Liam turns to look at his cousin, Cassandra. She is wearing a red tracksuit and has her hair in pigtails.

‘’Cassandra?’’ Liam questions.

She wrings her fingers.

‘’Listen, I’m sorry about the other day, I was going through too many emotions. I was sad that mom died, then upset when you broke that news to me.’’

Liam nods.

‘’So, hmm—she left seday.veral letters and a thumb drive for me. Also, a copy of my adoption papers, and my original birth papers.’’

Cassandra takes a shaky breath.

‘’The funny thing is, I remember meeting those people before. They used to come to my parties, but I think my thirteenth birthday was the last time I saw them.’’

‘’I’m sorry, Cassandra.’’

‘’No, it’s fine. I’m glad I know the truth now.’’

She turns to walk away, but Liam stops her.

‘’Annie’s stop is still vacant; I just can’t seem to find anyone good enough to take her spot.’’

‘’Ar—are you sure?’’

‘’I am. We are family, after all. And I think you will be great.’’
