That same day…….
A short while later, a car pulled up beside Vere's car. He glanced over, raised his head, and noticed that it was Mira's car. "Oh wow, what luck! I couldn't believe with my two eyes you arrived now and beside my car, huh?" Vere conversed with himself. When Mira hopped out of her car Vere pretended to be engrossed in something on the dashboard, seemingly taking a nap.
Vere continued to watch Mira from the reflection in the restaurant's glass wall as she walked towards the entrance. He saw Mira take her seat at a table beside the glass wall. Vere couldn't take his eyes off Mira, but no one joined her; it was clear to him that she was dining alone.
At that moment, Vere said to himself, "Hey, Vere, I think your suspicions might be off the mark. It seems Mira isn't hiding anything after all," he mused.
After Mira finished her meal, she didn't leave immediately. After a while, a car pulled up, and Vere noticed that the car was familiar. He had seen it before when he and James were having coffee in that coffee shop in front of the Fuentez Company Building at that time. The car parked beside Vere's, and a woman he recognized stepped out. This woman had handed something to Mira during that time too.
The woman, dressed in office attire and carrying a suitcase, walked straight into the restaurant and took a seat opposite Mira.
"Oh wow, Vere, what a stroke of luck. All my targets are here," Vere thought to himself. Vere discreetly took out his phone and snapped a photo of the scene, capturing Mira and the mysterious woman who handed her a folder. Soon, they both left the restaurant and headed to their respective cars.
As they approached, Vere pretended to be asleep again, head down. Mira's car departed, followed closely by the mysterious woman's car. Vere tailed them as they made their way to the Fuentes Company Building. He observed them as they exited their cars and rushed inside, their demeanor hinting at a sense of urgency.
While waiting for them, Vere had the idea to step out of his car and grab a quick meal from a nearby restaurant. Soon, he noticed the cars were leaving, so he hurried back to his vehicle, jumped in, and began to tail them. As he drove, one hand managed the wheel, while the other continued to snack.
The journey took around thirty minutes, and the cars led him to a massive, newly constructed building with an elegant design, suggesting that a billionaire was the owner. "Wow, my dear wife seems to have quite a few appointments. That's why she's always so busy, and what is she doing in this building with that woman?" Vere murmured to himself.
A little later, three cars arrived one after the other, and a well-dressed man, accompanied by what appeared to be bodyguards, got out of the vehicles. Vere's doubts resurfaced, but he continued to document every scene, taking pictures to gather evidence.
Shortly thereafter, Vere noticed Mira, the mysterious woman, and the wealthy man with his bodyguards exiting the building. However, at that moment, something caught Vere's attention: Mira stepped into the car of the affluent man, leaving her own car behind.
"Oh no, not again, Mira. Are you leaving me? Oh Wait a minute, why are you getting into that man's car? Is this really happening?" Vere pondered, his disbelief growing. Taking a deep breath, he muttered to himself, "Mira, are you betraying me?" The cars departed once more, and Vere continued to follow them, his anger growing as he drove. After about fifteen minutes on the road, the three cars turned a corner, revealing a beautiful guesthouse. Mira, the man in the business suit, the mysterious woman, and those bodyguards emerged from their respective cars.
A little while later, an elderly man who appeared to be wealthy emerged from the elegant guesthouse. Vere also noticed several CCTV cameras positioned around the area. Shortly thereafter, Vere saw a man approaching the affluent elderly gentleman, carrying a weapon that seemed to be concealed. After exchanging a few hushed words, they both abruptly entered the elegant guest room.
Everyone, including Mira, went inside, leaving only guards stationed outside. However, Vere continued his mission, observing from the inside of his car as he captured the unfolding scene with his camera. After a brief moment, a small light flickered in his car's rearview mirror, followed by a gunshot that struck Vere.
Startled, he quickly sped away, driving recklessly. In the mirror, he noticed someone tailing him. He accelerated and weaved through various routes until he reached a train track. Just before an oncoming train, Vere managed to cross to the other side, evading his pursuers. Vere was bleeding as he continued to drive.
The area was sparsely populated, with few houses or people around. He pressed on until he spotted an old, seemingly abandoned medical center. He parked his car and entered, but the place appeared deserted. He rummaged through the cabinets, eventually finding bandages and some medicine.
He returned to his car and Vere reached for his cell phone and dialed James' number. The phone rang, and James promptly answered. "Hello, James, please help me," Vere's voice trembled, clearly indicating he was in pain. "Mr. Vere, what happened? Where are you?" James responded with concern evident in his voice. "I've been wounded by a gunshot," Vere explained, "I'm at the abandoned Palma Siete Medical Center." "Okay, Mr. Vere, hold on there. We'll get to you right away," James replied, sounding flustered and panicked. "Please, don't tell Mira." After Vere had spoken, his vision suddenly darkened, and he lost consciousness.
One day later, Vere slowly woke up in the private room of The Holy Savior Hospital. He heard a familiar voice and gradually opened his eyes to find out who had awakened him and saw it was James standing beside him.
"How are you feeling Mr. Vere?" James inquired. Vere replied, "I'm okay, James, though I'm still a bit sore. Thanks for everything." James reassured him, "You're welcome, Mr. Vere. The most important thing is that you're safe now and that time you manage to make a phone call right away. And your wife, Mrs. Mira, doesn't know anything, just as you requested."
Vere looked at James and nodded in agreement. "Alright, Mr. Vere, for now, you need to rest," James advised. "I'll be heading back to the office, but if you need anything, don't hesitate to call, always at your service. Here's your phone." James handed Vere his phone and bid him farewell before leaving the hospital.
After five days, Vere was finally discharged from the hospital. James accompanied him to his hotel, where he stayed before any of these events transpired. Upon reaching the hotel, Vere decided it was time to confide in James about everything that had happened between him and Mira.
James listened intently as Vere began his narrative. "I thought long and hard before I embarked on this plan, James. I wanted to witness my wife's actions with my own eyes," Vere explained. As he turned to James, breaking his silence, and said, "Before I initiated my plan, James, I thoroughly contemplated and researched it because I wanted to see my wife's activities. At that moment, Vere remained silent for a few seconds, seemingly lost in thought and disbelief at what he had witnessed.
James broke the silence, offering some information to Vere. "Mr. Vere, I have some information about the Fuentez company. I spoke to their secretary, and she admitted that Mrs. Mira was indeed involved in the downfall of their company. She even provided evidence." James handed a folder from his bag to Vere, and he accepted it. "Thank you, James," James replied with a nod to Vere and said,No problem; it's my work, Mr. Vere.
And by the way, I've settled the bill for the car you rented, so don't worry about it." Vere gazed at James and said, "James, by the way, we're going to the Fuentez company tomorrow. Please tell the secretary to inform Mira that her presence is urgently needed; meet with us and make no mention that I sent you." James nodded understandingly, empathizing with Vere's difficult situation. "Of course, Mr. Vere. I'll handle it. We'll have to confront Mrs. Mira, and there's no other choice."
After their conversation, James left the hotel, leaving Vere lying in bed. Vere's phone had several missed calls and messages from Mira, but he chose to ignore them due to his anger and resentment toward his wife. The next morning, James arrived early at the hotel to pick up Vere, and they headed to the Fuentez Company to be there ahead of Mira.
They had scheduled a meeting for 9 o'clock, which was the invitation sent to her. Vere waited for Mira in a conference room, where only the two of them would have a private conversation. As the clock struck nine, Mira finally arrived at the Fuentez Company.
When she entered the conference room, she was taken aback to find Vere seated there, and her surprise was evident on her face.
That day was a confrontation day with Mira.Mira's warm smile quickly faded as she noticed Vere's unusual coldness. She had expected a warm embrace and a joyful greeting from her husband after being apart for several days. Instead, Vere seemed distant and unresponsive. "Vere my love, what are you doing here? You surprised me, and you didn't tell me that you had arrived," Mira questioned, her eyes searching for an explanation in his stern expression. Vere avoided her gaze and simply motioned towards the nearby chairs. "Please sit down, Mira. We have a lot of things to discuss and questions that need answers."Mira hesitated but took a seat, her mind racing with confusion and concern. "And why should I tell you that I am here? Vere begun. Can you tell me where you have been all these days and you always say that you will meet your friend Ivie? That's not what I found out. You always seem so busy," he retorted, his voice tinged with frustration. And suddenly, Vere let out a sigh and fi
As Vere approached the police officer who was in possession of the accident report, he experienced a mix of apprehension and emotions. "Mr. Police officer, I'm the husband of the victim," he replied. "Are you serious?" the policeman retorted, appearing astonished. "Yes, sir," Vere answered. The policeman asked, "Which car?" "The yellow one," Vere said. "It belongs to Jefferson Cole, the owner of the yellow car." That time the police officer was waiting for Veres' reply. “Oops, ahm, sorry, it's not. I thought it was my wife's car, as it seems the same.” Vere said. “Oh, I'm with you,” the police officer replied."Thank you,” Mr. Police Officer Vere said. “It's ok,” the police officer answered.Vere stepped up to the car, which had suffered considerable front-end damage in the collision, to alleviate his mind. When he noticed that Mira's license plate number was different and that the two cars were not the same, his heart began to lift.He pushed his pal James, who was also examining th
It was a nightmarish situation for Vere, as he became the prime suspect in the investigation into his wife Mira's death. And now his confidant and trusted friend, James, was nowhere to be found, as he was only the hope for Vere, leaving him isolated and desperate. To make matters worse, Vere was unable to bid a final farewell to Mira, as Mr. and Mrs. Fuentez denied him that closure. All his efforts, all he had done for Mira and their envisioned family, had crumbled due to unforeseen issues in their marriage. It was a deeply distressing ordeal for Vere.It was the seventh day in the cell for Vere, who was informed by the police that he had a visitor. He was taken to a visitation room, where he saw Mr. and Mrs. Fuentez waiting for him. Vere greeted them out of respect as their son-in-law, but they ignored his greeting. "Mrs. Fuentez, how could you? After all that you've done for our daughter, we trusted you completely, but it turned into a mess," Mr. Fuentez lamented. "If you can re
As Vere stood in the dimly lit corridor of the prison, the echo of clanging doors still reverberating in his ears, he could not believe that this had become his reality. The outside world felt like a distant memory for him, and now he was thrust into this harsh and unforgiving environment.Vere observed the other inmates, each with their own stories and circumstances. As he found his place in this bleak setting, he couldn't help but wonder what had led him here. It was a story that he would come to share with a select few over time, a story that he couldn't forget.A fellow inmate approached Vere and introduced himself, looking at his face. "Hey, I'm Ted.""I'm Vere," he replied.Ted offered Vere some advice as they settled into their small, shared cell."I've been here for several years, and I know how the game goes inside this place, so you have to be vigilant," Ted said in a hushed tone. "Listen," he continued. "This place is rough, and you've got to watch your back. Keep your head
Days turned into weeks, and Vere had already adjusted to his life as an inmate. However, every day, he held onto the hope that a miracle would happen and that one day, James would surprise him, having overcome the coma from the accident. But he couldn't forget the events that had forever left a mark on his memory. One day, as Vere was taking a shower, he was unaware that danger was lurking nearby. Vere had thought that, after several days and weeks had passed, the conflicts would have subsided, but he was definitely mistaken, and that day would be his other day to be in trouble. Little did he know that some of his fellow inmates were still watching him closely, waiting for an opportunity to strike. After Vere had finished dressing and left the shower area, he was in for a shock. The same group that had been causing problems for him in the mess hall in the past few weeks had confronted him. Five imposing inmates surrounded him, their hostility palpable. Without warning, they seized h
On that fateful night, while Vere found himself in the dimly lit cell, he pondered whether he should accept the offer from Mr. and Mrs. Fuentez. It was the only remaining option for him to escape the confines of his prison, as there are no signs of James yet. After three long days of contemplation, Mr. and Mrs. Fuentez returned to visit Vere in his cell. Vere had been wrongfully accused of a crime he did not commit. Unforgettable nightmare that had shattered in his life, and he had spent countless nights behind those unforgiving bars, yearning for justice. The justice system had failed him, and he had lost faith in it. However, the Fuentez offer presented a ray of light in the abyss of despair, even though there is no assurance if that is a good decision to trust them, as they once sent Vere to prison, but for now, Vere doesn't have any other choice but to accept. As he was desperately wants to get out of the prison. At that moment, Vere decided not to beat around the bush, and he ac
Three days after that fateful night, it was quiet in the prison, and most inmates were fast asleep. However, a group of determined individuals, including Vere, Tony, Johnny, Ted, and four others, decided to carry out their escape plan. They cautiously began their endeavor by crawling through the ceiling, timing their movements between the rounds of the jail guards. They reached the end of the crawl space and, one by one, started their descent. After successfully reaching the ground, they proceeded to sneak past the prison walls, with Johnny leading the way. However, as they approached a section of the wall, Johnny accidentally slipped, causing a disturbance that alerted the guards. All of them were caught except for Vere, who managed to evade capture. The prison yard was illuminated by the rotating searchlights, but Vere slipped away, crawling through the muddy terrain behind the prison building. He made his way to a dense forest and was closely pursued by the prison guards. Vere r
After two hours of traveling, Vere finally arrived in town and immediately disembarked. He started walking towards the place where Alexa's friend, Anthony Blair, usually stayed. Anthony worked on one of the trucks that transported fruits and vegetables to the big city. After a fifteen-minute walk, He finally reached the large truck where they loaded the produce. Without further delay, she began asking the truck drivers. "Hello, sir. Do you know Anthony Blair?" Vere inquired. "Yeah, the third truck," one of the truck drivers replied. He quickly headed to the third truck and asked, "Hey, are you Anthony Blair?" Vere questioned. Anthony responded, "Yeah, how did you know me? So, we know each other." "From Alexa. He told me to find you here," Vere explained."Are you a relative of Alexa?" Anthony asked Vere. "No, just a friend," Vere replied. "There's no mobile phone signal in Alexa's place, but I'm glad I found where she lives." "Yeah it is! so whats your name? Anthony ask Vere." At
