Chapter 269

Tyla shook her head, unwilling to accept the truth, but the court session had already ended. The judge had closed the case and everyone else left to their various homes. Tyla slammed her fists on the desk, anger swirling in her eyes, “Nathan!” she seethed, “Tell me this is not true! Tell me this is not true!”

Nathan averted his eyes and dragged himself up, “I'm sorry, Miss Brooks, but that is really the end.” he said, turning around to leave.

Tyla walked after him, unwilling to allow him leave after he had ruined her life. Upon getting outside the court, Tyla stretched and grabbed his hands, “Go talk to the judge. Bribe him, force him, just do something!”

“Miss Brooks,” Nathan breathed, trying to pry her hands away, “You've not experienced a court case before? Once the judge passes the judgment, do you think anything could be done?” he asked, his gaze fixed on her.

Tyla chuckled darkly, “Why did you promise me then? Why did you promise me you could handle the case?!” she snapped
