying to understand the strange sensation she couldn’t explain. It was like the tongue was throbbing, getting hot, itchy and numb, all at the same time, which didn’t make sense and was something that had never happened before. “You’re feeling that too? I thought I was the only one. What’s going on?” Said another who brought out her tongue and touched it, not feeling the throbbing or hot sensation on her finger which made her think that she was imagining it but that didn’t make sense be

Jeremiah used to think that the platinum debit card he got from Anthony, the manager of Polaris Bank, was the highest form of debit card anyone could get and use for his/her transactions. However, here he was finding out there was an even greater level than that. The Black Debit card. This was a card that only one bank in the entire world provided its customers. In fact, the bank only provided the Black Debit card to its customers and only on the condition that they meet certain financial criteria that 99.999% of the world’s population would never reach.A customer has to have at least ten billion dollars in cash before they can open an account with them and once opened, the Black Debit card is provided. The name of the bank was Sentry Bank, and there were fewer than seventy people in the entire world who had an account with them—Jeremiah being one of them.“I had always planned to have you abandon your current bank account and opt for the new one Kingston was going to create for you

After watching Lynette and Elizabeth leave the throne room and the door get closed, the four men who were once having a meeting before being interrupted, returned to that. “I never would have guessed that what just happened would happen when we started this meeting a couple of minutes ago, but I’m extremely happy that it did” Reginald said and Jeremiah groaned.“His Majesty is right, My Lord," Obadiah said, making Jeremiah look at him. "With Miss Lynette's knowledge of the past and her claim of having taught you not just a simple magic spell but the most complex and powerful one in the world, she will be of greater help to your growth in magic than I ever could."Jeremiah thought about what the shaman said and grimaced.“You’s right, she might— no, she will be of greater help to my magic training than you can.” Jeremiah said, making Obadiah to smile prematurely. “But, she also said that it will take a while for her powers to come back after she’d resurrected for the first time in a l

Hearing what Lynette had just said, Reginald, Kingston, and Obadiah—who remained silent—were all relieved yet shocked that their hypothesis was correct. Granted, Jeremiah had been the one to come up with the hypothesis, but they had all believed in it.Now, this revelation brought about even more questions they struggled to articulate, especially since Lynette was no longer the maid they once held authority over.As a being very similar to what Jeremiah was, Lynette—who had existed for centuries—didn’t have to answer to anyone if she chose not to, and her behavior so far, speaking to the king and Kingston like regular people, made that abundantly clear.“Even I was confused when she woke from her rest and claimed she used to be close friends with Lord Crimson before his reincarnation. At first, I wondered how that could be possible, given that Lord Crimson’s reincarnation took place centuries ago. But the honesty and conviction in her words made me curious to know if she was telling t
