"I'll be back shortly," the nurse said, before leaving the room.
Jeff sat on the bed, asking himself if all these was a dream. He still didn't want to believe what he was hearing or seeing.
"This must be some kind of dream. Me having billionaires I know nothing of. It's like saying the president has a dinosaur as a pet," Jeff doubted.
"Incorrect Jeff . Dinosaurs no longer exists in this era. Therefore, it's impossible for the president to possess such," the system corrected.
Jeff groaned and placed his hands on his head. Trying to understand what exactly was going on.
Just as he was doing that, Jeff 's phone suddenly rang out from where it was kept on a table, right beside him.
He sighed and took the phone. Glancing at the screen that glowed.
Jeff gasped when he recognized the name popping on the screen. JKC, was the name that popped up.
It's what Jeff used in saving a particular company's number, just in case they call him over for an interview.
Seeing the company calling him, Jeff felt the ray of hope shining upon him. He smiled excitedly and sat on the bed with his legs crossed.
"This is it! The moment I've been waiting for. I knew that one of this companies would call me for an interview. I am not a loser," he cheered.
Jeff decided to answer the call quickly before it hang up. He was so excited that he didn't know what to say when the interviewer speaks.
He answered the call and said, "Good day sir." He composed himself.
"Ah yes, is that Mr Jeff on the line?" The interviewer questioned him.
Hearing the interviewer mention his name, Jeff answered enthusiastically. "Yes sir, that's me. I'm Mr. Jeff ," he confirmed.
"Right. I see now. Well I called concerning your file and letter of appointment," the interviewer stated.
Jeff curiously waited to hear what the interviewer had to say. He felt his heart beating fast, as he hoped that he got the job.
"Yeah,the thing is that my company doesn't need people like you here. We've rejected your letter and suggest you just stay home and rest," the interviewer said. Giving out a mocking laughter.
Jeff became stunned when he heard this. He wondered what had happened that he got rejected without even coming in for the interview.
"So we wish you a happy stay home and peace," the interviewer said. Set to cut the line.
"Please wait! What happened? My file has every qualification needed to work at your company. How did I get rejected?" He questioned.
Feeling uncomfortable, Jeff rose from the bed. Pacing up and down in the room, waiting for an answer.
The interviewer groaned and responded to Jeff 's question. "Look Mr. Jeff , I've told you my decision. My company won't hire you," he declared again.
"Check my file, my qualifications. I Know very well that I can work there. What did I do wrong that led to this decision?" He asked desperately.
Jeff was beginning to fe unease. After all his struggle in getting a job. The last job that he had planned on going the next day, called him now and decided to reject him.
This wasn't something he was going to let slide. He needed to know their reason. It was obvious that they didn't check his file before making such decision.
This only made Jeff 's frustration increase little bit little.
"Do you really want to know huh? Well fine then, I'll tell you man," the interviewer said. Changing his attitude towards Jeff .
Jeff didn't care about impressing the fellow. He was keen on knowing his reason.
"We got to know that you and Mr Trent, a business partner of ours, have some kind of hatred for one another," the interviewer started.
Hearing the name Trent, Jeff remembered Ashley's boyfriend. The image of the rich spoilt brat and Ashley, appeared before him.
They laughed at him mockingly and walked away with style in his imagination.
"I don't want enemies of our business partner in my company. It's bad for business. You brought this upon yourself boy. So you gotta pay," the interviewer pointed out.
Jeff listened to the interviewer quietly. He could feel his heart boiling with rage.
What the interviewer said next, only increased Jeff 's hatred for Trent and Ashley deeply.
"And I don't know what you were thinking. Fighting a rich man like that over his woman. You got skills of a fool boy," he laughed mockingly.
"Your action didn't only cause you your chance of getting a job at my company but at every other company," the interviewer viewed.
"What? That's impossible!" Jeff doubted. Getting mad every step by step.
"Spoiler alert. I'm already telling you what's happening before you go and disgrace yourself outside other companies," the interviewer revealed more to Jeff .
"Trent contacted every big companies that he's partnering with, and warned them not to give you any job, no matter how good you are. It's the wish of not only him but his girlfriend."
Jeff is shocked to hear this. Is this how much Ashley hates him that she wants to ruin him for good?
The interviewer doesn't hear Jeff 's response, but breathing coming from him. "Well you have heard Mr. Jeff . Maybe before you can get yourself a job, you'll have to go and beg Mr Trent and his lady," the interviewer suggested to Jeff .
He disconnects the call on Jeff . Not caring about him anymore. Jeff gets mad because of this.
He groaned angrily and smashed his phone against the wall. "Ashley!" He cried out disheartening.
"Excuse me, are you okay?" The voice of the nurse came in.
Jeff turned back and found the nurse standing inside the room with the bill again. "You have to pay up sir. I have other things to do," she said.
"Okay then. Just give me a second," Jeff said. Hiding his pains and anger from the nurse.
He glances at the golden card on the bed and recurred the system's words, about him possessing billions.
Not having the strength to say anything any more, but still doubting the system, Jeff handed the card over to the nurse.
He wanted to verify if what the system said was true or false, about the wealth being real.
"I'll be back shortly," she said, leaving the room with Jeff 's golden card.
"Oh okay nurse. I'll wait here," he said, sitting back on the bed.
After the nurse left, Jeff doubted that the card would pay his hospital bills. He feared the nurse would return back with the security to deal with him.
"What I'm I doing? What if it comes out false? I'll be done for. I don't have any money. I've got nothing to bail myself," he panicked.
Just then, the nurse returned back to the room with the golden card in her hand.
Jeff sees her and gets frightened even more. He wondered what she was going to say to him.
"Here's your card Mr Jeff . Payment successful," she said, handing over both card and receipt to Jeff .
Jeff us stunned to hear this. He couldn't believe his ears. It actually worked. There really is money in the card.
"Hope you take good care do yourself. Have a nice day," the nurse said to him. Leaving the room finally.
Shocked by this result, Jeff chuckled and gazed at the golden card. "It worked. It actually worked. I can't believe this," He said, staring at it.
"Payment successful Jeff ," The system reported.
Jeff could feel a different energy flowing inside of him. This was the energy and power of wealth.
Now he had so much money with him. He thought of many things to do with his reaches.
"This is a dream come true. I can't wait to get down to business," He said confidently.
