3: Heartbroken

"Please, Kanye, leave him, pleeeasse!" Cassandra pleaded to her newly-hoarded boyfriend as he rushed to devour Rex.

Rex was pained seeing his fellow man attempting to beat him after snatching away his girlfriend.

"Who do you say you really are, and what is your mission here?" Kanye asked, still burning in rage. But Rex didn't utter a word as he was trying to digest the shock Cassandra caused him.

"Cassandra, you want to break up with me?" he said.

His words sounded like an explosive bomb to Kenya West's ears, and he immediately freed himself from Cassandra's hand and scurried at Rex, who immediately took to his feet, but Kanye ran faster before he could open the door and catch him.

Kanye, being a gym enthusiast, strongly believed he could beat Rex to a stupor, not minding the muscular biceps that evolved in Rex's muscular region. Rex was also trained in martial arts when he was with his family before their demise.

Kanye grabbed Rex and punched him hard, he punched him very hard, and the punch left a blotch on his face. This made Rex change his mind, he got angry and gave Kanye a sound beating. He beat and rolled Kanye on the floor before Cassandra rushed to her phone and dialed the police. Rex left Kanye on the floor and took to his feet with the items he bought. He can't forget the gifts since Cassandra does not belong to him anymore.

"Idiot! What an insult!" Kanye cursed as he pursued him out of Cassandra's apartment. He chased him until Rex ran to the exit gate.

"Ahem-Ahem!, Ahem-Ahem-Ahem!" Rex coughed profusely as he was running out of Vingood Lodge. The whole residents, including those girls who threw shade at him when he was coming, videotaped him when he was running out of Cassandra's apartment. They watched him as he was running helplessly to flee from Kanye West's hand, unbeknownst to them that Kanye had received a mind-blowing beating from Rex inside.

They enjoyed the show Rex was displaying as they made fun of him and videoed him running with his Valentine's gift, as well as the celebrity student, Kanye West, as they were running.

"I said that this wretched guy was up to something; he never ceases to amaze people. Who the hell told him that Kanye West was someone to toil with and go scot-free?

"Tina, let's talk reasonably about something profitable. It's when he'll find himself in prison that he'll get rid of the evil spirit that led him into troubling Kanye West," one of Cassandra's dorm mates told her colleagues.

Rex arrived at his mini-lodge, looking devastated. He recalls memorably the incident that happened at Vingood Lodge after what he went through under Cassandra. He wept and regretted his life, wishing death could take him.

"All because I'm broke, just because I did not come from a rich family. Why, why me? Fate, where are you? Fate, why is my life different from others? Fate, why did you choose to be partial? Why did you rig my destiny like this? Even political leaders can't be this heartless. Why did you allow death to take the only people supporting me even when the whole school despised me? Oh fate, you are so heartless and cruel.

He was still rolling and whimpering on the corridor floor when Andrea rushed in, he was breathing laboriously as if something or someone was after him.

"Rex, thank goodness I met you, the media is on conflagration...

Rex interrupted Andrea before he could finish speaking.

"Yes, Andrea, it has happened, the media is ablaze—ooh, the media inside me is burning. You said it, but I thought you were joking then," he said, still wailing on the ground.

"What did I say,? Have you heard the news?" Andrea asked in a bewildered state.

"Which news anymore if not that my girlfriend has rejected me—my girlfriend of eight years, my childhood and teenage girlfriend?" he groaned.

"Oh wow, you never stop amazing me. Which girlfriend is this? Do you even have a girlfriend at all? He paused and squatted down to where Rex was wailing and cursing.

He raised his eyelids a bit and made Rex know he didn't come for silly jokes.

"Look, Rex, if I wanted to watch or listen to jokes, I would have visited Kelvin Hart's concert. Look at me, man; tell me what's your problem," Andrea questioned out of curiosity.

"Andrea, I must admit I'm the biggest fool in this twenty-first century," he replied, trying to console himself but ended up slumping back on the floor after a flashback of Cassandra's moans ran to his memory.

"Hey!, my fellow man smashed my girlfriend in my presence, and she was moaning his name loud."

"Hey, you better man up. Why are you acting as if we are shooting movies? Which girlfriend are you talking about? Oh, I think I'm getting it now. You're missing your childhood girlfriend after she got married, right?" he enunciated.

"No, no, bro, that's not it. Firstly, I apologize for keeping this a secret from you all this time. I was like an enslaved person all the while. I and Cassandra were dating until...

"Oh damn it, you mean Cassandra Morgan?" he interrupted Rex after he heard Cassandra.

"No bro, Cassandra Knight, the girl that visited me on that day I returned from the sick bay."

"Wait, wait, wait. "What!, oh sh*t, you mean Cassandra Knight? The one whose news buzzed the internet today," Andrea said, while Rex jumped up from the floor, which he had refused to stand up from, and stood up.

"Which of Cassandra?" Rex asked with an astonished look on his face.

"The one you just mentioned earlier, of course, or do you have any skeletons in your cupboard?"

"No bro...Ye—yes bro, that was what I wanted to explain to you." He gazed down at the floor while narrating his story to him: "Cassandra was my childhood female friend, and we had our basic education in the same school and also at the same college. Luckily, we got admitted to the same university, but things started turning out for us. Cassandra started despising me, to the extent that she said our relationship should be a secret one. I did not know her reason behind that then until today." He paused to observe Andrea's countenance to know if he was getting along with what he was telling him.

"Yes, bro, until today, what then happened?" Andrea curiously asked.

"Until today... until today! He wept.

"What then happened today? Stop beating around the bush and be austere," Andrea uttered.

Rex continued while sobbing: "I decided that I would surprise Casandra on her last birthday, but unfortunately, I went cashless a week before the birthday." He hissed and winked his head in agony, then continued: "After I wasn't able to show up on her birthday, I decided to surprise her today being Valentine's Day...

"Oh f*ck, let it not be what I'm thinking," Andrea uttered in amazement.

"So I saved enough of what I could and bought some things I thought she would like for the surprise... He paused, shaking his head in agony, and uttered: "Andrea, my heart hurts, what do I do? I don't even think I would ever get rid of this in my memory."

"You will... you will, man, but what exactly happened?"

Andrea was already getting tired of Rex's disingenuousness, he had been patiently waiting for Rex to break the news to him that he had given up on pressuring him.

Rex sighed and continued: "So I stormed down to Cassandra's lodge and bagged in her room, just to see Cassandra underneath, being smashed by Kanye West."
