When Bryce heard that, he was shocked.
"Are you serious? Don't try to fool me. If this is an attempted scam, I'll make sure it doesn't end well for you," Bryce said incredulously.
Tamara sighed. The woman looked a little flustered but tried to appear confident.
"Sir, I am not lying. Everything I said just now has a solid foundation. If you have any doubts, come with me. My car is parked across the street. I can prove my words."
Feeling he had no other options, Bryce finally decided to follow Tamara. He still showed a cautious attitude.
"Sir, what are you waiting for standing there? Let's get in the car," Tamara assured Bryce.
He looked around, making sure there were no other threats that might harm him in the car.
A relieved Bryce said, "So what proof are you going to show me?"
Tamara picked up a box from the back seat and gave it to the man beside her.
"What is this?" asked Bryce in confusion.
"The answer you seek," Tamara replied.
Bryce immediately opened the box, and he was confused by its contents. Several documents and photos of him were inside.
"I still don't understand," he said.
Tamara shook her head and replied, "For the past six months, I have been paying a private detective to investigate you. I knew that my hunch wasn't wrong, and everything proved to be correct. You are the missing heir."
Bryce was surprised; this time, he started to trust her words.
"Wh-what? Am I the heir to that glorious business empire?"
Tamara gave her a stern look and replied, "Of course. The private detective I paid managed to gather all the evidence. You have a birthmark in the same position as the Milano family's long-lost son."
A confused Bryce asked, "How can you be sure of this? Everyone can have a birthmark."
"Good question!" she said. "But what makes me sure is that besides the DNA sample test that was there, the necklace you have is a special symbol of the predecessor of the Milano family. Only the core heirs get such a sacred object. A necklace that is passed down from generation to generation. Some said it was the Milano family's lucky charm. The reason why the family can continue to be successful."
Bryce saw the DNA sample test, which confirmed the accuracy of the results. He also saw her necklace. A happy smile spread across his face.
"I finally have a family. All this time, I thought I was a lone wolf." Bryce said with teary eyes, holding back his happy tears.
Tamara just smiled at this.
"Wait a sec; if I'm the heir to that family, why aren't they looking for me?"
She responded, "It's because your extended family is too busy fighting over the inheritance. From a source close to an insider, I learnt that Milano's business empire is faltering and may collapse at any moment."
Bryce was then stunned. He was reminded of the Carter family, who were just as greedy about wealth.
"Then didn't they try to save the family business?"
Tamara smiled and replied, "Of course they tried. It's just that not everyone has the talent to be a leader. Not to mention that a lot of selfishness can make things messy."
Upon hearing that, Bryce felt a great responsibility to make things right.
"One thing I don't understand. If you have no special connection with anyone from the Milano family, how did you know they have a missing heir? Wouldn't it be better for them never to mention my existence if they want the treasure?"
Tamara let out a long sigh. She had to express her true desires.
"Well, that's true. But because of their greed, the hidden will of the head of the family, Mr William Milano, has been exposed. Soon, the news will probably spread everywhere. The families in this town will try their hardest to find you. It's been rumoured for a long time, but now all eyes will be on you."
Bryce now understood where Tamara was going with this.
"Then what do you want from me? There's no way you came willingly."
"Good guess. But I'm not that kind of person. If I weren't under pressure, I wouldn't have done this," Tamara says. The woman's assertive demeanour now looks more like pleading.
"My husband is very sick. I've spent all our money on his treatment, but there's no significant result. Now we're going bankrupt. So I'm hoping for your compassion to help with my husband's medical expenses."
Tamara cried as she said this, but she tried to control herself and stay strong.
"I see," sighed Bryce.
"I can understand your condition. But how can you help me?"
Tamara, seeing the enthusiasm in Bryce's eyes, wiped away her tears. Excited, she said, "You don't have to worry about that. Even though I'm in the edge of going bankrupt, I have a lot of connections. I also know how to play the rich people's game."
Bryce was amazed by the spirit of the woman next to him.
"You don't have to worry. As I said at the beginning, I am the person you can trust the most right now. I will help you transform. Let's make the world kneel at your feet," Tamara says confidently.
"Very well. Our deal is officially sealed. I will now show no mercy to those who despise me," Bryce muttered.
They both ended up shaking hands to signify the 'Deal' position. They smiled at each other happily.
Soon, the car was on its way to one of the top designer boutiques in town. Tamara drove the car with great excitement, and Bryce could see the smile on the beautiful woman's face."Sir, we've arrived. Let's get off!" said a delighted Tamara.A slightly confused Bryce responded, "Tamara, why are we stopping here? I thought you would take me straight to the Milano residence."Tamara was about to laugh when she heard that innocent sentence, but she quickly controlled herself."Sir, apologies if I'm presumptuous, but you might be able to see your appearance," she said."What's wrong with my appearance? I'm wearing normal clothes," Bryce said innocently."Well, that's the right analysis. That's precisely the problem. You look too ordinary. People won't think you're special looking like this. I'm sure they won't believe a word you say or care what you have to say," Tamara explains.Bryce could only stare at that. He did not understand some of the rich people's game rules."The clothes you'r
As the store guards dragged Bryce out of there, he tried to give some explanations so that the manager would not involve the police."Maam, I am one of the customers at your shop. Why am I being discriminated against and treated like this?"The manager was stunned and then looked Bryce up and down."Liar! That's not possible. That guy can't possibly afford to buy clothes at this particular designer store," the woman who created the commotion reappeared there."My lover's words must be true. I'm pretty sure this man sneaked in to do something bad," the man who was the woman's partner chimed in.The Manager felt that what they were saying was very true."Judging by his appearance, there's no way this guy can afford any of our collection," she mused. As the Manager, she immediately took a mobile phone from her pocket to make a call, but Bryce intercepted it immediately."I'm sorry if my actions were presumptuous. But you should listen to me too. I am indeed a new customer here. If you do
After sorting things out at the designer store, Bryce and Tamara left. Both felt visibly satisfied and happy."If I'd known they would patronise you like that, I would have acted earlier. I thought you were still having fun trying on clothes in that special room. I should have felt suspicious because there was so much time wasted," Tamara says, lamenting Bryce's situation."Tamara, it's okay. You don't have to feel upset or guilty. I think this is a way for me to learn about real life," he responded casually."Very well. But it's still a good thing I saw the staff serving you earlier and was able to react immediately. Otherwise, it might not have ended well for you," she said."Guess I'm lucky to have someone as trustworthy and reliable as you," Bryce said proudly.Tamara smiles briefly at the sentence. The two are now back in the car with some shopping bags.Tring!A call interrupted her before she could switch on the car's engine.Tamara looked at Bryce and said, "Let me take this c
"Miss, I trust him. I will take full responsibility if anything happens to my husband," Tamara said firmly.Leah, as a nurse, was not pleased. "Maam, please don't block my way. You can't do this as you please. There are procedures and rules in this hospital. I have to stop that man before your husband's condition cannot be saved.""What a funny phrase! You guys go overboard when prescribing medicine for patients, then have the nerve to say that this hospital is the best in town?" Bryce sneered."What you said is slander!" Leah looked shaken.Indeed, David's treating doctor, Nolan Houston, over-prescribed medication for him. Leah found out, and Nolan gave her money to keep her quiet. She wondered, "Does this man already know about it? In that case, I should stop the treatment!"Leah believed that Bryce had no medical skills. She was worried that Bryce would accidentally kill David and the police would get involved in the matter. If the police investigate and find the cause of death, No
Looking at the angry Gabriel, Nolan smiled haughtily. He believed Bryce was in serious trouble now.Bryce frowned. He wanted to take the man out and hit him, but he realised that the man was Gabriel.Bryce heard that Gabriel is a great doctor."Don't be so quick to judge." Bryce said indifferently, "Look!" His treatment process had almost reached the final stage; he had to finish it soon.Gabriel ignored Bryce's words and still insisted on stopping him. However, Bryce's hand moved so quickly that Gabriel was dumbfounded."Well..." Gabriel looked hesitant. His speed seemed to tell Gabriel that Bryce understood what he was doing.Gabriel observes Bryce and realises that Bryce's treatment methods are mysterious, strange, and effective. Gabriel realised something. His face looks shocked."No way. What I think is impossible!" Gabriel exclaimed in disbelief."Mr Shaw, stop Bryce! He's going to get the patient killed!" Nolan ur
Bryce said, "Apologise to Tamara!""I'm sorry. Please forgive me." Nolan and Leah knelt and apologised repeatedly."Get out of here!" Bryce snapped. The two hurriedly ran outside.Just then, Bryce shot a silver needle into Nolan's body. Bryce didn't want Tamara to see the violence, but that didn't mean Bryce would let Nolan get away with it.Nolan would feel miserable every night after the silver needle shot him. He would feel like thousands of ants were biting his heart. It felt worse than death."You guys get out of here too," Bryce told Gabriel and Cory.Today, he was going to discharge Tamara from the hospital. Cory obeyed Bryce's orders. Gabriel, however, remains frozen in place and looks doubtful."Why are you still here?" Bryce frowned."Will you teach me the Dreamweaver Technique from earlier?" After a while, Gabriel asked earnestly.Gabriel dedicated his life to saving lives. If he had that skill, he would have
"Alright." Finley nodded."Grandpa, look at that son-in-law; he has no manners. We're all discussing something important, and he wants to leave this room immediately. He should show his achievements if he wants to be arrogant."They all seemed to agree with that statement. Bryce, who had wanted to rest, was now stuck with the drama of his sister-in-law. The pair took great pleasure in dehumanising Bryce."Honey, you're right. He's quite arrogant for a man with no accomplishments. Bryce has the hardened nature of a pest. I thought his behaviour in the office the other day was enough to get him out of here. But somehow, it seems like my warnings fell on deaf ears. Our family has become a laughing stock because of a man like him," Veronica's mother, who was also there, said. With a glass of wine in her hand, Mrs Veronica walked over to Bryce. She reluctantly poured all the contents into Bryce's face."True, this man has never contributed anything to o
"That's right. A poor man like Bryce should be a servant, not a son-in-law. The Carter Family has been in the public eye for almost two years. It would be great if we were famous for our achievements, but instead, we've become a joke in society. I really can't bear to be embarrassed for this long."People in the family thought that Bryce was the same as rubbish. He not only did not help Veronica but also hindered her all the time. All these glimpses of the early days of their marriage are a turning point in the golden age of the Carter family. What was once perfect now has the disgrace of defects on full display. With his head still spinning, his lips dripping blood, and his stomach aching, Bryce tried to ignore what others were saying about him. The fragile-looking man even saw his wife's expression as she desperately wanted to slap him.Noticing the reproachful look on Veronica's face, Bryce stepped closer. With an embarrassed look, he said, "Veronica,
