Chapter 1: Divorce Papers

With a smile on his face, Bryce Grant Milano got off an online taxi, and stepped into the top-class building.

"I'm proud of my wife. Veronica has managed to become a successful woman. The company she led experienced a golden age and reached a glorious peak. I’m so in love," Bryce muttered. The man has been married to Veronica Carter for two years.

"Be careful if you walk you spill my drink," scolded a woman as Bryce nudged her.

"Oh, Arelyn. Sorry, I just came to pick up my wife," he responded. Bryce recognised her as his wife's secretary, Arelyn.

"It's a good thing this flower is okay. Veronica will be happy to see this." Bryce had ordered a bouquet as a special surprise.

"Don't joke around. That cheap bouquet would only be an insult to Miss Carter," said Arelyn shaking her head with a slight laugh. Her tone seemed much colder.

"Let's make things quicker and easier. Mr Milano, please sign the document right now."

A confused Bryce immediately asked, "Arelyn, what is this document?"

The woman, with a haughty expression, responded, "Divorce papers between yourself and Miss Carter."

"Divorce?" Bryce stunned to hear this. "My relationship with Veronica is fine. Yes, we have experienced a little tension lately, this is normal in every relationship."

Bryce never expected to get divorce papers for all the full support he had given Veronica.

"There's a mistake here. I want to see my wife," Bryce responded evasively. He even returned the document to Arelyn, then she became angry.

"Bryce Milano, stop your pace. I am here as Miss Carter's representative because she is not in the office and wants to convey her request through this document. Open your eyes. This is reality!"

Bryce, who was shouted at in a harsh and rude tone, immediately responded, "Arelyn, watch your tone. I am the husband of your boss, after all."

The woman chuckled when she heard Bryce's sentence. This scene began to cause reactions from the crowd in the office. Many pairs of eyes were now focused on Bryce and Arelyn.

"I don't want to create a scene, but you started it. A rubbish man like you doesn't deserve to call himself a husband. Aren't you ashamed that people here always gossip about your wife?"

Arelyn stepped closer and whispered, "Bryce, you are a shameful man, a disgrace to Veronica. Your relationship with her is a humiliation to her success."

The crowd seemed to be getting more enthusiastic to see where the debate went, hearing the jeers. The people in the office strongly agreed with Arelyn's line.

"This man is crazy. I knew he was just a useless husband."

Arelyn dragged Bryce's hand and brought him to one of the desks next to the receptionist. The people who saw the incident sneered at Bryce even more.

"You better sign this document and let Miss Carter go for good. That woman's burden is already too heavy. If you love your wife, then this is a better gift for you than that cheap bouquet. Didn’t you tire to embarrass your wife like this?" Arelyn pressed Bryce.

"Arelyn, How could you say those things to me?" Bryce began to feel that the secretary's words were true.

"Because deep down in your heart, you know what I said it's true. Look at your insulting gift to the bouquets from other businessmen now on display in the office. Bryce, we both know it’s nothing to her. You can’t even compete in the losing game," Arelyn pressed Bryce down.

Bryce looked back at the divorce document. His eyes saw every word written there. The pen in his hand even felt heavy to sign the document.

"Come on! Your wife has been a clown for too long because of your presence. This office is even like a circus show every time you come," Arelyn pressed, which made Bryce feel even more helpless.

"Is this the correct thing to do?" Bryce tried to brace himself to sign the document.

"So this is the end of this hobo man. What a foolish girl who chose to stand with a trash bag instead of a cash bag. Was she turned on by this messy man or did she have a degrading kink?"

When Bryce heard that, he did not accept it. "What did you just say? Tell that to my face."

The man got up, leaving the pen and divorce document that had not been signed.

"You work in this company, but you have the nerve to insult your boss," Bryce reprimanded the men, but they laughed.

"Dude, you don't need to overreact like that. Your wife is our boss, but she's also a joke in this office because of you. We've all even heard rumours that you'll be divorced soon and given monetary compensation as damages. And it was crazy to think like that. Was she a weirdo like you?"

Bryce felt even more annoyed, especially when he heard the compensation. He had given everything for Veronica's success. A year ago, Bryce had even sold all his remaining assets so that his wife could become a great businessman.

"Yeah, our boss was too stupid to give a big value to her trashy husband when it should be the woman who should receive the compensation money due to her reputation that became ugly."

Bryce, who did not accept his wife being made fun of, immediately grabbed the man's collar and landed a crushing blow.

"Bryce, stop it. You are doing too much. Security, help, security. Stop this bandit before he ruins more property," Arelyn shouted with an angry tone.

"Let me go. You guys are crazy trying to hold me back when this guy can't keep his mouth shut," Bryce snapped as some security tried to stop him.

Ding!

When the sound of the lift was over, the door opened and revealed a famous person stepping out of it.

"Bryce, stop everything!" Veronica's voice echoed in the room.
