Chapter Eight
The butler was just about to introduce Charlie to the gathered guests when the waiter approached him, a sense of urgency in his eyes. Realizing the gravity of the situation, the butler swiftly decides against introducing Charlie, understanding that she would not want to be involved in such a distressing scenario. He swiftly makes his way over to where Charlie is seated, concern etched across his face."Young master, there appears to be a little problem," the butler says, keeping his tone as composed as possible.
"Mr. Michael has drugged your ex-wife," he reveals, watching Charlie's reaction closely.
"What!" Charlie exclaims, he stands abruptly from his chair.
"Where did he plan to take her?" Charlie asks anxiously, despite their divorce, harboring genuine concern for Alice's well-being."I don't know where he planned to take her, but I suggest you check their previous seating location. They might still be there," the butler responds, his voice steady and reassuring.
Charlie wastes no time and rushes over to their previous seating spot. However, upon arrival, she finds it empty, causing a flicker of panic to course through him. He scans the surroundings, his eyes searching for any sign of Michael and Alice, but they are nowhere to be seen. Realizing he may need to take matters into his own hands, Charlie makes a decision.
"I'll have to go in search of them," Charlie declares firmly.
"Alright," the butler replies understandingly. "I'll introduce you to everyone else another time."
Charlie rushes out of the bustling party, the urgency driving every step as he makes his way to the garage. As he arrives, his eyes swiftly catch sight of a car pulling out from the crowded space. A stroke of luck allows him to recognize Alice inside the vehicle. Frantically trying to formulate a plan to follow them, Charlie recalls the existence of a spare car within the building. He quickly retrieves his phone and dials his butler's number, hoping for a swift solution to his predicament. The butler answers promptly, his voice calm and composed."Can you send me a car? I need it right now!" Charlie implores, his tone reflecting the urgency of the situation.
"I'll be there in a jiffy," the butler replies, his commitment evident in his response. True to his word, the butler efficiently procures a car in just a few seconds.
Charlie hurried into the car, directing the driver to follow the car in front of them. As they trailed behind, the driver keeping a safe distance, Charlie peered out the window, trying to catch a glimpse of Alice and Michael. However, the windows of the car in front were tinted, making it impossible to see inside. The driver breaks the silence, his voice filled with curiosity and concern. "Do you think they know we're following them?" He inquire, seeking reassurance amidst the uncertainty of the situation.
"I'm not sure," Charlie replies, her voice tinged with worry. "I really hope they don't. You need to drive as fast as you can. I don't want him to discover that I am trailing him., And I don't want him to get out of my sight"
The driver nods in understanding.
Charlie's eyes remain glued to the road as they pursue the car ahead, his anticipation growing with each passing moment. However, as the pursued vehicle takes a sudden turn around a corner, Charlie's heart sinks. When they reach the same corner, the car they were following has vanished into thin air. They have lost track of Michael and Alice.
"The car is gone, sir" the driver says, a sense of disappointment evident in his voice.
"I told you to drive after them. I should have just driven the car myself. I didn't want to because I believed you would be faster than me. Look what happened now," Charlie says, placing a hand on his jaw. Regret weighs heavily upon him, reflecting on the choice to let the driver take the wheel.
"I am very sorry, sir. I tried my best, but the other car blocked me," the driver responds, his tone apologetic and remorseful.
"Your best isn't enough. Come down, let me drive," Charlie says firmly, disappointment evident in his voice. As he speak, Charlie's phone rings loudly, startling him. Quickly retrieving it from his pocket, he gaze at the screen and see that it's his butler calling. Without hesitation, Charlie swiftly swipes to answer the call, bringing the phone closer to his ear.
"Hello," Charlie says, hos voice low and filled with tension as he answer the phone."I called the agency ten minutes ago. I instructed them to gather any possible clue about Ms. Alice's partner's car. They should be arriving with the information any minute now," the butler informs.
Charlie breathes out in relief upon hearing this news, grateful for the assistance and the hope it brings."They need to be fast. I can't fully trust Michael. Please ensure they provide me with any clue they find before he has a chance to do anything to her," Charlie implores.
"Alright, sir. I will immediately inform them," the butler says, reassuring Charlie with his response. Charlie breathes a sigh of relief, but a lingering concern persists within him. He hope that Michael has not already committed any inhumane acts towards Alice before the agency is able to provide her location.A few minutes later, Charlie phone rang again. This time, it was one of the underlings. "Hello?" He answered, putting the call on speaker."We have a lead on the partner's car," the underling said, his voice sounding breathless. "I think you're going to want to hear this."
"Go on," Charlie says, his attention fully captured by the words of the underling.
"We have tracked the car to a prestigious seven-star hotel. It appears to belong to the Rodriguez family," the underling relays the crucial information.
"Thank you," Charlie says with determination, ending the call.
"He has the audacity to take her to a hotel! He will certainly face the consequences," Charlie declares, his voice filled with a mixture of anger and determination. Without wasting any time, Charlie rushes to the driver's seat and accelerates towards the hotel, eager to confront Michael and ensure justice for Alice.
Chapter NineAs Charlie hastily entered the grand hotel, accompanied by his driver, they wasted no time in heading towards the reception desk. Determined and slightly agitated, Charlie introduced himself to the receptionist, eager to make his urgent request known."I'm Charlie Thompson," he declared in a direct manner, his words carrying a sense of urgency. "A man accompanied my ex-wife here not too long ago, but she's been drugged. I need you to show me to the room immediately."Fully aware of the potential obstacles that awaited him, Charlie felt compelled to assert his authority, relying on his stature and reputation to help him quickly reach his ex-wife and navigate any challenges that may arise. Following Charlie's urgent plea, the receptionist responded swiftly, her nod indicating a positive acknowledgement of his request. Determined to assist, she promptly retrieved the master key, leading the group in a hurried rush towards the designated room. Upon reaching the room, she sw
Chapter tenThere was frustration in his voice as he demanded, 'I don't know who's talking, can you introduce yourself properly?' Alice couldn't help but chuckle at his attempt to feign ignorance. Undeterred, she fired back with an air of confidence, 'I can see you're pretending not to know who's speaking, but I won't let that get to me. I just called to ask why you saved me?' The question made Charlie's anger boil on the other end.'You're ungrateful,' he spat, his voice dripping with anger. 'I don't want to see your call again, so don't try contacting this number again,' he seethed, before abruptly ending the call.""What's wrong with him? Is he in his right sense?" she questioned with a mix of concern and confusion. As if on cue, her phone began to ring, interrupting her thoughts.Curiosity piqued, she glanced at the caller ID and realized it was her mother. Swiftly, she clicked the phone, bringing it to her ear."Hello, daughter. How are you?" her mother's voice came through the
A few days had passed since the incident, and Alice found herself hunched over her desk in the confines of her office. The room was dimly lit, with papers scattered haphazardly, creating an atmosphere of urgency and determination. She was engrossed in her work, diligently poring over files, as if trying to find a solution to her current predicament. With her brow furrowed in deep concentration, Alice's fingers danced across the keyboard as she composed an email. It was a crucial message to the Thompson's company, pleading with them to reconsider their decision regarding the profit share. The mere thought of a measly 25% profit share sent a surge of frustration through her veins, as she knew that kind of return meant potential losses for her. However, Alice recognized that she couldn't afford to let her emotions dictate her actions. The collaboration with the Thompson's company was crucial for her aspirations of reaching the top five, or perhaps even top three, in the entire country. S
Chapter 12"I am very sorry," she said, her voice full of remorse. "I shouldn't have jumped into conclusions so hastily." She paused, reflecting on the advice her mother had given her countless times. "Thank God my mum always told me not to jump into conclusions too quickly."She looked at him, seeking forgiveness and understanding, as her words continued to flow. "I truly apologize for my earlier assumptions," she said sincerely. He nodded affirmatively, accepting her apology and signaling that they could move forward. With the weight of her mistake lifted, he shifted the conversation to the matter at hand. "So, what's going on? Were you able to speak to the Thompson's CEO about your collaboration?" His tone was curious, but also concerned. "Did they provide a reasonable explanation for putting it on hold?" he asked, hoping for some positive news. However, her answer left him disappointed. She shook her head, her expression revealing her disappointment as well. "No," she replied, her

She exuded a timeless beauty, her features captivating and alluring. However, upon closer inspection, he sensed that there were subtle signs of maturity, suggesting that she was perhaps older than she initially appeared.Reflecting on the butler's information, Charlie speculated that she must be in her early or late thirties. Despite the slight discrepancy in age, he couldn't deny the deep intrigue he felt towards this captivating woman sitting before him.The lady greeted him with a warm smile, her eyes fixed intent
Chapter fifteenCharlie leaned in slightly, a flicker of curiosity in his eyes. "It has become apparent to me that you hold a deep resentment towards the Thompson family. I don't mean to pry into your personal matters, but I can't help but be curious. Are they genuinely bad people? Should I reconsider collaborating with them?"Victoria's response was swift as she shook her head, a quick and decisive gesture of denial."I understand that it is a personal matter for you," Charlie responded neutrally, his expression attentive as Victoria began to explain her feelings towards the Thompson family. He listened intently as she shared her frustrations, highlighting her lack of compatibility with the CEO and his interference in her relationship with his brother."It seems that the CEO had certain expectations for you as a potential partner for his brother," Charlie speculated, carefully choosing his words. "And when those expectations were not met, he made assumptions and took actions that led
Chapter sixteenGetting home, the butler quickly approached him with a warm smile on his face. "You are welcome, young master," he said, bowing slightly as a sign of respect. Gesturing towards the door, he invited him to enter. "How did the meeting go with Miss Victoria? Did you both get along?" the butler inquired, his tone filled with curiosity. He nodded in response, indicating that the meeting had gone well. "We did, but we couldn't get down to business," he admitted with a hint of amusement. "We got caught up in personal conversation instead. I must say, I admire her assertive nature; she has quite a captivating style." As he spoke, he shrugged off his suit, casually dropping it on the edge of the sofa. The attentive butler quickly retrieved the garment, ready to take care of it."Personal matters, like what," the butler argued, a note of skepticism in his voice. He found it hard to believe that Miss Victoria would discuss anything personal with someone she barely knew. It puzz
