4: Friend Indeed

"The worst of all, could you believe Kanye West chased me? If not that Cassandra called the police, I would have beaten him, which happened in the presence of the whole lodge's residents. The most painful part was that they all made videos of me while I was running like a mad dog with those Valentine's gifts I spent a lot on to get for Cassandra," he said.

"Oh! So you are the guy behind those blogs and media? He brought out his phone and opened his Macro app. He searched for random posts and saw the popular blogger in the state with the post captioned: Man caught stealing in Vingood Lodge and got chased by the lodge's security dog. Reports said he had been blocked in the school diary and was now missing. Tap below for the full posts."

Rex went astray after he read the post with Andrea. He saw a picture of him being chased by a dog while holding those packages he bought for Cassandra. He couldn't believe he saw pictures of himself being chased by a German shepherd dog, while in reality, the person who chased him was Kenya West. The image was photoshopped.

It dawned on him that Kanye West had set him up.

"Oh, the power of money, why me?" he exclaimed.

"Sorry, man, I knew you as a brave man, and I believe you can overcome whatever appears to be a predicament to you. Girls are insensitive," Andrea consoles him, patting him on the shoulder.

Rex nodded. He buried his finger in his pants and brought out a handkerchief to wipe out the perennial tears flowing down from his eyes.

"Bro, I am grateful. I'm grateful for having such a person like you as a friend despite my financial status, even though everyone on this campus despises me, especially after I was accused of looting money from a coursemate during a lecture. The hating increased rapidly after that, and now everyone makes fun of me wherever I go. Even those I never expected to know me, but you stood by me."

"It is well, bro. Remember, behind every successful man, there must be a story to tell, so don't feel you're different or doubt the possibility, and neither will you underestimate yourself as others do, but rather remain robust; Andrea drew closer to where he sat and spoke these courageous words to him. And it made Rex confident that he would be fine after some time.

"I've heard you, bro; thank you for this," Rex replied with relish.

"Good, I'm pleased you are no longer sobbing."

"Let's go drink some coffee to freshen up; I believe it would help you to forget some things," Andrea suggested.

Rex gazed at Andrea with his disappointed feeling written over his face; he was pained by what Andrea said.

"How could you say such a thing? You know how I'm struggling to meet up with my needs—that I can hardly afford my feeding. Yet you are advising me to go out there and drink coffee."

Andrea burst into laughter. He was amazed bout how Rex thought he expected him to go out and buy himself a coffee, which a mad person would not even think about because Rex's financial worth was unspeakable?"

Rex is one of the poorest students on campus, living in a lodge a madman can afford to buy. Andrea could remember how many times their faculty members have hosted donations for the needs, and Rex was among those who had a percentage of the money.

"No, why would I think that? Come, let's go freshen up. I have enough cash for that, okay?" Andrea said.

Rex was overjoyed on hearing the last statement: "I have enough cash." He couldn't remember when someone took him out or said that phrase. How could he? When everyone on campus hates him. He beamed a smile and went inside his ransacked room to get dressed and remove the lovey Valentine's clothes he bought, which he wore to Cassandra.

"I'm set," he uttered as he stormed out of his room.

"This is good on you; some girls lack common sense, men! How could one reject this fresh lovey-dovey dude and go for Kanye West? Just because of common paper, a mere dollar of which she will get after some days, weeks, months, and years of hard work and smart work," Andrea hailed Rex, who was laughing out the flattering and hyping.

"Are you kidding me? I never knew I was as good and handsome as you said; thanks," Rex said, his face beaming with a smile.

Indeed, Rex was a very handsome man; his muscled chest made his body well-modified and more fascinating than that of a bodybuilder. Adding to his muscular biceps."

This made him every woman's dream, especially the six packs that intrigue some affluent female students on campus, they always invite him for a nightstand in their home, but Rex always turns them down, trying to be faithful to his Cassandra. That was probably why Cassandra kept him as a chick to satisfy her darkest fantasies while cheating with the campus big chaps.

They hastened to Andrea's car, which he zoomed off after they entered.

Inside the car, Rex and Andrea were busy discussing and talking about university life. How most lecturers made voiceless girls abide by their conditions to get good results and come out with flying colors.

Rex dog more profound into the discussion; the thoughts of high and steady increases in handout fees and school fees had eaten him up.

"Seriously, it's demoralizing seeing how things are turning worse these days in this school." He shook his head in disbelief.

One of my female coursemates told me how Mr. Jay wanted to assault her sexually; she said the filthy lecturer made her fail her assignment, threatening to get carryover if she refused to let him in...

"Let him in where? You mean the girl locked him outside his car?" Rex asked.

"Let him in her honey pot, or you have not heard any story of how Mr. Jay deceives girls, especially naive ones newly divulged to the school?"

They arrived at the happening, famous hotel in the Lincoln district, and Andrea matched the accelerator, which the car obeyed. He revised and went to the parking center.

Rex was stunned, seeing such a tower and the people going in and out of it. He had not been to the hotel since he got into the university. They made their way to the hotel attendant.

"Where are we going, Andrea?" "I thought you said to take coffee, but this isn't a coffee mart."

"Calm down; we came here for the coffee, as I told you earlier in your house," Andrea said while he was busy heading inside, to the receptionist with Rex, who was deeply in thought.
