Chapter 10: True Intention

After sorting things out at the designer store, Bryce and Tamara left. Both felt visibly satisfied and happy.

"If I'd known they would patronise you like that, I would have acted earlier. I thought you were still having fun trying on clothes in that special room. I should have felt suspicious because there was so much time wasted," Tamara says, lamenting Bryce's situation.

"Tamara, it's okay. You don't have to feel upset or guilty. I think this is a way for me to learn about real life," he responded casually.

"Very well. But it's still a good thing I saw the staff serving you earlier and was able to react immediately. Otherwise, it might not have ended well for you," she said.

"Guess I'm lucky to have someone as trustworthy and reliable as you," Bryce said proudly.

Tamara smiles briefly at the sentence. The two are now back in the car with some shopping bags.

Tring!

A call interrupted her before she could switch on the car's engine.

Tamara looked at Bryce and said, "Let me take this call?"

The man nodded his head to indicate 'yes'.

Tamara, who recognised the number, picked up immediately.

"Hello, Mrs Reed here. What's the news?"

"Mrs Reed, we're at the hospital to inform you that your husband's condition has suddenly dropped. The doctors are now struggling to save him from the critical phase. We hope that you can come here soon."

"Okay, of course. I'll head there right away right now."

Tamara's tone sounded both panicked and worried. Bryce, who noticed the change, immediately replied, "What's wrong, Tamara?"

She tried to act strong, but her tears were slowly falling. She tried to hold back the sound of her sobs.

"Hey, hey, it's okay. Let it all out," Bryce said, trying to calm Tamara down.

"My husband... my husband is in critical condition. I just got a call from the hospital. The doctors are trying to save him," Tamara said with tears still flowing.

Bryce, who understood her condition, provided emotional support.

"Calm down. Let's control ourselves well. If you feel calmer, we can go there right now."

Tamara steeled herself. After wiping away her tears, she quickly started the car engine, and they drove towards the hospital.

At Garton Hospital in Borneo City, Bryce and Tamara arrive at the ward of her husband, David Reed.

Bryce looked at David, who looked pale and weak, indicating his deteriorating condition. Bryce felt sorry for him, his flat face turning soft.

"The patient has just passed his critical phase. But there is no guarantee that he will not return to the same phase," the doctor said, bringing tears to Tamara's eyes.

"At least his condition is much more controlled," she responded before the doctor finally left.

"Bryce, come and sit down!" Tamara said after cleaning her tears.

But the man was silent. Something flashed in his mind. Bryce said, "You just sit down, Tamara. I'm sure your husband's condition will improve soon. I'll try to save him."

Bryce heard Tamara respond with confusion, "Bryce, what did you say? You're going to heal my husband?"

Tamara was very surprised. She thought, "When did Bryce learn medical skills?"

Bryce replied, "Tamara, I know this might sound weird, but I feel like I just got some of my lost memories back."

She, who heard this, was surprised. Tamara had no trace of full information about Bryce's past.

But she exclaimed excitedly, "Bryce, thank goodness for good news."

In the middle of their conversation, David was seen having another seizure reaction. The heart rate monitor immediately went off.

"David!" screamed Tamara in a panic.

But Bryce went into action with the medical equipment there before she could call a doctor.

A worried and confused Tamara said, "Bryce, do you know what you're doing?"

He responded, "Tamara, calm down. I used to be a doctor. I can cure your husband!"

It wasn't a good idea for Bryce to reveal his identity to her. So, he was careful about giving her information about himself.

"Alright, I trust you. What should I do?" Tamara didn't doubt Bryce at all.

Bryce examined David and immediately found the problem.

"This breathing oxygen hose was not properly attached."

David's condition immediately improved as the heart rate monitor returned to normal.

While examining the condition of the man before him, Bryce found some irregularities. He murmured, "It looks like the doctors and nurses overprescribe medication."

There was a sharp glint in Bryce's eyes. He was certain that someone had ill intentions towards David.

"Tamara, there is something wrong with your husband's condition."

Bryce's words were enough to confuse her. She didn't know what to do, as she had been trusting the doctors and nurses to treat her husband. But there seemed to be a hidden conspiracy going on.

"Tamara, please wait here and only listen to me," he said that as he rushed out to another department in the hospital.

Bryce returned with some medical equipment, including syringes, tubes, Nacl, and certain types of medication.

"Sir, where are you taking the medical equipment?" a nurse shouted at Bryce but received no reply.

Bryce, who entered David's room first, said, "Tamara, immediately restrain anyone who wants to come in here."

She sprang into action, especially when she saw a nurse walk into David's room.

"Ah, very well," Tamara muttered in confusion.

Bryce quickly removed David's shirt and immediately prepared the equipment underneath. David's illness was not difficult enough to cure, but due to the use of the wrong dose of medicine, his condition continued to worsen. Bryce was confident that his skills could cure David.

"What are you doing to him?" Leah Bronson, a nurse with heavy make-up, immediately reprimanded Bryce.

"Miss, he is performing medical treatment on my husband!" Tamara explained.

"Huh? That guy is doing medical treatment?" Leah was immediately stunned in panic.

She glanced at Bryce with a disdainful look and snapped at him, "What makes you think you can perform medical treatment here? Do you have a medical certificate? This hospital is the best in town; what makes you think you can cure diseases that the best hospitals can't?"
