A second before the explosion happened, Jeremiah, who didn’t know if he was going to survive or not, did what anyone in his predicament would do and hardened the front part of his body.

Doing that felt instinctively right and it didn’t matter that in normal circumstances, nothing— especially that— would save anyone from a direct bomb blast to the body.

In his arsenal was something that could protect him and save his life, so in a desperate effort to increase his chance of survival, Jeremiah tried to use the magic Reginald had told him that he would be able to use after absorbing enough power from the ring.
