“Well, well, well, I’ve caught you here today,” Anthony chuckled as he got in. “you’ve got a very good looking secretary.” “Thank you, have a seat,” Taron adjusted himself in his chair. “when you said you were coming, I did not expect you to be here in less than hour.” “I wanted to see you for about two weeks, and then I found myself here and I said, ‘Hey! Why don’t I go see this guy?’,” Anthony grinned. “and here I am.” “And here you are,” Taron said wearily. He had so much on his plate to do, and talking to this man for hours was not even part of it. “so, what brings you here, Tony?” Taron could already sense the passive hostility Anthony radiated. “Tony? Well, that’s new.” Anthony leaned back and looked at the art on the wall. “I assumed that we were friends, and like all friends do, I decided to lovingly shorten your name.” Taron said easily. Taron did not regard Anthony as his friend, or anyone else in the King Pin for that matter. For all Taron cared, the guy was trying to get to
“Mr McCarthy, you have a guest, says that she is Selena Goldbridge.” The nurse in attendance said as she opened the door and popped her head in. “Let her in, thanks.” Taron said. Seconds later, Selena came in with a most worried expression on her face. “Taron, what happened to you?” Selena gasped as she rushed towards his bed. She saw Rebecca sitting in front and gave her a glare before quickly turning back to Taron and holding his head in her hands. “Are you okay? No, that’s a stupid question, I brought your favourite cake.” Selena gave a grin and went to take the basket that she dropped “Thanks Selena, you can take a seat next to Rebecca.” Taron said and Selena went to sit down. “What happened to you?” Selena asked. “I phoned, but Rebecca picked up and said that you were unavailable, and then I saw the news and I was so scared!” “News?” Taron’s eyes widened and he looked at Rebecca. “I did my best to not allow anyone to cover the event, but it’s possible that peop
"Taron," Selena walked into his office with a girl in tow. "hey." Taron sat up. Selena kept on coming to see him and he wondered why. It was not like they had an off and on romance going or something, and most of the time, she came to him without asking. "Selena, hey." Taron nodded. Selena cleared her throat. "As regards the discussion we had earlier, this is the young girl in question." "I'm basically a woman now, I'm nineteen." Rukayah replied. "Is if your age that makes you a woman?" Taron asked her. "To a large extent, yes, pleased to meet you Mr McCarthy, I'm Rukayah." Rukayah said. "So I've heard amongst others, I'm sure you have some documents with you?" Taron sighed. "I would have you know that this is not what I'm supposed to be doing now, but you know, if I were to go by the way Selena spoke highly of you, then I'd be missing out on a great deal." Rukayah nodded and smiled at Selena gratefully. "You finished high school two years ago." Taron stated. "I plan
“I am going to kill all of you!" Ronaldo said, barreling towards the men, shirtless and seized the one in the middle. Weeks had passed, and Ronaldo was not over his brother, Rob’s death. And he was sure that his killer was among these men whom he knew very well. "What? What is going on, what do you want from us?" The guy asked. He had dyed his hair green and cut it low. The guy looked up to see who it was that had him. "Ronaldo? Is everything okay?" The guy asked. "I heard about Roberto, I'm sorry for your loss." The other men went towards Ronaldo and tried to free their friend from his grip. "Don't patronize me, Sol, you think that I did not know that you said that you would kill Rob for winning all the money? Huh?" Ronaldo screamed at Sol. Ronaldo did not care about any of them anymore. Roberto was his lifeline, as now he was gone. "Yo buddy, calm down," A taller man with a pot belly that was quite obvious even through his shirt said. "Don't tell me to calm down, Paul
Taron felt useless. He was tired of feeling like this over and over again, but it seemed like the universe enjoyed tormenting him. When he was with his mother before she chased him out, she made sure that he knew how bad she felt to have him in her life. When he was in a relationship with Selena, he was unable to provide and that made Selena see him as a useless person too. And then when Rob died, he felt like if he had done something earlier, then his friend would probably still be alive. Taron knew that that was not likely, he could not predict the future and whoever it was that killed Rob had his eyes on him, so regardless, Rob would still have died. Taron was very much aware, but he wanted to feel the pain for a little longer. He was not ready for the rational side of his brain to take control. He saw a sign that read. The Tipsy Scholar: Where the Booze flows and the Brains roam free. Taron sighed. He had never been to a bar before, and he was not big on drinking. But maybe
"That's the third time that has happened in ten minutes." Rebecca stood in front of the pile of vomit Taron had left on the ground again, patting his back. "It's a good thing you have paper towels here, handy for situations like this." She brought the towels and started to clean his face. “I can’t imagine your mother seeing you like this.” Rebecca giggled as they got back in the car. “No! No mother!” Taron exclaimed. Rebecca found it comforting to find out that Taron could still think, even if it was not reliable. She felt that it would be better if he had some control so he could go to sleep easier after eating at her place. She was wrong. “Sir! Sir! Don’t come outside, stay in there and take your bath and wear your towel when you’re done!” Rebecca yelled at Taron who was trying to open the door. “I want the door open!” Taron said stubbornly as Rebecca held on to the door of the bathroom for dear life— or dear sight, whichever. “No!” Rebecca said stubbornly.
Taron looked into the mirror and gave himself a smile. “You’re going to do it again, Taron, just like you’ve done many times before.” He had a very wonderful conversation with a member of his clan who had been wronged by another member. The wrong member, who called himself Cliff, but Taron had later identified as Jeff Ross had told Taron that the Johnson brothers had thrown his company down. Jeff aka Cliff had also revealed that the brothers were involved in illegal oil trading, and when Taron had asked for proof, Jeff had provided audio and video evidences. Even brought some photographs just for show, and just like that Taron got an idea on how he would be able to sell everyone in on signing the contract with open hearts. Half hearted wills in the least. “What’s got you whistling all over the place now? Is it that girl that works for you?” Eloise came in asking. “What? No! Why would I be whistling because of Rebecca? I’m whistling because I’m going to have a great day t
“With how scrunched you your face is, I can’t imagine what you’d look like if you heard that the flight had been cancelled.” Taron said, sporting his dark shades as different women looked at him as he passed. Rebecca threw her nose up. “I don’t know what you’re talking about, sir.” “You’ve been in a terrible mood all week, what happened to you?” Taron hit the mail on the head and Rebecca started to stammer. “No— it’s the— uh, the weather! The moon has not been aligning with my behaviour.” Rebecca quickly said. “You’re blaming your behaviour on the innocent moon, how unseemly.” Taron raised his glasses to look at her. Rebecca studied Taron. Did he seriously not remember? “Fine, I’ve just been having mood swings more often than usual,” Rebecca confessed. “If it’s affecting my work, I’m truly sorry and I’d do my best to be better.” “Yeah Becca, whatever.” Taron grinned and walked ahead of her. Rebecca wondered what was wrong with him. He looked too happy to be true
