Tension

Alice's eyes widened in shock as she demanded to know what had happened. "What's going on? Why are you having a tough day?" she asked, her voice laced with concern.

Charlie's face twisted in anger and hurt. "I was disowned by my father," he spat out the words, his voice trembling with emotion. "I'm no longer a part of the Thompson family. I just want to start minding my own business."

Alice's eyes nearly popped out of her head in disbelief. "You mean you're disowned?" she repeated, her voice incredulous. She couldn't fathom how a parent could reject their own child.

Charlie nodded, their jaw clenched in frustration. "Yes, that old man disowned me because of that idiot Michael." His eyes flashed with anger, and his voice rose in indignation. "I am very mad right now. I can't believe my father would believe such lies and turn his back on me."

Alice's expression softened with sympathy. "Oh, I'm so sorry. That must be really tough for you." She reached out and placed a comforting hand on
