Chapter 42

"Okay, Mr. James, I am very happy about this news. I really appreciate your trust in me," Vere said. "Tomorrow, I will schedule a meeting with Mr. Fuentez and Mrs. Fuentez," James told Vere.

"Okay, Mr. James. I can't wait for that," Vere replied.

"Alright, Mr. Wayne. I will call you back later to finalize the schedule. Thanks," Vere said and hung up his mobile phone.

Olivia smiled at him. "Mmmm, I can sense good news; am I right?" Olivia asked.

"Yeah, you're right, Olivia. Soon I can have what's mine," Vere unintentionally let slip.

Olivia's eyes widened in anticipation as she realized the significance of Vere's words. It was clear that something exciting was on the horizon for him.

Vere remained careful and composed to avoid arousing Olivia's suspicion. After they finished reviewing the files of Olivia's business ventures, Vere excused himself, telling Olivia that he needed to rest in his room. Once in his room, Vere let out his pent-up anger over recent events. In a fit of rage, he threw the lampshade against the wall, creating a loud noise.

Moments later, Olivia knocked on his door, clearly concerned, and asked, "Mr. Wayne, what's that noise? Are you alright in there?" Her voice was raised as she couldn't hide her worry.

Vere quickly composed himself, not wanting to alarm Olivia further. He opened the door and replied, "I apologize, Olivia. I just had a moment of frustration. I'm fine now." He forced a reassuring smile, hoping to put her at ease.

Olivia, still visibly concerned, nodded and said, "Alright, but if you ever need to talk or if something's bothering you, you can always confide in me."

Vere thanked her for her concern and assured her that he would. Deep inside, he was relieved that Olivia hadn't probed further. It was imperative that he keep his emotions in check while navigating the complex situation surrounding what he heard from James about Mr. and Mrs. Fuentez is selling his mansion in Bormio that he owns.

Moments later, Vere's cell phone rang again, and it was James on the line once more. "Mr. Wayne, we will meet at the Royal Restaurant tomorrow with Mr. and Mrs. Fuentez to settle the sale of the mansion in Bormio," James informed him.

"Alright, Mr. James. Thank you," Vere replied.

After the call, Vere couldn't contain his frustration, muttering to himself, "All of you are savages! Really, I promise that I will seek revenge for everything you've done stealing, imprisoning me, and deceiving me," Vere vowed.

His anger and determination to right the wrongs done to him burned deep within him as he prepared for the upcoming meeting at the Royal Restaurant with the people who had betrayed him. The prospect of settling the matter surrounding his mansion in Bormio gave him the motivation he needed to confront those who had wronged him.

The next morning, at nine o'clock, Vere prepared himself to head to the Royal Restaurant for his appointment with James and Mr. and Mrs. Fuentez. He dressed impeccably, aiming to appear sophisticated, as this was the time he would face the people he despised for their actions against him. As Vere stepped out of his room, he encountered Olivia, who was also impeccably dressed and couldn't resist teasing him, saying, "Good morning, Mr. Wayne. You look so good today." She chuckled while reading a newspaper in the living room.

"Thanks, Olivia. I need to wear this formal attire to meet those wealthy folks," Vere replied.

"Oh, well, for sure, you look more pleasing than them," Olivia added with a mischievous smile.

Vere laughed and said, "Hahaha. Maybe you're right, but it's a formal meeting, so I need to be formal too." He bid farewell to Olivia and left the mansion on his way to the Royal Restaurant, where his appointment was scheduled.

Vere's life had taken a dramatic turn in a matter of hours. The prospect of reclaiming what was rightfully his had ignited a fire within him, but it was a blaze of mixed emotions: anger, determination, and a hint of excitement. As he drove to the Royal Restaurant, the elegant facade of the place seemed like an ironic backdrop to the tumultuous storm of emotions swirling within him.

The sleek, black luxury car glided through the busy streets, making its way towards the restaurant. Vere glanced at his reflection in the rearview mirror and adjusted his tie, ensuring everything was perfect. In a way, his impeccable attire was his armor against the uncertainties of the impending meeting.

He couldn't help but think back to how he had arrived at this moment. It all started with the phone call from James, a person Vere had trusted for years. The news of Mr. and Mrs. Fuentez's intention to sell his mansion in Bormio was both shocking and infuriating. It was a mansion he had owned for years, a symbol of his success and hard work, and now it was slipping through his fingers, thanks to a web of betrayal and deceit.

James, who had delivered the shocking revelation, was, unfortunately, not only a trusted friend but also a confidant. Their bond has deepened over the years, and it was this bond that had made Vere overlook the growing signs of treachery. As he continued driving, Vere couldn't help but think about how he had missed the warning signs. How could James, a person he considered a brother, be involved in such a scheme?

With his mind racing and a storm of emotions raging within him, Vere pulled into the parking lot of the Royal Restaurant. The sight of the imposing establishment, with its grand entrance and valet service, only served to intensify his anger. It was as if the opulence surrounding him was mocking the injustice he had suffered.

Stepping out of the car, Vere took a deep breath, determined to maintain his composure in the face of his adversaries. He knew that the upcoming meeting would not be an easy one. Mr. and Mrs. were shrewd businesspeople, and Vere was well aware that he had to navigate a treacherous path to regain control of his mansion.

Inside the restaurant, the atmosphere was refined, with crystal chandeliers casting a warm glow over the marble floors. Vere was led to a private dining area where James, Mr. Fuentez, and Mrs. Fuentez were already seated. The table was adorned with fresh flowers and fine china, a stark contrast to the tension that hung in the air.

"Good morning, Mr. Wayne," James greeted Vere with a forced smile. It was evident that the weight of their betrayal weighed on him as well.

"Good morning," Vere replied, keeping his tone even. He took his seat, keeping his emotions tightly in check. This was not the time for a confrontation; it was the time for negotiation.

The meeting commenced with pleasantries and small talk, but Vere knew that the real battle lay beneath the surface. As the discussion shifted towards the sale of the mansion, Vere could feel his blood boil. He was offered a deal that was far from what he had expected. The Fuentezes were attempting to buy his property at a fraction of its actual value, a move that further fueled his anger.

Vere remained calm, his years of negotiation experience coming to the fore. He presented a counteroffer that reflected the true worth of his mansion, backed by a compelling argument for its value. The room was filled with tension as the negotiations continued, with each party attempting to gain the upper hand.

Hours passed, and Vere's determination remained unyielding. He knew that he couldn't let his emotions get the best of him; he had to play the long game. In the end, a compromise was reached, and the deal was struck. Vere had regained control of his mansion, but it had come at a cost. It was a bitter victory, but a victory nonetheless.

As Vere left the restaurant, he couldn't help but replay the events of the meeting in his mind. The battle had been fought with words and numbers, but it was the emotions that ran deep beneath the surface that had fueled his determination. He had confronted his adversaries and emerged victorious, but the scars of betrayal still lingered.

Back at the mansion, Olivia was waiting with bated breath to hear the outcome of the meeting. Vere talked with a calm voice trying to make his words better to Olivia not to make it obvious. As he recounted the events of the day, Olivia listened with a mixture of relief and happiness as she saw that determination in Vere's eyes, and she knew that he was a man on a mission to start his stepping stone to becoming a successful person as what she encouraged Vere to do.

Vere's determination to right the wrongs done to him burned deep within him, and he was ready to take action. He knew that the road ahead would be challenging, and the people who had betrayed him were not to be underestimated. But Vere was prepared to seek revenge, not out of malice, but out of a sense of justice and the need to reclaim what was rightfully his.

The mansion in Bormio, which had been a symbol of his success and achievement, was now more than just a property. It was a battleground, a place where Vere would confront his past and reclaim his future. The fire of determination that had ignited within him would drive him forward, propelling him towards a reckoning with those who had wronged him.

Vere's journey was far from over, and as he looked out at the horizon, he couldn't help but feel that this was just the beginning. The promise of a significant turning point in his life had been fulfilled, and he was ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead with unwavering resolve.
