Back to delta city

And now it was time for him to leave Shinigami island, it's five years already and Shinigami has to keep to his words.

Shinigami created a portal after he drew a rune with his stele to avoid being traced when he creates the portal. (But would that stop the most powerful warlock from sensing it?)

Drake found himself flung forward and tumbling through empty space as he jumped into the portal Shinigami had created after giving him a long, hard stare and also a long hug. Staying with Shinigami for five years in the island had cemented their friendship.

He was too surprised to scream. The sensation of falling was the worst part; his heart flew up into his throat and his stomach turned to water. He flung his hands out, trying to catch at something, anything, that might slow his descent.

His hands closed on branches. Leaves tore off in his grip. He thumped to the ground, hard, his hip and shoulder striking packed earth. He rolled over, sucking the air back into his lungs. He was just beginning to sit up when something heavy landed on top of him.

He was knocked backward. A Bag most likely comprising of books banged against his forehead. His knees banging against a stele; a long, luminous cylinder, as thick around as an index finger and tapering to a point used to draw magic runes that gives extra abilities, every umbra hunter needed it it's always used by just umbra hunters. He stood up and dusted himself and looked around to find himself on some place he suspected to be a research institute. A seahawk was just in front of him. He picked up the bag he suspected Shinigami must have thrown along with him and the stele.

The pilot who was watching unbuckled himself from the pilot’s seat and stepped out into the cold morning from the Seahawk and fixated his gaze on the strange figure that had just appeared from nowhere. All he saw was a purplish smoke that kept moving round in circles about an axis that appeared from nowhere and a figure, fell from it hauling.

Captain storm, the pilots stood on the edge of the floodlights above the helipad. His face was grim, almost corpse-like, against the wind and the rain pelting the sleeping research institute. He took a few steps closer to Drake until they were standing face to face.

Drake was looking like a mad man, dirty and stinking with his clothes made from coat of the skin and his sandals braided with tough leather and his beards probably not have been shaved for decades.

"Who are you?...And how did you get here? " Captain storm asked.

Drake didn't reply,he was beginning to wonder where the portal landed him, he knew he was close to home. He just stared straight into captain storm's eyes and hypnotized him to take him to Delta city capital. Actually, it was a technique he learned from Shinigami called mind compulsion - Through the use of hypnosis, just like vampires are able to dominate the mind and will of a human by simple eye contact, soft speech or a simple wave of the hand.

He jumped into the passenger seat as the pilot buckled himself into the pilots seat getting ready to take off. He was under Drake's control. Drake felt like a God welding all those powers. He had no idea what was coming.

The blades started spinning and the wind forced an approaching officer back off the helipad as he approached to confirm his suspicion that something was not right. He was the watching officer, few metres away he also saw the incident unfold.

As the Seahawk took off and headed out over the open water, Drake stood in the hold and watched the place fade over the horizon.

He imagined the supposed institute was the island and flashed into thoughts, the collection of tiny lifeboats, full of tiny creatures, watched the helicopter depart. He recalled his first glimpse of the island from a hold of a mountain five years ago, and thinking that the interconnected, diamond-shaped island had resembled a giant, dilapidated demon of smoke and steel.

He had found demons there, that much was certain, and nightmares enough to last a lifetime. He had become something more than he was. Something very powerful.

Shinigami island, a living monstrosity.

Demons, most definitely, but also a Nephalem.

Two hours later they flew into a storm, heading towards the west and away from the daylight in the east, outpacing the dawn. He looked out to the sea, at the course ahead. Vast, mighty storm clouds obscured the sky, and not five minutes later freezing rain, thunder and lightning threw the chopper around. Storm, flying true to his name, persevered.

There was no turning back. Half an hour later and Drake spotted the curve of the coastline, of land. He smiled at the sight of it.

Storm landed on a helipad at the harbour’s edge of st Matthews Anglican church in Delta city. Drake jumped out of the hold as soon as they were down.

Drake had just crossed the edge of the helipad when he heard his name.

"You've returned,Drake..." his inner self reflected a sound wave to his perception. Lightning tore through the sky directly over his head, charging the air with static and fresh ozone as the captain storm jumped off the Seahawk wearing a surprised face. The stronger a human's will the longer the hypnotic effect. Obviously captain storm had a weak will and as such the hypnotic effect Drake had on him was starting to wear off.

Drake held up his hand. Soft, evanescent light pooled in his palm, so bright that captain storm had to look away.

He exhaled a breathe of fire and finally spatted the words out.

"I'm finally home!"

He glanced at the captain who was looking in astonishment. " Thanks for the ride".

Drake took three long steps back before he turned and ran, disappearing into the early morning darkness with the images from five years ago flashing through his mind… The Ravener demon that killed his Dad and almost killed him.

The waves of the ocean on his left crashed against the shore, fighting the storm along the pebbly beach. He caught up with taxi half a minute later. An invisible cord of anxiety, of exhilaration, shivered through him as well.

Five years after a shipwreck left him stranded. He is now back in Delta city.
